Guide tool for bone and/or cartilage repair or joint remodeling
A guide tool for guiding surgical instrumentation and facilitating insertion of surgical implants for repair of cartilage and/or bone damage and/or for remodeling of a joint surface for improved mobility in a finger or toe joint is disclosed. The guide tool includes an attachment part including a patient specific contact surface adapted to fit the proximal phalanxes or metatarsal bones in a toe or the distal-, middle-, or proximal phalanxes or metacarpal bones in a finger and further including a directing flange. A design model designing a guide tool described above and the use of the instruments are also disclosed.
Osteotomy plate, plate driver and method for their use
An orthopedic plate is specifically configured for use in osteotomies, in which part of the plate extends into a portion of a first bone segment and part is external to the cortical surface of an adjacent bone segment to fix the segments to allow them to fuse. The plate has a first end and a second end where the end which is inserted into the bone has a chamfer and a through hole having a hole axis optionally at an oblique angle to the longitudinal axis of the plate, and which can receive a screw, peg or pin. The second end of the plate includes a locking screw hole and optionally including a compression slot extending in a direction toward a screw hole in the opposing end. Optionally, the non-locking hole has a shroud that forms an arc or portion of a cylinder over the hole. A plate driver having a recess that holds the plate is used to insert the plate into the bone.
STERILE IMPLANT INSTRUMENTS AND KITS FOR FLEXIBLE JOINT IMPLANTS
Disclosed are sterile instruments and instrument kits for use in surgery, said instruments including a reamer assembly comprising a reamer depth stop and a reamer, a grommet placer instrument, and a sizing instrument for use in joint implant surgery. The invention also concerns a kit for use in joint implant surgery, comprising said reamer assembly, said grommet placer instrument, a wire guide, comprising a wire guide body, and a guide wire. A method for using one or more of the instruments and kit as described herein is also provided.
Intraosseous intramedullary fixation assembly and method of use
An intramedullary assembly for intraosseous bone fusion includes a lag screw member and a tapered screw member. The lag screw member includes a first elongated body, where the first elongated body includes a first threaded portion at a first end and a bulbous portion at a second end. The tapered screw member is coupled to the lag screw member, and the tapered screw member includes a second elongated body, where the second elongated body includes a second threaded portion at a third end, and an opening at a fourth end.
SURGICAL DRILL GUIDE HAVING KEYWAY FOR AXIAL ALIGNMENT OF A FASTENER FOR USE FOR AN ORTHOPEDIC PLATE
A surgical drill guide for positioning, aligning, and of holes to be drilled in bone tissue has retaining means that holds the position and alignment of the drill guide body in a releasable manner with respect to a fastener hole in an orthopedic implant. The retaining means is a key guide that mates with a key way or key ways in or around a threaded locking hole of an orthopedic plate for alignment of a pilot hole and method of using the guide. The key guide has 2 to 8 projections that extend in the direction of the axis of the hole, such as hemi cylindrical projections, and the plate has a corresponding female key way that receives the retaining means. The invention also relates to a method of aligning a locking fastener in a plate at a desired angle relative to a bone by using a surgical guide having a key interface with the plate to position and align a pilot hole.
UPPER EXTREMITY FUSION DEVICES AND METHODS
A fusion implant and fusion members for fusing target bones of an upper extremity. The fusion implant including internally threaded apertures of a first thread lead, and the fusion members including threading of the first thread lead and threading of a second thread lead that is less than the first thread lead. The fusion implant and a targeting instrument being configured to couple to one another in a predefined orientation. The predetermined orientation resulting in alignment of aspects of the fusion implant with aspects of the targeting instrument. A guide clamp for facilitating forming of an implant cavity in adjacent bones for implantation of the fusion implant therein. A surgical method for facilitating fusion of adjacent target bones utilizing a fusion implant, fusion members, a targeting instrument and a guide clamp to reduce space between the adjacent bones such that they at least abut one another.
INTRAMEDULLARY IMPLANT WITH PROXIMAL PLATE AND METHOD FOR ITS USE
An orthopedic implant is specifically configured for use in osteotomies, in which part of the implant extends into an intramedullary portion of a first bone segment and a plate portion is external to the cortical surface of an adjacent bone segment to fix the segments to allow them to fuse. The body of the implant has a first end and a second end where the end which is inserted into the bone has a chamfer and a through hole having a hole axis optionally at an oblique angle to the longitudinal axis of the implant, and which can receive a screw, peg or pin. The second end of the implant includes a plate portion with at least two offset screws.
Bone plate supported by a leg member and used as a lever
System, including apparatus and methods, for fixing bone with a bone plate supported temporarily at a slant on bone by a leg member before the bone plate is used as a lever to reposition a region of the bone. In some embodiments, the leg member may be a post member that attaches to the bone plate by threaded engagement with an aperture of the bone plate. In some embodiments, the bone plate and the leg member may be used near the end of a long bone, such as on a distal portion of a radial bone.
INTERNAL JOINT STABILIZER DEVICE, SYSTEM AND METHOD OF USE
A stabilization device is provided including an axle and a portion that can be affixed to a bone. The device is used to stabilize a joint while allowing motion of the joint along its natural trajectory and it is placed internally in order to prevent pin tract problems. Additionally, methods for using the device are provided that include, in various sequences, inserting the axle into a bone of a joint, adjusting the geometry of the device and attaching the fixable portion to another bone of the joint. The device can be provided as part of a system including an axis trajectory guide useful for locating the axis of rotation of the joint prior to insertion, adjustment and attachment of the device.
