Surgical instrument with two-stage actuation gear mechanism
An instrument including an actuation gear mechanism that provides two functions of a tool. The actuation gear mechanism comprises a cam mechanism and a gear segment mechanism. The circumference of the cam disk of the cam mechanism—in a first section (α1)—is a spiral curve for generating a stroke for closing the forceps tool, while the circumference of the cam disk—in a second, adjoining, angular range (α2)—is circular. When the cam disk with the circular curved line biases the spring means, no further movement takes place on the output of the cam mechanism. Preferably, two congruent cam disks are provided, whereby these—together with the driving gear and the segment gear, as well as the shaft—form a one-piece plastic injection-molded part. The installation space between the cam disks can be utilized for a slide with a gear rack for shifting the knife.
Forceps jaw flanges
Forceps can include a drive pin, an outer tube, a first jaw, a second jaw, and an inner shaft. The outer tube can extend along a longitudinal axis. The first jaw can be pivotably connected to the outer tube. The first jaw can include a first flange that can be located at a proximal portion of the first jaw. The first flange can include a first chamfered edge configured to limit extension of the first flange laterally beyond an outer surface of the outer tube when the first jaw is in a closed position. The inner shaft can be located within the outer tube and can extend along the longitudinal axis.
Surgical instrument
A surgical instrument includes a steering unit capable of articulation and a locking device connected to the steering unit and configured to lock or unlock at least any one of a pitch motion or a yaw motion of the steering unit, in which the locking device includes a first body part coupled to the steering unit, a second body part coupled to the steering unit and capable of moving relative to the first body part, and a locking unit capable of moving between the first body part and the second body part and simultaneously contacting the first body part and the second body part.
Handle for electric surgical stapler
A handle for an electric surgical stapler. The electric surgical stapler includes an end effector. The handle includes a casing, a linear motor, a power transmission mechanism, and a quick change interface. The linear motor is disposed in the casing and configured to supply linear motion. The power transmission mechanism transmits the linear motion from the linear motor to the end effector. The quick change interface is connected to the end effector.
Surgical instrument
Provided is a surgical instrument including: an end tool including a first jaw and a second jaw configured to rotate independently; an operator including a pitch operator controlling a pitch motion of the end tool, a yaw operator controlling a yaw motion of the end tool, and an actuation operator controlling an actuation motion of the end tool; an operating force transmitter including a first jaw wire connected with the first jaw to transmit an operation of the operator to the first jaw, a second jaw wire connected with the second jaw to transmit an operation of the operator to the second jaw, and one or more differential members transmitting a rotation of the yaw operator or the actuation operator to the first jaw or the second jaw via the first jaw wire or the second jaw wire; and a connector configured to extend in a first direction (X axis) and having one end portion coupled to the end tool and the other end portion coupled to the operator to connect the operator and the end tool, wherein the pitch operator is configured to rotate around a second direction (Y axis) perpendicular to the first direction; and at least a portion of the operator is configured to be more adjacent to the end tool than a rotating axis of the operator in at least any one operation state of the operator.
Bipolar surgical instrument comprising a reusable handle and a single-use tool
A surgical instrument includes a hand piece having a fixed branch and a displaceable branch for actuating a first tool and/or second tool, a guide device in which a force transmission device is arranged to be displaceable longitudinally and/or rotationally, the force transmission device coupled, on the proximal side, to the fixed branch and/or displaceable branch and coupled, on the distal side, to the first tool and/or second tool, and a connection device on which the guide device can be coupled to the hand piece in an insertable and detachable manner by a coupling simultaneously providing a holding force for holding the guide device in the connection device, a bipolar electrical contact on the distal side of the hand piece for parts of the instrument requiring energy, and degrees of freedom for longitudinal and/or rotational movement of the guide device and/or force transmission device.
Surgical instrument soft stop
A surgical system comprising an elongate shaft and an end effector is disclosed herein. The end effector comprises a first jaw, a second jaw, and a staple cartridge comprising staples removably stored therein, wherein the first jaw is movable relative to the second jaw. The surgical system further comprises a first rotatable drive system configured to close the first jaw and a second rotatable drive system. The second rotatable drive system comprises a drive screw, a drive member movable between a proximal position and a distal position during a staple firing stroke, and a sled configured to eject the staples from the staple cartridge during the staple firing stroke. The sled is not pulled proximally by the drive member when the drive member is retracted. The end effector, the drive screw, and the sled comprise a replaceable assembly.
Surgical instrument comprising an articulation system lockable to a frame
A surgical instrument comprising a shaft, an end effector rotatable relative to said shaft about an articulation joint, an articulation system configured to rotate the end effector, and an articulation lock. The articulation lock is configured to selectively couple the articulation system to a frame of the shaft. In various embodiments, the surgical instrument further comprises a lock plate movable within the shaft frame. In such embodiments, the articulation lock is configured to lock the articulation system to the lock plate.
Surgical forceps with bilateral and unilateral jaw members
An endoscopic bipolar forceps includes a housing having a shaft extending therefrom with an end effector disposed at a distal end thereof. The end effector assembly includes a first and second jaw members having cam slots defined therein with distal and proximal sections at different angles relative to a longitudinal axis. Upon initial actuation of a handle, a cam pin engages the distal cam section of the first jaw member causing it to move relative to the second jaw member while the second jaw member remains stationary. Upon continued actuation of the handle, the cam pin engages the proximal cam section of the first jaw member causing the first jaw member to remain stationary while the second jaw member cams relative to the first jaw member to close against tissue disposed between the first and second jaw members.
Actuation mechanisms for tissue specimen retrieval devices and tissue specimen retrieval devices incorporating the same
A tissue specimen retrieval device includes an outer shaft including a proximal portion and a distal portion. The distal portion of the outer shaft includes a first jaw defining a first side of a lumen in the distal portion of the outer shaft. A second jaw defines a second side of the lumen in the distal portion of the outer shaft. The first and second jaws are actuatable between a closed configuration and an expanded configuration in which the first and second jaws are spaced relative to each other. A tissue specimen bag is supported by the first jaw and the second jaw. A bag brim of the tissue specimen bag defines a collapsed configuration when positioned in the lumen defined by the first jaw and the second jaw and an open configuration when the first and second jaws are in the expanded configuration.
