The present invention refers to a device for the resection of bones (1) for preparing the attachment of an endoprosthesis to the joints which consists of at least two joint elements cooperating with each other, comprising at least one tool guide (3, 4, 5, 7, 14) and at least one support (6, 9, 10, 15, 21) suitable for orienting the at least one tool guide (3, 4, 5, 7, 14), wherein, either in the immediate vicinity of the joint and/or across joints, the at least one support (15, 21) enables the at least one tool guide (3, 4, 5, 7, 14) to be oriented and positioned on a further joint element, or enables the at least one tool guide (3, 4, 5, 7, 14) to be oriented and positioned at the same joint element distally to the area to be treated and/or outside the surgical area. The at least one tool guide (3, 4, 5, 7, 14) and the at least one support are preferably immovably connected to each other so as to manufacture an individual single-use template. The invention also relates to a method for manufacturing such a device or template, an endoprosthesis suited for this purpose, a method for manufacturing such an endoprosthesis, and a surgical set consisting of said parts.

Patient-specific mill guide

An orthopedic guide for preparing a particular patient's bone to receive a prosthesis using a milling tool with a rotating burr comprises a platform having a top surface and a bottom surface adapted to face the patient's bone. The platform defines an elongate milling track that extends through the platform from the top surface to the bottom surface of the platform, the milling track being sized and shaped so as to be adapted to guide the milling tool across the patient's bone with the burr of the milling tool rotating beneath the bottom surface of the platform to be adapted to remove a first bone portion from the patient's bone. A plurality of legs are coupled to the platform and each comprise a referencing end that is contour-matching fabricated as a function of the patient's bone data to be adapted to abut the patient's bone, the referencing ends of the plurality of legs adapted to cooperate to locate the orthopedic guide at a single predetermined location of the patient's bone.

A surgical cutting block according to an exemplary aspect of the present disclosure includes, among other things, a block body including a top surface having a first thickness that extends between a first surface and an opposing second surface of the block body and a capture disposed at the top surface. The capture includes a second thickness that is less than the first thickness of the top surface.

JIG FOR DETERMINING A PATIENT-ADAPTED IMPLANT SIZE OF THE FEMORAL IMPLANT OF A KNEE ENDOPROSTHESIS
20170348009 · 2017-12-07 ·

A jig for determining a patient-adapted implant size of a femoral implant of a knee endoprosthesis. The jig has a main body, a probe part movable relative to the main body along a measuring direction. The probe part has an arm with a tip placeable on an anterior reference point of the femur's distal end, two contact pieces for placing on and referencing the medial and lateral posterior condyle of the femur's distal end, and at least one scale and pointer for indicating the probe part's position in the measuring direction relative to the contact pieces. The distance of the probe tip from the contact pieces is adjustable such that the distance is different with respect to the two contact pieces and, for each contact piece, a dedicated scale and an associated pointer are provided for the indication of the probe part's position relative to the respective contact piece.

The 4-in-1 cutting jig for femoral finishing comprises a cutting block provided with cutting guides configured to be placed, during use, in contact with the distal resection surface of a femur, at least a first patient-specific made-to-measure module and first coupling means in an obligatory position for coupling the first module with the cutting block, the first module having first reference means configured to position, during use, the cutting block in a predetermined and patient-specific manner relative to the distal resection surface, the first reference means comprising at least a first abutment element having a first surface configured to line up, during use, with a femoral landmark of the patient.

Bony balancing apparatus and method for total knee replacement
09833249 · 2017-12-05 ·

Total knee replacement surgery is improved through custom cuts on the distal femur without resorting to expensive computer navigation. The method involves measurements on plain radiographs or CT scans prior to surgery, the amount of bone that would be resected on each knee, medially and laterally on the distal femur. In the preferred embodiments, the predetermined distance is in the range of 8-12 mm, more preferably 10 mm, and the resulting distance from the second line to the apex of the lateral condyle is in the range of 6 to 7 mm. A cutting fixture is provided and used to resect the medial condyle at the predetermined distance and the lateral condyle at the measured resulting distance.
