Oscillating decortication burr assembly
An oscillating decorticating burr assembly for decortication of the articular surfaces of joints of the human body is disclosed. The oscillating decorticating burr assembly comprises a burr, a burr-support post, and a handle. Power is imparted to the assembly by way of a user input on the handle causing oscillation of the burr.
Surgical burring tool
An orthopedic burring tool includes a burring tip configured for removal of bone to form a bore in the bone, an elongated intermediate segment having a smooth outer surface along a length of the segment, a conical widening segment at the proximal end of the intermediate segment that widens from the diameter of the burring tip to a diameter that is about twice the burring tip diameter. The widening segment includes an outer surface configured for removal of bone upon rotation of the burring tool. The tool includes an upper segment configured for engagement to a rotary driving tool and having a cylindrical outer surface configured for removal of bone upon rotation of the burring tool for removal of material from bony structure adjacent the bone bore formed by the burring tip.
SURGICAL SYSTEM FOR POSITIONING PROSTHETIC COMPONENT AND/OR FOR CONSTRAINING MOVEMENT OF SURGICAL TOOL
A surgical system includes a robotic arm, a straight end effector configured to be coupled to the robotic arm, an offset end effector configured to be coupled to the robotic arm, and a controller configured to control the robotic arm using first control logic when the straight end effector is coupled to the robotic arm and second control logic when the offset end effector is coupled to the robotic arm.
ADJUSTABLE DRILLING DEVICE AND A METHOD FOR USE THEREOF
A bone removal device, including an elongated shaft having a longitudinal axis, a distal end and a proximal end; a movable bone borer movably coupled to the distal end of the elongated shaft, wherein the movable bone borer is configured to rotate around the longitudinal axis; and a rotatable bone borer adjuster mounted on a proximal side of the elongated shaft and to the movable bone borer, wherein the adjuster is configured to rotate around an axis which is different from a rotation axis of the movable bone borer.
Apparatus and method to access bone marrow
An apparatus and method for penetrating bone marrow is provided. The apparatus may include a housing such as a handheld body, a penetrator assembly, a connector that releasably attaches the penetrator assembly to a drill shaft, a gear mechanism, a motor and a power supply and associated circuitry operable to power the motor. The penetrator assembly may include a removable inner trocar and an outer penetrator or needle. It may also include a grooved trocar that allows bone chips to be expelled as the apparatus is inserted into bone marrow. Various connectors are provided to attach the penetrator assembly to the drill shaft.
Surgical burr
A surgical burr includes prevention part, a shaft and a working part including at least one cutting or grinding surface for processing of a material selected from a bone, a cartilage, a calcified tissue, a tooth and a foreign object within a patient body. The prevention part is configured to have a first position and a second position. In the first position, it at least partially prevents the cutting or grinding surface from processing the material, when a force applied to the prevention part is less than a predetermined amount of force. In the second position, it allows the cutting or grinding surface to process the material, when the force applied to the prevention part is equal or higher than the predetermined amount of force.
Bone and tissue resection devices and methods
Embodiments of bone and tissue resection devices are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a device can include a stationary assembly having a housing, an elongated sleeve extending distally from the housing, and a cutting region disposed distal to the sleeve. The device can further include a drive assembly having a blade shaft extending through the elongated sleeve, the blade shaft having a distal tip with a cutting surface configured to extend into the cutting region when the drive assembly advances distally relative to the stationary assembly. The drive assembly can further include an oscillator coupled to the blade shaft and configured to engage with a source of continuous rotational motion to convert the continuous rotational motion into oscillating motion of the drive shaft. Further, the drive assembly can be configured to slidably couple to the stationary assembly to permit selective translation of the drive assembly relative to the stationary assembly.
Disposable rasp for medical instruments
Disclosed are aspects of a hybrid plastic and co-molded metal cutting head and a method of forming same. The method includes forming a metal rasp head having a fluid pathway therethrough and molding an elongated body with support into the rasp head via said fluid pathway wherein the fluid pathway into one or more sides.
Surgical bit and production method
The invention concerns a surgical drill bit able to be connected to a surgical tool, comprising a flexible stem. The invention also concerns a corresponding method to produce the surgical drill bit.
PROTECTED DRILL
A protected drill is disclosed. The drill may include a housing, and a drill bit disposed at a distal end of the drill. The drill may have a rotatable drive shaft that is configured for coupling to a driver and a main shaft portion extending in a longitudinal direction through the housing. The drill may further include an angled tip portion disposed at a distal end of the drill, and the angled tip portion may be angled with respect to the longitudinal direction and define a drilling axis of the drill bit. The drill may further include a mechanism configured to transfer a rotational force applied to drive shaft through the angled tip portion to the drill bit. The drill may further include a sleeve configured to protect adjacent structures from lateral edges of the drill bit when the drill bit is rotating.
