MEDICAL DEVICES WITH DETACHABLE PIVOTABLE JAWS
Medical systems, devices and methods are provided for engaging tissue, e.g. for clipping tissue, closing a perforation or performing hemostasis. Generally, the medical system including a housing, first and second jaws rotatable relative to the housing, a driver, and an elongate drive wire. The elongate drive wire may be disconnected from the driver, first and second jaws, and the housing, which are left in vivo engaged with the tissue.
Surgical instrument comprising a tissue thickness lockout and speed control system
A surgical instrument comprising a tissue thickness lockout and a firing speed control system is disclosed.
ACTUATOR FOR RELEASING A TISSUE THICKNESS COMPENSATOR FROM A FASTENER CARTRIDGE
A fastener cartridge assembly for use with a surgical end effector. The fastener cartridge assembly can comprise a cartridge body having fastener cavities, fasteners removably positioned in the fastener cavities, a layer of material releasably secured relative to the cartridge body, a connector configured to secure the layer of material to the cartridge body at a location distal to at least one fastener cavity, and an actuator. The layer of material can be a tissue thickness compensator. When actuated, the actuator can overcome the connector, and can overcome the connector prior to the removal of the fasteners from the fastener cavities. The actuator can be actuated at a location proximal to at least one fastener cavity, and can extend distally past at least one fastener cavity toward the connector.
Guide tube systems and methods
Disclosed herein are various systems and methods for guiding, supporting, and/or housing instruments. One exemplary system includes a guide tube having a manipulation section and mated with rails carrying instrument control members. Moving the rails with respect to the guide tube, or another point of reference, can control movement of the manipulation section.
MEDICAL DEVICE FOR TISSUE HEMOSTASIS OR CLOSURE
A medical device for tissue hemostasis or closure that is used by means of an endoscope, the medical device comprising: a handle (1); a sheath apparatus (2) attached to the handle (1); a clamping apparatus (3) comprising a clamping base (6) and at least or exactly two clamping arms (7a, 7b), the clamping base (6) specifically being a sleeve and being disposed on a distal end of the sheath apparatus (2); a control wire (4) that extends to pass through the sheath apparatus (2) and that can move reversibly in a distal direction and a proximal direction; and an actuator (5), the actuator (5) being coupled to a proximal end of the control wire (4) and being capable of actuating such that the control wire (4) moves reversibly in the distal direction and the proximal direction.
SURGICAL STAPLING INSTRUMENT
A surgical instrument includes an elongate shaft and an end effector. The end effector includes a jaw, and a coupling member configured to receive a first and second reload and to removably couple the first and second reload to the end effector. The coupling member is configured to retain the first reload in a closed position relative to the jaw such that the jaw and the first reload have a tissue gap therebetween. The coupling member is configured to retain the second reload in a closed position relative to the jaw such that the jaw and the second reload have a tissue gap therebetween that is larger than the first tissue gap. The instrument is designed to accommodate reloads with different tissue gaps between the first jaw and the reload, thereby allowing an operator to treat tissue of varying sizes, shapes and thicknesses with the same surgical instrument.
Manual release assembly for robotic surgical tool
A manual release assembly for a surgical tool includes a first release plate including a first pair of arms engageable with a first pair release gears arranged within a drive housing, a second release plate including a second pair of arms engageable with a second pair release gears arranged within the dive housing, and a first angled slot defined in the first release plate and a second angled slot defined in the second release plate. A release switch provides a transition pin extendable into the angled slots and manually movable between disengaged and engaged positions. When in the disengaged position, the arms are disengaged from the release gears, and when manually moved to the engaged position, the transition pin moves through the angled slots and urges the release plates in opposing lateral directions such that the arms engage and rotate the release gears.
ROBOTIC SURGICAL STAPLER ASSEMBLY CONFIGURED TO USE STAPLER RELOAD
A robotic surgical assembly includes a drive assembly and a shaft assembly. The drive assembly is detachably mountable to a surgical robot and includes roll, pitch, and clamp/fire inputs configured to drivingly couple with respective outputs of the surgical robot. The shaft assembly is mounted to the drive assembly and configured to detachably couple with a stapler reload assembly that includes a reload roll shaft, a reload pitch shaft, and a reload clamp/fire shaft. The shaft assembly includes a roll shaft, a pitch shaft, and a clamp/fire shaft. The roll shaft is drivingly coupled with the roll input and configured to detachably couple to the reload roll shaft. The pitch shaft is drivingly coupled with the pitch input and configured to detachably couple to the reload pitch shaft. The clamp/fire shaft is drivingly coupled with the clamp/fire input and configured to detachably couple to the reload clamp/fire shaft.
STAPLE CARTRIDGE COMPRISING STAPLES POSITIONED WITHIN A COMPRESSIBLE PORTION THEREOF
A fastener cartridge can comprise a support portion, a tissue thickness compensator positioned relative to the support portion, and a plurality of fasteners positioned within the support portion and/or the tissue thickness compensator which can be utilized to fasten tissue. In use, the fastener cartridge can be positioned in a first jaw of a surgical fastening device, wherein a second jaw, or anvil, can be positioned opposite the first jaw. To deploy the fasteners, a staple-deploying member is advanced through the fastener cartridge to move the fasteners toward the anvil. As the fasteners are deployed, the fasteners can capture at least a portion of the tissue thickness compensator therein along with at least a portion of the tissue being fastened.
Endoscopic instrument
An endoscopic instrument is provided and includes a housing including an elongated shaft assembly extending distally therefrom. The elongated shaft assembly includes inner and outer shaft members. The inner and outer shaft members are removably coupled to the housing and the outer shaft member is movable with respect to the inner shaft member. An end effector is operably supported at the distal end of the outer shaft member and includes a pair of jaw members configured for treating tissue. A bushing operably couples to the inner and outer shaft members of the shaft assembly and selectively and releasably couples to the housing. The bushing includes one or more mechanical interfaces configured to engage one or more slots defined through the inner shaft member and one or more slots defined through the outer shaft member to release the inner and outer shaft members from the housing.
