Manual release assembly for robotic surgical tool
A surgical tool includes a drive housing that houses a plurality of drive cable capstans, an elongate shaft that extends from the drive housing, and an end effector operatively coupled to a distal end of the elongate shaft. A plurality of drive cables extend between the drive housing and the end effector, wherein each drive cable is associated with a corresponding drive cable capstan and rotation of the drive cable capstans correspondingly moves the drive cables to articulate the end effector. A manual release assembly is coupled to the drive housing and includes a release switch that is manually movable between a disengaged position and an engaged position. When the release switch is manually moved to the engaged position, the drive cable capstans are rotated to move the drive cables and thereby manually articulate the end effector.
Tool exchange system for a surgical robot
A surgical tool exchanger includes an elongated base having a first end and a second end. The surgical tool exchanger also includes an end effector configured to receive a replaceable surgical tool and an elbow configured to allow the end effector to pivot with respect to the elongated base. The surgical tool exchanger further includes an actuator connected to the second end of the elongated base. The actuator is operatively connected to the end effector and is configured to cause the end effector to retain the replaceable surgical tool in a first actuation state and release the replaceable surgical tool in a second actuation state.
METHODS AND DEVICES FOR TISSUE GRASPING AND ASSESSMENT
Devices, systems and methods are provided for stabilizing and grasping tissues such as valve leaflets, assessing the grasp of these tissues, approximating and fixating the tissues, and assessing the fixation of the tissues to treat cardiac valve regurgitation, particularly mitral valve regurgitation.
Magnaretractor system and method
A system and method for performing surgical procedures within a body cavity, e.g. abdomen, uses a magnetized device is utilized to allow a surgeon to control intra-abdominal organs and objects. The system and method allows a surgeon to perform an intra-abdominal procedure without the need to position surgical tools inside of the body cavity. Additional surgical ports are not necessary as the magnetized device allows the surgeon to retract or position various objects within the abdomen.

METHOD FOR OPERATING A SURGICAL INSTRUMENT
A surgical instrument is configured to compensate for battery pack and drivetrain failures. One method includes generating a firing sequence, determining whether a subset of rechargeable battery cells is damaged during the firing sequence, and stepping-up an output voltage of the battery pack to complete the firing sequence in response to a determination that a subset of the rechargeable battery cells is damaged. Another method includes generating a mechanical output to motivate a drivetrain to transmit a motion to a jaw assembly of the surgical instrument, activating a safe mode in response to an acute failure of the drivetrain, and activating a bailout mode in response to a catastrophic failure of the drivetrain. Another method includes driving a drivetrain, sensing and recording vibration information from the drivetrain, generating an output signal based on the vibration information, and determining a status of the surgical instrument based on the output signal.
VIRTUAL REALITY SURGICAL TOOLS SYSTEM
A method and system for use in surgery, which includes a grasper having a jaw, and a grasper housing having a proximal end and distal end and defining a docking opening, and a tool having a tool housing having a proximal end, a distal end and defining an inner surface, and a robotic device operably coupled to the proximal end of the grasper housing, and configured to actuate the jaw of the grasper. The tool housing having an operative assembly at the distal end of the tool housing, and the tool housing defining a docking assembly at the proximal end of the tool housing. The operative assembly having a fulcrum operably coupled to the tool housing, a first lever operably connected to the fulcrum, an instrument operably coupled to the first lever, and an actuator operably coupled to the tool housing and the first lever.
