TRIAL NECK AND METHOD
A trial neck for hip surgery and a method of attaching a trial neck to a femoral canal implement. The trial neck includes a body portion including a bore for receiving a proximal end of a femoral canal implement. The trial neck also includes an elongate neck extending from the body portion. The trial neck further includes a locking mechanism comprising a lever. The lever has a first end. The lever also has a second end. The lever further has an engagement surface. The second end of the lever is actuable to urge the engagement surface against the proximal end of the femoral canal implement to secure the proximal end of the femoral canal implement within the bore.
Surgical instrument and method of positioning an acetabular prosthetic component
A system for use during an orthopaedic surgical procedure includes a femoral broach, an acetabular cup component, and an acetabular alignment guide. The femoral broach includes a mounting post positioned at a superior end of an elongated body. The cup component includes a distal rim and a curved surface extending inwardly from the rim to define a cavity. The alignment guide includes a distal end configured to be coupled to the mounting post and a proximal end configured to be coupled to the distal rim. When coupled to the femoral broach, the guide instrument is sized to orient the acetabular cup component relative to the femoral broach. The acetabular cup component may be a prosthetic cup component or a trial instrument corresponding to the prosthetic cup component.
VARIABLE DIAMETER REAMER
Various embodiments of a variable diameter calcar planer for reaming a boney surface and associated methods of using the same are disclosed. An example device may include a cylindrical body defining a longitudinal axis extending from a proximal end to a distal end and a positioning ring disposed at the distal end. Various devices may include plurality of primary blades that are radially disposed on the positioning ring that are configured for reaming at the first diameter. Various devices may include a collar disposed around the cylindrical body and axially aligned with the longitudinal axis, for example. Some devices may further include a plurality of secondary blades, configured to expand a reaming area by moving the collar towards the distal end. In various embodiments, the collar facilitates reaming of a boney surface at various diameters by moving the blades laterally outward with respect to the longitudinal axis.
FEMORAL FIXATION DEVICES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS
A femoral fixation device may include a shaft and a helical thread disposed about the shaft between a first location and a second location along the shaft. The helical thread may include a concave undercut surface. The femoral fixation device may be configured such that, when the femoral fixation device is implanted within a neck and a head of a femoral bone: the first location, the second location, and the helical thread therebetween may be disposed within the head of the femoral bone; the concave undercut surface may be oriented toward a proximal end of the femoral fixation device; and the concave undercut surface may be configured to transmit at least one force from the head of the femoral bone to the neck of the femoral bone.
GAS SPRING SURGICAL IMPACTING TOOLS
Various exemplary gas spring surgical impacting tools and methods of using gas spring surgical impacting tools are provided. In general, a surgical impacting tool includes a gas spring assembly. The gas spring assembly includes a sealed chamber configured to contained compressed gas therein. The surgical impacting tool also includes a motor configured to cause compression of the gas in the sealed chamber. The compression and decompression of the gas is configured to drive movement of a surgical implement attached to the surgical impacting tool and configured to impact bone.
HIP JOINT INSTRUMENT AND METHOD
A surgical instrument for operating hip joint osteoarthritis in a human patient is provided. The hip joint comprises an acetabulum, being a part of the pelvic bone, and a caput femur, being the proximal part of the femoral bone. The surgical instrument is adapted to assist in the operating of the hip joint osteoarthritis from the abdominal side of the pelvic bone of said human patient.
JOINT REVISION SURGERY APPARATUS
The present application is directed a Joint Revision Surgery Apparatus which includes a surgical knife blade guide block which has a plurality of rearward blade guide slots, a central cavity and a large forward slot having an adjustable knife blade guide pressure plate. The surgical knife blade guide block central cavity houses a stem trunnion securing member and is positioned over the trunnion end of the existing prosthesis to be removed and secured to the prothesis. The guide blade block is secured to the trunnion of the prosthesis to be extracted using a stem trunnion securing member housed within the guide block. Straight, curved and compound curved knife blades are guided by the blade guide slots to cut the prothesis free. The Joint Revision Surgery Apparatus facilitates rapid, efficient and complete removal of an existing prosthesis during joint revision surgery, and significantly increases positive medical outcomes for joint revision procedures.
Medical device and method for treatment of hip joint
A medical device for delivering an action to an area of a hip joint or its surroundings, inside a human body, is provided. The hip joint of a patient comprises a collum femur and a ball shaped caput femur, being the proximal parts of the femoral bone, and an acetabulum, being a bowl shaped part of the pelvic bone. The medical device comprising; an elongated member, having a length axis along its elongated distribution, comprising a first portion, adapted to enter the body of the patient, and a mechanical element, adapted to be used during an operation in the hip joint or its surroundings, inside the body. The first portion of the elongated member comprises a holding member adapted to hold the mechanical element inside the body of the patient, wherein the first portion of the elongated member have a first portion cross-section area substantially perpendicular to the length axis of the elongated member. The first portion is adapted to pass through a hole, in a bone of the patient, the hole having a hole cross-section area. The first portion cross-section area, is adapted to be smaller than said hole cross-section area. The mechanical element have a functional status, ready to deliver said action inside said body, when held by the holding member inside the body of the patient. The mechanical element is adapted to have a mechanical element cross-sectional area substantially perpendicular to the length axis of the elongated member, substantially larger than the first portion cross-sectional area and adapted to be unable to pass through the hole, when the mechanical element is in the functional status.
