DEVICES AND METHODS FOR WOUND CLOSURE
The present disclosure provides methods and devices for wound closure. In some exemplary embodiments, a tissue approximation device is provided. In some embodiments, the tissue approximation device includes a first scissors arm having a proximal end and a distal end and a second scissors arm having a proximal end and a distal end. In some embodiments, the second scissors arm is connected to the first scissors arm at a pivot point. In some embodiments, the tissue approximation device further includes a first rake member connected to the distal end of the first scissors arm via a first articulating joint. In some embodiments, the first rake member includes a plurality of hooks configured to grip tissue.
Mastopexy clamp
A surgical forceps for breast lift procedures has a pair of intersecting arms mounted to each other for scissor-like pivotal movement relative to each other, each arm having a handle portion and a clamp portion, each handle portion including a finger loop and a ratchet lock element for releasably engaging an opposing cooperating element on the other handle portion. The clamp portion of each arm provides an elongate gripping surface, and from the distal ends of each clamp portion extends an elongate foot bar at about 90 degrees to the gripping surface, the bars combining to provide a generally straight lower edge.
The forceps can be manipulated from an open position, to a clamping position where the opposing gripping surfaces engage each other, and the foot bars extend oppositely forming an inverted-T configuration with the clamp portions, and the ratchet lock elements releaseably engage each other. Skin tissue engaged by the gripping surfaces can advantageously be manipulated as desired.
Surgical instrumentation and method
A surgical instrument includes a first member having an inner surface and an outer surface. A second member has an inner surface and an outer surface. At least one of the inner surfaces defines at least one mating element and the outer surfaces are engageable with tissue. The members are relatively movable between a first configuration and a second configuration to space the tissue and define an opening between the members. At least one third member defines at least one mating element engageable with the at least one mating element of the inner surface such that the at least one third member is disposed within the opening. Systems and methods are disclosed.
Surgical retractor
A surgical retractor is disclosed herein. In some embodiments, a surgical retractor includes a body extending from a proximal end to a distal end and having a first portion coupled to a second portion via a hinged connection, wherein the first and second portions are configured to rotate about a body axis; a first radiolucent tip coupled to a distal portion of the first portion; a second radiolucent tip coupled to a distal portion of the second portion; a holder coupled to one of the first or second portions; and a deformable member extending through the holder, wherein the deformable member is configured to be deformed to facilitate fixation of the surgical retractor at a desired location.
Orthopedic Clamps
An orthopedic clamp to assist in reducing the displacement between bone ends of a fracture, and to position a fixation device, during open fracture reduction surgery is described. The clamp includes a holder to hold the fixation device against the bone. The clamp may also swivel in relation to the holder while the position of the fixation device remains unchanged.
Surgical instruments
A surgical instrument is disclosed comprising a housing, a transducer supported within the housing, an end-effector engaged with the transducer, and a clamp including a jaw member movably supported relative to the end-effector between an open position and a closed position. The transducer is configured to produce vibrations. The end-effector defines an axis and a distal tip. The distal tip is movable relative to the axis by vibrations produced by the transducer. The end-effector is configured to be detached from the transducer. The transducer is configured to receive a different end-effector.
ATRAUMATIC TENACULUM FOR FACILITATION OF TRANSCERVICAL PROCEDURES
A medical device used for grasping a body tissue has a main body having a first arm rotatably connected to a second arm at a pivot point. The main body has a proximal end and a distal end. A handle portion and a locking portion are disposed at the proximal end of the main body. A gripping portion including at least one flexible member is disposed at a distal end of the main body. The at least one flexible member is one of a flexible silicone band and a first gel-filled silicone pad and a second gel-filled silicone pad.
SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS WITH PROTECTIVE LOCKING MECHANISMS
Various embodiments relate generally to surgical instruments, tools, and apparatuses for medical use, including, but not limited to, clamps, forceps, hemostats, and pincers, as well as needle holders and drivers and other tools that may include one or more locking mechanisms for surgical and medical use, and, more specifically, to surgical instruments implementing one or more locking mechanisms to, among other things, restrict access of an object to a protective locking mechanism and/or enhance control of granular application of pressure. In some examples, a surgical instrument may include lever members, each of which may include an application portion, a pivot portion, and a contacting portion. The surgical instrument may also include a pivot assembly and one or more locking mechanism portions, at least one of which may include a protective member to restrict access of an object to interpose between locking elements.
BONE REDUCTION KIT
A bone reduction kit to hold a bone fixation plate (20) in position on an at least party reduced bone (16) while the bone fixation plate is fixed to the bone is described. The kit comprises a bone fixation plate (20) having a bone abutting surface and an obverse face (21) and a plurality of screw-receiving though-holes and a bone reduction forceps (1). The forceps comprises a first arm (2) having a proximal part (5) comprising a handle (6A) and a bifurcated distal part having a first fork (8A) with a first distal foot (9A) and a second fork (8B) with a second distal foot (9B), and a second arm (3) having a proximal part (10) comprising a handle (6B) and a distal part (11) comprising a bone engaging jaw (13) configured to engage a second surface (24) of the bone (16). The second arm is pivotally attached to the first arm by a first joint (4) disposed between the respective proximal and distal parts of the first and second arms. The obverse face (21) of the bone fixation plate (20) comprises two spaced-apart depressions (22) positioned and dimensioned to mate with first and second distal feet (9A, 9B) of the forceps whereby when the forceps is clamped on the partly reduced bone and plate, lateral movement of the plate with respect to the bone is prevented.
MULTIFUNCTIONAL SURGICAL INSTRUMENT
A multifunctional surgical instrument for extension of laparotomic, laparoscopic, robotic and thoracotomic incisions allows at the same time the spreading apart of the cutaneous/subcutaneous corners, pinching and lifting of the deep parietal layer, its dissection with the electrosurgical knife and protection of the surrounding and underlying tissues, particularly the intestinal ansae in the peritoneal cavity, during the dissection itself.
