Implant and guide

An implant and guide are described, together with methods for configuring the same. The implant and guide are for maxillofacial osteosynthesis and may be provided as a kit. Three-dimensional models of the pre- and post-operative anatomy are used to define attachment points. These attachment points are used to define a structure for the implant and the guide.

In an aspect, a method of manufacturing a surgical kit includes providing one or more medical devices based on a three-dimensional (3D) image of an anatomical structure. The method additionally includes providing packaging based on the 3D image, and providing the surgical kit utilizing the packaging and the one or more medical devices. In another aspect, a surgical kit has one or more contoured packaging surface having a contour that matches a contour of an anatomical structure. The contoured packaging surface has one or more features for receiving one or more medical devices provided based on the contour in the 3D image. The surgical kit additionally has a lid connected under pressure with the one or more contoured packaging surface. The lid has apertures for sterilization of components of the one or more medical devices situated between the lid and the contoured packaging surface.

Computer-assisted planning and execution system

A method for computer-assisted planning of a transplant surgery is provided. The method includes obtaining a computer-readable representation of a donor and recipient skeletal fragment; determining surgical cutting planes on the computer-readable representation of the donor skeletal fragment from which a portion of the donor skeletal fragment from the computer-readable representation of the donor skeletal fragment will be harvested; determining virtual cutting guides; performing a virtual osteotomy to separate the portion of the donor skeletal fragment from the computer-readable representation of the donor skeletal fragment from a remainder portion of the donor skeletal fragment based on a position of the virtual cutting guides that are attached to the computer-readable representation of the donor skeletal fragment; positioning the donor skeletal fragment within a transplant region of the recipient skeletal fragment; and creating a hybrid computer-readable representation comprising the recipient skeletal fragment and the portion of the donor skeletal.

A surgical guide foundation system, device, and methods of making and using same. The surgical guide foundation system may include one or more foundation devices. The one or more foundation devices may include a main body portion, one or more fixation ports formed in the main body portion and forming a passage therethrough, and one or more carrier connectors (e.g., plug connector style latches) formed on the main body portion. The surgical guide foundation system may further include a guide component. The guide component may be configured to be engageable with one or more of the one or more carrier connectors. The main body portion may include protrusions formed on an inner facing surface of the main body portion and extending in a generally perpendicular direction therefrom.

The surgical guides, supports, and systems discloses herein can include an instrument and a patient-specific support. The instrument can be connectable to a surgical support arm and include a guide surface. The patient-specific support can comprise an instrument engagement portion and an anatomy contacting surface. The instrument engagement portion can be configured to receive a portion of the instrument and the anatomy contacting surface contoured to match a contour of an anatomical surface of a patient. When coupled to the patient-specific support, the surgical support arm and the patient-specific support can position the instrument and the guide surface in a predetermined location and orientation relative to the anatomical surface of the patient with increased stability.

The osteotomy guide plate comprises a substrate, an osteotomy guide standardized part, a guide plate retention hole, a nail hole and a drainage channel; wherein the guide plate retention hole is distributed on the surface of the substrate; the outer end side of the nail hole is integrally formed with a standardized sleeve, and a detachably connected protective inner sleeve standardized part is provided within the standardized sleeve. The preparation method comprises parameter design and model printing, wherein an innovative nail hole positioning method is used in the parameter design. The invention is suitable for the osteotomy operation of different parts, with the advantages of convenient production, high precision and long service life; the preparation method improves the accuracy of opening a hole on the osteotomy guide plate.
