An arthroscopic cutting probe includes an elongated shaft assembly having a distal end, a proximal end, and a longitudinal axis therebetween. A working end at the distal end of the elongated shaft assembly includes a first active electrode and a second active electrode The shaft assembly is rotates the first electrode relative to the second electrode about the longitudinal axis, and a return electrode is carried on the shaft assembly proximal of the working end. The first and second active electrodes are electrically coupled to each other and electrically isolated from the return electrode.

COLLECTING AND HARVESTING CUT BONE FROM RONGEUR

A collector used to collect bone includes: a container body defining an interior containment space for receiving and retaining collected bone, and having at least one open end for access and removal of collected bone from the interior containment space; and a cap in covering relation to the open end of the container body such that access to the interior containment space for removal of collected bone is inhibited. The collector includes an intake port defining an opening for receiving therein a distal end of a kerrison rongeur for collecting cut bone from a cutting area thereof, and the cap includes at least one scraper for engaging and dislodging cut bone from the cutting area of a distal end of a kerrison rongeur when received within the intake port. The collector preferably is used with a kerrison rongeur for collecting cut bone therefrom.

Combination device for endoscopic and arthroscopic surgical procedures

A single-handed meniscal biter instrument for probing and resecting meniscal tissue. The instrument includes a main body configured to be held by one hand and a cutting mechanism coupled to the main body and configured to be operable by the same hand while held. The instrument also includes an extendable probe coupled to the main body, wherein the probe is configured to the independently operable by the same hand while being held.

Bone removal instrument

Improved spinal instruments are provided. In particular, the present application relates to an improved rongeur that allows for multiple bites of bone to be performed in a patient before removing the rongeur from the patient. The rongeur includes a lower shaft and an upper shaft slidable relative to the lower shaft. The lower shaft and upper shaft form a jaw mechanism that can take multiple bites of bone, which can be deposited in a storage cavity formed in the upper shaft. To assist in removing the bone from within the storage cavity, an internal plunger mechanism can be provided that is actuated by a finger hold. In addition, at least portions of the upper shaft are detachable from the lower shaft such that the upper shaft can be thoroughly cleaned and re-used if desired.

A tissue treatment device has a shaft assembly including an outer sleeve and an inner sleeve. The inner sleeve is co-axially and rotatably received in an axial passageway in the outer sleeve. A dielectric housing has an outer cutting window forming a distal portion of the outer sleeve, and a distal portion of the inner sleeve forms an RF electrode and has an inner cutting window formed therein. The outer and inner cutting windows have outer and inner cutting edges disposed to close together as the inner sleeve is rotated relative to the outer sleeve.

The collector preferably is used with a kerrison rongeur for collecting cut bone therefrom.

METHOD OF UNILATERAL BIPORTAL ENDOSCOPY AND DIAMOND SHAVER USED IN SAME

The present invention relates generally to a method of unilateral biportal endoscopy and diamond shaver used in the same. The method includes: securing pathways for a working portal and an endoscopic portal that extend toward a surgical site in the body of a patient and are distanced from each other; inserting a surgical instrument required for surgery into the secured working portal; inserting an endoscope into the endoscopic portal; performing surgery using the surgical instrument inserted into the working portal while monitoring the surgical site through the endoscope; removing the surgical instrument and the endoscope after the performing the surgery; and suturing of suturing entrances of the working portal and the endoscopic portal.

DIRECTION ADJUSTABLE SURGICAL TISSUE REMOVAL DEVICE

A direction adjustable surgical tissue removal device, including: an insert rod having a stopping step at a front end; a slider slidably coupled to the insert rod, moving forward and backward with respect to the stopping step, and having a punching portion forming a jaw in cooperation with the stopping step; a rotary shaft being a hollow member fixed behind the insert rod and rotated by a user; a pushing rod having a front end fixed to the slider sequentially through the rotary shaft and the insert rod and a rear end extending backward; a spring disposed between the rotary shaft and the rear end of the pushing rod and elastically supporting the pushing rod backward; and a handle accommodating a portion of the rotary shaft and moving the pushing rod forward such that the punching portion is pushed toward the stopping step.

METHOD OF UNILATERAL BIPORTAL ENDOSCOPY AND SURGICAL INSTRUMENT SET USED IN SAME

Disclosed is a method of unilateral biportal endoscopy and a surgical instrument set used in the same. More particularly, the present invention relates to a method of unilateral biportal endoscopy which separately secures a working portal for surgical instruments and an endoscopic portal for an endoscope, thereby providing a more accurate spinal surgery, and to a surgical instrument set which can be effectively applied to the method.

SACROILIAC FUSION SYSTEM

Methods and apparatuses for performing an orthopedic procedure in the sacroiliac region are disclosed. In one form, an aperture is formed that at least partially extends through at least one of an ilium and a sacrum. An undercutting system is inserted into the aperture. The undercutting system includes an insertion apparatus, a probe assembly and a cutting assembly. The probe assembly is moved with respect to the insertion apparatus from a retracted position to an extended position. The probe assembly is manipulated within a joint between the ilium and the sacrum while the probe assembly is in the extended position. The cutting assembly is moved with respect to the insertion apparatus from a retracted position to an extended position. The cutting assembly is manipulated within the joint between the ilium and the sacrum while the cutting assembly is in the extended position to form a fusion region.
