UNICOMPARTMENTAL KNEE ARTHROPLASTY

A method of implanting a unicompartmental orthopedic knee implant may include positioning a tibial tray onto a resected patient's tibia, the tibial tray including a body having a joint-facing side opposite a bone-facing side, and inserting a tibial anchor guide into the body of the tibial tray, wherein the tibial anchor guide includes a slot. The method may further include forming a tibia channel in the patient's tibia by inserting a cutting device into the slot of the tibial anchor guide, removing the cutting device from the tibial anchor guide, and inserting a fixation element into the tibia channel, wherein compression is created between the bone-facing side of the body of the tibial tray and the tibia when the fixation element is inserted.

Systems and methods for navigating a pin guide driver

Systems and methods for resecting a knee joint using a navigated pin guide driver system. The navigated pin guide driver system communicates with a navigation system to aid a user in placing cut block pins into the knee joint. The navigated pin guide driver system may include a handle, a reference element that electronically communicates with the navigation system, one or more pin guide tubes that may correspond to one or more cut blocks, and a distal tip that is configured to attach to the bone.

Method and surgical kit for milling a bone

A surgical kit and method for milling a bone, the surgical kit including: a rotatable milling tool including a receiving bore with an abutment portion; a positioning pin insertable in the bone for guiding the milling tool along a milling axis and towards the bone, the positioning pin including a pin shaft receivable in the receiving bore and a pin depth determination element, the pin shaft being abuttable against the abutment portion of the milling tool; and a bone milling guide positionable at a predetermined location on the bone for guiding the positioning pin when the positioning pin is inserted into the bone, the bone milling guide including a pin shaft guiding channel for receiving the pin shaft and a guide depth determination element cooperable with the pin depth determination element to provide an indication that the positioning pin is inserted in the bone at a predetermined depth.

INSTRUMENTS FOR KNEE PLACEMENT

There are provided various embodiments of medical instruments to perform knee surgery. In one embodiment a finned platform for mounting a cutting block is provided. The finned platform can be used on either a femur or tibia to allow for the proper cuts when performing a knee surgery. In another embodiment, a tibial trial is shown having a fin. The fin is useful to reinforce the bone to reduce the risk of fracture during bone preparation. In another embodiment, a reamer is provided having a plurality of cutting flutes. It may be desirable to utilize a guide with the reamer to allow the reamer to cut a non-circular portion of the tibial bone. In yet another embodiment, a plurality of fixation pegs are provided on the tibial implant to allow for easy removal of such implant if a revision surgery becomes necessary.

Methods, systems, and devices for gauging a bone tunnel

Devices, systems, and methods are provided for gauging a bone tunnel. In one exemplary embodiment, a graft repair system can include an elongate pin, an elongate pusher shaft configured to be positioned over one opposed end of the pin when the pin is positioned within a bone tunnel, and a gauge member configured to be positioned over another opposed end of the pin when the pin is positioned within the bone tunnel. When the pusher shaft abuts the bone adjacent one of the open ends of the bone tunnel and the gauge member abuts the bone adjacent the other open end of the bone tunnel, an indicator mark on the pin can be visible through one or more windows formed in the gauge member. The indicator mark's position relative to each of the one or more windows can indicate one or more characteristics related to the bone tunnel.

ROBOTIZED SYSTEM FOR FEMOROACETABULAR IMPINGEMENT RESURFACING
20220265366 · 2022-08-25 ·

Systems and methods are described herein for resurfacing bones, and in particular, for detecting and resurfacing one or more femoroacetabular impingements (FAIs). A FAI resurfacing controller may be used to perform this detecting and resurfacing of FAIs. The FAI resurfacing controller may include a bone model generator to receive bone imaging and to generate a model of at least one osteophyte and of a surface of a native bone surrounding the at least one osteophyte. The FAI resurfacing controller may include an osteophyte identifier to set a virtual 3D boundary surface between native bone surface and the at least one osteophyte. The FAI resurfacing controller may include a resurfacing navigator to generate and output a navigation file. The navigation file may include the model with the 3D boundary surface between native bone surface and the at least one osteophyte.

Systems and methods for preparing a proximal tibia

A method of preparing a tibia to receive a tibial implant component includes performing a first set of cuts to prepare a floor interface surface on the tibia, wherein the floor interface surface includes a portion on each side of a tibial eminence extending above the floor interface surface on the tibia. The method further includes performing a second set of cuts to prepare a tibial eminence wall interface surface, wherein the wall interface surface extends substantially perpendicular to the floor interface surface between the floor interface surface and a top surface of the tibial eminence. The method further includes performing a third set of cuts to prepare a radiused intersection between the floor interface surface and the wall interface surface. The sets of cuts are performed subject to a cutting restraint guide. At least one set of cuts may be performed using a rotary cutter.

A workstation having a pair of posts on either side of a clamping plate where a donor bone may be placed on sequentially cut in three separate cutting paths. Cutting gates are attached to the posts and used to provide cutting paths that can be precisely oriented with respect to the meniscus of the donor bone part using visual alignment without any manual measurements. The graft is affixed to a machining clamp and shaved to appropriately shape the sides and form a radius on the bottom of the graft. A tibia is then prepared by using a drill guide to form a pilot hole and then to drill out a large hole for the graft. The drilled hole is expanded and shaped using a rod guide and chisel and then a rasp. The shaped graft may then be implanted into the shaped hole and sutured in place.
