METHOD FOR COMMUNICATING WITH SURGICAL INSTRUMENT SYSTEMS
A method for adjusting the operation of a surgical instrument using machine learning in a surgical suite is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of gathering data during surgical procedures, wherein the surgical procedures include the use of a surgical instrument, analyzing the gathered data to determine an appropriate operational adjustment of the surgical instrument, and adjusting the operation of the surgical instrument to improve the operation of the surgical instrument.
ELECTROSURGICAL FORCEPS
An electrosurgical forceps includes first and second shaft members and first and second jaw members extending distally from the respective first and second shaft members. A pivot couples the first and second shaft members with one another such that the first and second shaft members are movable relative to one another between a spaced-apart position and an approximated position to move the first and second jaw members relative to one another between an open position and a closed position. The jaw members are configured to facilitate tissue treatment, tissue division, and blunt tissue dissection.
Forceps guide plug
A surgical tool can include an outer tube, an end effector, an inner tube, and a distal plug. The outer tube can extend along a longitudinal axis and the outer tube can include a pair of outer arms. The end effector can be connected to the outer arms. The inner tube can be located within the outer tube and can extend along the longitudinal axis. The inner tube can be connected to the end effector and the inner tube can be translatable along the outer tube to operate the end effector. The distal plug can be securable to the outer tube between the outer arms proximal of the end effector. The distal plug can include a wire routing bore extending therethrough.
SURGICAL STAPLING DEVICE WITH ELONGATED TOOL ASSEMBLY AND METHODS OF USE
A surgical stapling device includes an elongated tool assembly having spaced first and second jaws positioned to receive a body organ. The length of the tool assembly (which may have a curved configuration) is selected to receive and staple and/or transect a body organ in a single actuation of the tool assembly.
Device for inserting neural probes
A probe insertion device for a neural probe structure with a plurality of probes to simultaneously insert the plurality of probes into a nerve includes a nerve holder to fix the nerve surrounding an outer circumference of the nerve, and a probe holder positioned outside in a radial direction of the nerve holder to fixedly support the probes surrounding a circumference of the nerve holder. The probe holder includes a plurality of sections (“probe holder sections”) arranged radially with respect to the nerve holder and moveable in a radial direction of the nerve holder, and the plurality of probe holder sections simultaneously moves the plurality of probes toward the nerve holder having fixed the nerve, so that the plurality of probes is simultaneously inserted into the nerve in a radial shape when viewed in a lengthwise direction of the nerve.
Forceps blade control
A surgical tool can include a shaft, a pin, an end effector, and a translating member. The shaft can define a longitudinal axis. The pin can be located at a distal portion of the shaft. The end effector can be connected to the shaft. The translating member can be positioned laterally inward of the shaft. The translating member can include a track and the pin can extend into the track to limit translation of the translating member along the longitudinal axis with respect to the end effector.
SURGICAL TOOL WITH REDUCED ACTUATION FORCE
A surgical tool including a housing having a proximal end and a distal end the housing including a guide rail. The tool also includes a yoke slidably coupled to the housing, a handle pivotally coupled to the housing, and a link coupling the handle to the housing, the link having a first end and a second end, the first end of the link rotatably coupled to the handle and the second end of the link rotatably coupled to the yoke and slidable within the guide rail. The tool further includes a yoke pivot pin pivotably coupling the second end of the link to the yoke and a handle pivot pin coupling the link to the handle, wherein the handle pivot pin is disposed proximal compared to the yoke pivot pin.
Vessel sealing with fine dissection function
An electrosurgical forceps includes a first elongated shaft member including a first handle member and a first jaw member having a first tissue contacting surface, and a second elongated shaft member including a second handle member and a second jaw member having a second tissue contacting surface. At least one of the first and second handle members is movable relative to the other between an open position, a first approximated position where the first and second tissue contacting surfaces are diametrically opposed to one another, and a second approximated position where the first and second tissue contacting surfaces are laterally offset from one another. A handle connector assembly is selectively engageable with the second handle member and is configured to selectively communicate electrosurgical energy between the first and second tissue contacting surfaces when the first and second handle members are disposed in the first approximated position.
METHOD OF HUB COMMUNICATION WITH SURGICAL INSTRUMENT SYSTEMS
A method for downloading data from a surgical hub to a surgical instrument is disclosed. The method comprises assembling a first shaft assembly to a handle and downloading a first set of operational data from the surgical hub to the handle once the first shaft assembly is attached to the handle. The method further comprises assembling a second shaft assembly to the handle and downloading a second set of operational data from the surgical hub to the handle once the second shaft assembly is attached to the handle, wherein the second set of operational data is different than the first set of operational data.
Devices and methods for positioning of an implant
A device for positioning a bone plate includes a body having a first end having a first curved portion and a second end having a second curved portion. Each curved portion terminates at an abutment. Each abutment has a first diameter and the curved portions have a second diameter less than the first diameter. The first end secures the positioning device to a bone plate and the second end secures the positioning device to a soft tissue elevator.
