OSCILLATING DECORTICATION BURR ASSEMBLY
An oscillating decorticating burr assembly for decortication of the articular surfaces of joints of the human body is disclosed. The oscillating decorticating burr assembly comprises a burr, a burr-support post, and a handle. Power is imparted to the assembly by way of a user input on the handle causing oscillation of the burr.
SURGICAL ROTATIONAL TOOL DRIVER AND METHOD
A surgical rotational tool driver and method. The driver includes a driveline extending within a hollow shaft and a head part including connection features for connecting to a connection member of a surgical rotational tool. The connection features of the head part include a housing and a pair of jaw member each including jaws for receiving the connection member. Each jaw member is pivotally mounted for rotation between: a first position for receipt of the connection member and a second position for retaining the connection member. The connection features of the head part further include a locking mechanism including a pair of catches for engaging with a respective catch of each jaw member to lock the jaw members in the second position. The locking mechanism also includes a release member slideably moveable within the housing to release the catches of the locking mechanism from the catches of the jaw members.
Medical device and method for treatment of hip joint
A medical device for delivering an action to an area of a hip joint or its surroundings, inside a human body of a patient, the hip joint comprising a collum femur and a ball shaped caput femur, being the proximal parts of the femoral bone, and an acetabulum, being a bowl shaped part of the pelvic bone, said medical device comprising an elongated member, having a length axis along its elongated distribution, and a first portion having an end being adapted to enter the body of the patient, said first portion of said elongated member having a first portion cross-section area substantially perpendicular to the length axis of the elongated member, said first portion is adapted to pass through a hole in a bone of the patient, the hole having a hole cross-section area, wherein said first portion cross-section area is smaller than said hole cross-section area, the first portion comprising a mounting portion, and a holding member adapted to hold a mechanical element inside the body of said patient, and a mechanical element having a functional status ready to deliver an action inside the body when held by said holding member inside the body of the patient, wherein said mechanical element has a mechanical element cross-section area substantially perpendicular to the length axis of the elongated member, being substantially larger than said first portion cross-section area and unable to pass through the holes when said mechanical element is in said functional status, characterized in that the mechanical element comprises at least one mounting recess for mounting the mechanical element onto the mounting portion of the elongated member in a direction substantially perpendicular to the elongated member, such that a user of the medical device can mount the mechanical element on the elongated member without having access to the end of the first portion of the elongated member, wherein said mechanical element is adapted to be used during an operation in the hip joint or its surroundings, when placed inside the body.
Expandable reamers
An expandable reamer includes, inter alia, an outer tube, an inner shaft, a movable blade, and an actuator assembly. The expandable reamers can be used to remove diseased bone.
MILLING CUTTER FOR ORTHOPAEDIC USE, IN PARTICULAR IN KNEE, PELVIS OR ANKLE SURGERY
An orthopaedic surgical instrument, in particular a milling cutter, including: an inner rod extended along an own longitudinal axis and provided with an attachment end to a motorized member; a tubular envelope wrapping the inner rod; an operating head at a rod end which is opposite said attachment end; a gimbal joint between the rod end and a tool of said operating head such that said tool is extended along an angled axis with respect to the longitudinal axis. The milling cutter according to the invention improves the precision of execution of the positions of the holes in any surgical operation with anatomy which is difficult to get access to, such as in knee, pelvis and ankle.
BONE AND TISSUE RESECTION DEVICES AND METHODS
Embodiments of bone and tissue resection devices are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a device can include a stationary assembly having a housing, an elongated sleeve extending distally from the housing, and a cutting region disposed distal to the sleeve. The device can further include a drive assembly having a blade shaft extending through the elongated sleeve, the blade shaft having a distal tip with a cutting surface configured to extend into the cutting region when the drive assembly advances distally relative to the stationary assembly. The drive assembly can further include an oscillator coupled to the blade shaft and configured to engage with a source of continuous rotational motion to convert the continuous rotational motion into oscillating motion of the drive shaft. Further, the drive assembly can be configured to slidably couple to the stationary assembly to permit selective translation of the drive assembly relative to the stationary assembly.
Robotic systems providing co-registration using natural fiducials and related methods
A method may be provided to operate a medical system. First data may be provided for a first 3-dimensional (3D) image scan of an anatomical volume, with the first data identifying a blood vessel node in a first coordinate system for the first 3D image scan. Second data may be provided for a second 3D image scan of the anatomical volume, with the second data identifying the blood vessel node in a second coordinate system for the second 3D image scan. The first and second coordinate systems for the first and second 3D image scans of the anatomical volume may be co-registered using the blood vessel node identified in the first data and in the second data as a fiducial.
Medical device having an adaptor for attachment to a working member
Provided is a medical device comprising an adaptor having a slot and screw arrangement, the adaptor configured to be connectable to a handpiece; and an extension tube configured to be partially received within the adaptor, the extension tube configured to receive a drive shaft of a working member, wherein the slot and screw arrangement of the adaptor is configured to adjustably lock the extension tube along the drive shaft of the working member. The medical device further comprises a locking ring having one or more slots, the locking ring configured to receive a portion of a handpiece, wherein the one or more slots of the locking ring is configured to work together with a locking pin to lock and secure the drive shaft of the working member.
Surgical fastener
A surgical fastener provided with a curved cutter, an anterior wedge-like tip and a surgeon facing end. Among other things, the surgical fastener's cutter can cut bone or other tissue.
Combination surgical drill and remote grasping device
A surgical instrument is provided. The surgical instrument has a drill bit employable in drilling procedures wherein the drill bit has an internal grasping hook. As a result, the drill bit may not only drill into bone, but may also be used to grasp an object within or part of the body. The present surgical instrument reduces contamination and difficulty which may otherwise result from switching surgical instruments from a drill to a grasping mechanism or from the need to drill multiple holes into the patient's body.
