A soft tissue retraction system may include a soft tissue retracting surface on a second side of the support body. The system may include a first guide configured to receive a first pin to anchor the first pin into a bone when the bone is positioned within the bone engaging concavity. The system may include a second guide configured to receive a second pin to anchor the second pin into the bone when the bone is positioned within the bone engaging concavity.
Plate for temporarily bridging fragments of a fracture
The invention relates to a plate (10) for temporarily bridging fragments of a fracture having a proximal portion (11), a distal portion (12), and an intermediate portion (13) disposed between the proximal portion (11) and the distal portion (12). The proximal portion (11) has a proximal attachment zone (14) adapted to be applied and attached to a first tubular bone (1). The distal portion (12) has a distal attachment zone (15) adapted to be applied and attached to a second tubular bone (2). The intermediate portion (13) is adapted to bridge a joint (3) between the first tubular bone (1) and the second tubular bone (2) and thereby at least one further bone, in particular without attachment to the at least one further bone. The plate (10) has at least one curved region (16, 17) between the proximal attachment zone (14) and the distal attachment zone (15). Furthermore, the invention relates to a method for treating a complex joint fracture, in which in particular such a plate can be used.
FIXATION ASSEMBLY AND METHOD OF USE
A fixation assembly for bone fixation and a method for joining bones or bone fragments of a single bone and translating uniform compression to the bones. The fixation assembly comprises a post member coupled to a screw member. The post member comprises a head portion connected to an anchoring portion, wherein the head portion is offset from the anchoring portion by a first angle. The head portion may comprise a curved body annularly extending from a first end to a second end, wherein the first end is separated from the second end by a slot, and wherein the curved body defines a tapered annular bore therein. The anchoring portion comprises a first leg extending from the first end of the curved body and a second leg extending from the second end of the curved body. The screw member comprises a tapered bulbous portion connected to a threaded elongated portion. The screw member is coupled to the post member by advancing the elongated portion of the screw member through the tapered bore of the post member until the tapered bulbous portion of the screw member abuts the tapered bore of the post member thereby creating an interference fit. The first angle of the post member determines the angle of fixation of the post member with respect to the screw member.
DRILL GUIDE ASSEMBLY
A drill guide for controlling the first metacarpal while maintaining the proper trajectory of the drill. The drill guide includes a guide rail having an elongated shaft and a guide body with an aperture extending therethrough. The aperture is configured to receive the elongated shaft of the guide rail. The drill guide also includes a distal ring connected to the elongated shaft. A spike and a hook are both attached to the distal ring and extend therefrom. The hook and the spike extend from opposing positions along the distal ring. A trigger end of the guide body has a trigger that, when actuated, allows the guide body to slide along the guide rail in a proximal direction. A drilling end of the guide body has a rotatable drill bullet extending distally therefrom. The drill bullet includes a pair of arms lined with teeth for engaging the first metacarpal.
Screw targeting guide system and method
A targeting guide includes a body defining a first guide hole sized and configured to receive a guide sleeve therethrough. The first guide hole extends through the body on a first axis. An alignment arm extends between a first end and a second end. The first end is coupled to the body. A tip extends from the second end of the alignment arm. A free end of the tip is aligned with the first axis of the first guide hole.
Surgical staple implant system
A sterile staple implant system is provided for use during a surgery. The staple implant system comprises a group of complementary surgery-specific instruments that are packaged in a sterile state. An instrument tray is configured to preserve the instruments in the sterile state until the staple implant system is opened during the surgery. The instrument tray is configured to provide the surgeon with easy access to the instruments during the surgery. The staple implant system comprises at least a staple inserter and a surgical staple suitable for being implanted in parallel holes drilled across a bone fusion or fixation site of a patient. The surgical staple preferably is loaded in a relaxed configuration into the staple inserter. A staple retention clip retains the surgical staple in the staple inserter until the staple is distracted during the surgery.
Volar distal radius stabilization system
Devices, systems, and methods for bone stabilization, especially volar distal radius stabilization. The stabilization system may include a bone plate having an elongated portion, an enlarged head portion, and a transition region connecting the elongated portion to the enlarged head portion, and the plate including a plurality of through holes. A plurality of fasteners may be configured to extend through one or more of the plurality of through holes in the bone plate and into the bone. The plate may be used to stabilize a fracture in a long bone, such as a radius.
Trapezium Implant for Hemiarthroplasty of the Trapeziometacarpal Joint
A trapezium implant for replacing the distal articular surface of the trapezium at the carpo-metacarpal joint of the thumb by press fit insertion into a prepared channel in a target trapezium, and an insertion guide system and method for inserting the implant. The implant has a saddle-shaped articular surface configured to articulate with a natural existing base of a first metacarpal, articular surface features mimicking natural trapezium bone anatomy and preserving two centers of rotation of the carpo-metacarpal joint, and a single keel extending from a mounting surface and configured to embed the implant into the thickest area of the target trapezium. The single keel minimizes damage to the trapezium and improves surgical implantation. The target trapezium is prepared using an implant insertion guide system including at least one cutting guide and a slot guide, each of which is releasably securable and configured to receive a cutting device.
