STIFFENING DEVICE ADAPTED TO COOPERATE WITH A FLEXIBLE KIDNEY STONE EXTRACTOR
A stiffening device is disclosed that is adapted to cooperate with a flexible kidney stone extractor. The stiffening device includes a tube having a lumen sized to receive a part of flexible kidney stone extractor; a diversion member having a channel that is configured to receive a part of the flexible kidney stone extractor; and a connector coupled between the tube and the diversion member. The connector allows the channel of the diversion member to communicate with the lumen of the tube. A proximal portion of the connector is connected to the diversion member and a distal portion of the connector is connected to the tube.
SINGLE PORT LAPAROSCOPIC ACCESS SYSTEM WITH EXTERNAL TOOL SUPPORT
A system for performing single port laparoscopic procedures includes a deployment frame and a plurality of tools. The tools are pivotally mounted on the frame and have end effectors which are translatably and rotatably disposed in the tool. A handle at the proximal end of the tool controls an end effector at the distal end of the tool. Movement of the tools relative to the frame is constrained so that they remain in a fixed geometric relationship which prevents the tools from interfering with each other during laparoscopic procedures.
BENT TUBULAR SHAFT AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME
A tubular shaft for a tubular shaft instrument includes a hollow shaft component, an actuating rod arranged in the hollow shaft component, and functional elements that are attached at the distal ends of the shaft component and/or of the actuating rod. The actuating rod is axially displaceable relative to the hollow shaft component to move the distal sections of the functional elements toward one another, past one another, and/or away from one another. The actuating rod includes at least one bending area in which flexible segments and support segments alternate and in which the actuating rod has significantly less bending resistance than outside the at least one bending area. A friction-reducing layer on the at least one bending area of the actuating rod reduces the friction of the actuating rod on the inside wall of the shaft component.
SINGLE PORT INSTRUMENTS
Surgical tools that can be used in single port laparoscopic procedures can include a low-profile handle assembly to minimize tool interference adjacent the incision site. For example, a handle assembly for a surgical instrument can have a generally in-line configuration extending linearly along a central longitudinal axis of an elongate shaft of the instrument. A linkage mechanism including a trigger, an actuation link, and an actuation shaft can be positioned within the in-line handle. The linkage mechanism can be pivoted between an open position in which end effectors of the instrument are open and a toggle position in which the end effectors are locked closed. A locking mechanism such as a ratchet mechanism can also be used to lock the end effectors. A surgical dissector can include gripping jaws having a curved profile or an angled elongate shaft to minimize tool interference and maximize visibility within a procedure site.
IVC FILTER RETRIEVAL KIT
A surgical kit used for removing a vascular filter, particularly an Inferior Vena Cava (IVC) filter. The surgical kit includes a forceps-tool and a sheath. The forceps-tool includes a pair of interlocking-jaw members configured to grasp a hook of the vascular filter in a clamped-position. Once clamped, the sheath can be extended over a body of the vascular filter to retrieve and remove the vascular filter.
Devices and Methods for Positioning of an Implant
A device for positioning a bone plate includes a body having a first end having a first curved portion and a second end having a second curved portion. Each curved portion terminates at an abutment. Each abutment has a first diameter and the curved portions have a second diameter less than the first diameter. The first end secures the positioning device to a bone plate and the second end secures the positioning device to a soft tissue elevator.
Surgical instrument comprising a control system that uses input from a strain gage circuit
A surgical instrument is disclosed comprising a control system and a strain gage circuit. The operation of the control system is modifiable by an input from the strain gage circuit.
Sterile field interactive control displays
An interactive control unit is disclosed. The interactive control unit includes an interactive touchscreen display, an interface configured to couple the control unit to a surgical hub, a processor, and a memory coupled to the processor. The memory stores instructions executable by the processor to receive input commands from the interactive touchscreen display located inside a sterile field and transmit the input commands to the surgical hub to control devices coupled to the surgical hub located outside the sterile field.
Instrument for surgery
Provided is an instrument for surgery and, more specifically, to an instrument for surgery which can be manually operated in order to be used for laparoscopic surgery or various types of surgery.
Handheld electromechanical surgical device including load sensor having spherical ball pivots
A force sensor arrangement for use in a surgical device includes a support block supported within the surgical device and defining a support block surface; a load sensor disposed axially adjacent the support block, the load sensor defining a sensor surface; and a spherical disc interposed between the support block and the load sensor, and in contact with the support block surface and the sensor surface, wherein the spherical disc defines a first side in contact with the sensor surface, and a second side in contact with the support block surface, wherein the second side of the spherical disc has a spherical profile and the support block surface has a complimentary spherical profile.
