Fixation device cartridges
Fixation device cartridges. At least one example embodiment is a cartridge including: a first tube; a second tube parallel to first tube; a first spacer coupled to the first tube and the second tube such that slots of the first and second tubes face each other; a second spacer coupled to the first tube and the second tube, the first and second spacers defining a suture volume between the slots of the first and second tubes, and the slot of the first tube and the slot of the second tube open into the suture volume; a first bone anchor disposed within the first tube, a first suture line associated with the first bone anchor and extending through the slot; and a second bone anchor disposed within the second tube and coupled to the first suture line.
Guides and instruments for improving accuracy of glenoid implant placement
A patient specific shoulder guide is provided that includes a hub and a plurality of peripheral members. Each of the peripheral members has a peripheral member height dimension between the patient specific contact surface and a side of the peripheral member opposite the patient specific contact surface. At least one of the peripheral members is a low profile peripheral member in which the peripheral height dimension is less than the peripheral height dimension of at least one other of the peripheral members or is less than the hub height.
Subchondral treatment of joint pain
The embodiments provide devices and methods that both strengthen the bone and stimulate the bone. Bone fractures or non-unions are stabilized, integrated or healed, which results in reduction of a bone defect, such as a bone marrow lesion or edema. In addition, the distribution of forces in a joint are restored or altered to relieve pain. In general, a joint is evaluated by taking an image of the joint and one or more subchondral defects are detected. At least one of the subchondral defects may be diagnosed as the source of pain and an extent of treatment for the subchondral defect is determined. The disclosed devices and techniques are particularly suited for treating chronic defects or injuries, where the patient's natural healing response has not resolved the defect. The present disclosure also provides several exemplary treatment modalities for the different extents of treatment needed.
System of preoperative planning and provision of patient-specific surgical aids
A method of preoperative planning and provision of patient-specific surgical aids includes creating a virtual model of a native patient tissue. A virtual device is placed into a predetermined device orientation relative to the virtual model of the native patient tissue. At least one predetermined landmark orientation is specified for placement of at least one virtual landmark relative to the native patient tissue. A virtual patient-specific template containing the predetermined landmark orientation and having a landmark guiding feature is generated. At least one virtual patient-specific placement guide configured to interact simultaneously with at least one previously placed virtual landmark and the virtual device when the virtual device is in the predetermined device orientation is generated. A physical patient-specific template is created as a tangible representation of the virtual patient-specific template. A physical patient-specific placement guide is created as a tangible representation of the virtual patient-specific placement guide.
Patient-specific numerically controlled instrument
A method for preparing a bone of a joint of a patient includes mounting a patient-specific reference guide on a bone of a joint of a patient. A connecting portion of the reference guide is coupled to a miniaturized numerically controlled instrument having a housing including a controller, a processor and a tool driver. The patient-specific reference guide has a three-dimensional inner surface preoperatively configured to mirror and mate with a corresponding surface of a bone of a joint of a patient in only one position. The patient-specific reference guide is configured to automatically register the numerically controlled instrument to the patient's bone portion intraoperatively. The cutting tool is guided by the controlled with signals from the processor along a patient-specific tool path determined during the preoperative plan for preparing a portion of the bone.
Surgical instrumentation assembly, set and surgical shoulder repair method
This surgical instrumentation assembly is for positioning a shoulder prosthesis, the shoulder prosthesis comprising a patient-specific shoulder implant adapted to fit onto a glenoid cavity of the scapula of a patient. The assembly comprises a patient-specific impacting device having an underside surface congruent with the glenoid cavity of the scapula of the patient, said underside surface being provided with protrusions adapted to perforate the cortical bone of the scapula upon impact of the impacting device against the scapula by a one-sided translation movement.
Glenoid arthroplasty and offset reamers
Arthroplasty components include an articular surface and a bone-facing surface. The bone-facing surface bears at least one anchoring element adapted for an oblique implantation trajectory. The articular surface includes a larger radius of curvature in the superior-inferior direction than in the anterior-posterior direction. An inferior chamfer may be present on the articular surface. Instruments and implantation methods are also disclosed. Reamers include reamer heads coupled to various offset shaft configurations.
Arthroplasty devices and related methods
Arthroplasty jigs and related methods are disclosed. Some of the arthroplasty jigs may comprise a jig body that is configured to align with a surface of a bone, and a positioning component. Certain of the methods may comprise providing such an arthroplasty jig, and aligning the jig body with a surface of a bone so that the positioning component provides at least one of a visible, audible, or tactile indication that such alignment has been achieved. Some of the arthroplasty jigs may comprise a jig body that is configured to align with a surface of a bone, and that is marked with identifying information. Certain of the methods may comprise providing an arthroplasty jig comprising a jig body that is configured to align with a surface of a bone, or providing an arthroplasty jig blank, and marking the arthroplasty jig or the arthroplasty jig blank with identifying information.
Combination driver/anti-rotation handle for shoulder arthroplasty
An instrumentation kit for use in preparing a bone to receive a prosthetic component includes at least one first combination device, the at least one first combination device including a proximal portion configured to couple with a torque providing device and a distal portion configured to couple with a first instrument, the at least one first combination device pivotable between a first position whereat the proximal portion and the distal portion are (i) longitudinally aligned and (ii) configured to transfer a torque received by the proximal portion to the distal portion, and a second position whereat the proximal portion and the distal position are (i) not longitudinally aligned and (ii) configured to transfer a torque received by the proximal portion to the distal portion.
DEVICES AND METHODS FOR SURGERY
Devices and methods for performing a surgical step or surgical procedure with visual guidance using an optical head mounted display are disclosed.
