In general, orthopedic instrument adapters and methods of using orthopedic instrument adapters are provided. In an exemplary embodiment, an adapter is configured to releasably attach to an end effector configured to impact bone. The end effector can be a broach, chisel, or other surgical implement. The adapter includes a spring-loaded hook that is configured to releasably seat in a cut-out formed in the end effector. The adapter is also configured to releasably attach to a surgical impacting tool, such as an orthopedic impactor, configured to drive impacting of the end effector relative to bone.

Orthopaedic surgical instrument

An orthopaedic surgical instrument for use in resecting a patient's bone is disclosed. In some embodiments, the instrument may be for single patient use and may be disposed of at the end of each surgical procedure.

Systems (100, 900, 1100), devices, and methods may be used to print or use a patient-specific waterjet cut guide (104, 302, 902, 1102). A method may include receiving, at a processor, image data of a bone (102, 308) of a patient (702), rendering a model of the bone (102, 308) (704) and generating a cut guide model using the model of the bone (102, 308) (706). The method may include printing, using a three-dimensional (3D) printer, a waterjet cut guide (104, 302, 902, 1102) using the cut guide model. A method may include using the patient-specific waterjet cut guide (104, 302, 902, 1102) to perform a resection using a waterjet cutting device, the waterjet cutting device including a nozzle (108, 306, 406, 500A, 500B) insertable into a cut guide slot (106B, 304, 310, 906, 1104) of the patient-specific waterjet cut guide (104, 302, 902, 1102).

The present disclosure involves object recognition as a method of registration, using a stereoscopic camera on Augmented Reality (AR) glasses or an endoscope as the image capture technology. Exemplary objects include surgical tools, anatomical components or features, such as bone or cartilage, etc. By detecting just a portion of the object in the image data of the surgical scene, the present disclosure may register and track a portion of the patient's anatomy, such as the pelvis, the knee, etc. The present disclosure also optionally displays information on the AR glasses themselves, such as the entire pelvis, the femur, the tibia, etc. The present disclosure may include combinations of the foregoing features, and may eliminate the need for electromagnetic, inertial, or infrared stereoscopic tracking as the tracking technology.

FEMORAL SURGICAL INSTRUMENT AND METHOD OF ASSEMBLING SAME

An orthopaedic surgical instrument may include an elongated body with a proximal end and distal end. A clamp lever may be pivotally coupled to the proximal end of the elongated body. The clamp lever may be moveable between a locked position and an unlocked position. A biasing element may be configured to bias the clamp lever to the locked position.

The present disclosure is directed to a method of surgery, such as knee replacement surgery and hip replacement surgery that achieves optimal implant sizing and placement within a surgically repaired joint.

Femoral sizing jig, femur resecting system, and method

A femoral sizing jig for use in total arthroplasty of left and right knees, comprises a femoral body, an external-rotation-angle arm which is, preferably pivotable, relative to the femoral body for setting an external angular rotation of a left or right femur, at least one of a cutting-jig guide and a cutting jig which is, preferably slidable, relative to the femoral body and in unison with movement of the external rotation-angle arm, and a medial posterior-condylar locator which is movable in unison with the movement of the external-rotation-angle arm, so as to maintain a fixed or substantially fixed relative distance with a medial side of the at least one of a cutting-jig guide and a cutting jig. A posterior-referencing femur resecting system using said femoral sizing jig and a method of resecting a femur at a knee joint relative to the medial posterior condyle are also provided.

Systems and methods for joint replacement

Systems and methods for joint replacement are provided. The systems and methods include a surgical orientation device and at least one orthopedic fixture. The surgical orientation device and orthopedic fixtures can be used to locate the orientation of an axis in the body, to adjust an orientation of a cutting plane or planes along a bony surface, to distract a joint, or to otherwise assist in an orthopedic procedure or procedures.

Adjustable position trial component with drill guide

An exemplary trial component is configured to be attached to a resected bone having a resection surface, and includes a body portion and a sliding fastening mechanism movably coupled to the body portion. The body portion has an articular surface, a bone-facing surface, and at least one drill guide extending through the articular surface and the bone-facing surface. The sliding fastening mechanism includes at least one post extending beyond the bone-facing surface, and the post is operable to engage the resection surface to retain the position of the sliding fastening mechanism relative to the bone. When attached to the bone, the trial component is structured to selectively retain the position of the body portion relative to the bone, and to selectively permit adjustment of the position of the body portion relative to the bone.
