MEDICAL DEVICES AND RELATED METHODS
According to one aspect, a medical device may be configured for use with an endoscope and may include a tool. The tool may include an actuator, at least one extension at a distal portion of the actuator, and a distal end. The at least one extension may extend radially outward from the actuator and may have an edge configured to fragment debris within a body. The medical device may also include a cap configured for coupling to a distal end of the endoscope, and the cap may include a body defining an opening and a cavity. The opening may be configured to align with optics of the endoscope, and the at least one extension may be positioned within the cavity of the body.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PERMANENT FEMALE CONTRACEPTION
Medical devices and methods for treating and occluding a female patient's fallopian tubes to provide permanent birth control or sterilization.
Material removal device and method of use
A catheter having a tubular body and a rotatable shaft disposed within a lumen of the tubular body. A cutting element is coupled to the rotatable shaft, the cutting element having a cutting edge, the cutting element and rotatable shaft being longitudinally moveable within the tubular body between a stored position in which the cutting element is parallel a longitudinal axis of the tubular body and a cutting position in which the cutting element is deflected between the proximal and distal ends of the tubular body to extend beyond an outer diameter of the tubular body. The cutting element is configured to cut material from the wall of a vessel at a treatment site as the catheter is pushed distally through the treatment site. The catheter includes a collection chamber positioned proximally of the cutting window.
Cannula for tissue disruption
A coiled shaft for tissue disruption is described herein where a flexible aspiration cannula has a first portion and a second portion formed of the coiled shaft. The cannula is configured in a particular embodiment to rotate over the length of the cannula to disrupt the matrix of bone marrow without the cannula buckling or collapsing. The cannula also includes a disruption tip coupled to the coiled shaft. The disruption tip has a radiused portion along a distal tip face of the disruption tip.
Arthroscopic devices and methods
An arthroscopic cutting probe includes an elongated shaft assembly having a distal end, a proximal end, and a longitudinal axis therebetween. A working end at the distal end of the elongated shaft assembly includes a first active electrode and a second active electrode The shaft assembly is rotates the first electrode relative to the second electrode about the longitudinal axis, and a return electrode is carried on the shaft assembly proximal of the working end. The first and second active electrodes are electrically coupled to each other and electrically isolated from the return electrode.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR TISSUE CAPTURE AND REMOVAL
Components, systems and kits for capturing and removing tissue from mammalian bodies include a tissue container that may be introduced into a body cavity and within which a tissue specimen may be placed, cut and removed from the body cavity. Methods of using these components, systems and kits are also described.
AXIAL LENGTHENING THROMBUS CAPTURE SYSTEM
Systems and methods can remove material of interest, including blood clots, from a body region, including but not limited to the circulatory system for the treatment of pulmonary embolism (PE), deep vein thrombosis (DVT), cerebrovascular embolism, and other vascular occlusions.
WOUND RETRACTOR AND SPECIMEN BAG ASSEMBLY
A surgical apparatus of the present disclosure includes a wound retractor having a specimen bag attached thereto. The wound retractor includes a proximal ring, a distal ring, and a film extending therebetween. The specimen bag is attached to the distal ring of the wound retractor. Kits of the present disclosure include the surgical apparatus and a wound guard. Where the tissue specimen to be removed from the patient is too large for passing through an incision or wound, the wound guard is introduced into a lumen of the wound retractor. Mechanical devices such as scalpels or morcellators may then be introduced into the lumen of the wound guard and manipulated adjacent the wound guard to break up the tissue specimen without damaging the specimen bag or wound retractor. Methods for using the surgical apparatus and kits of the present disclosure are also provided.
GUARD DEVICE FOR A TISSUE CONTAINMENT SYSTEM
Apparatus for placement in an incision of a natural body opening comprises a retractor having a sleeve (655, 656, 657) and a guard device comprising overlapping petals (662) depending from a mounting ring (661). The guard device is movable by the retractor from an insertion configuration to a deployed configuration as the retractor sleeve is moved to the retracting configuration.
EXCISING INSTRUMENT, SYSTEM INCLUDING THE SAME, AND METHOD FOR REMOVING A TISSUE SPECIMEN OR ORGAN WITHIN A FLEXIBLE POUCH EXTENDING THROUGH A SMALL INCISION OR NATURAL OPENING IN A PATIENT
A system and method for removing a tissue specimen or organ from the body of patient is disclosed. The system includes a bag and an excising instrument. The tissue specimen or organ is located in the bag, which is located in the patient's body. The instrument comprises a guide and a cutter. The guide is configured for introduction into the bag. The cutter is rotatable within the guide and includes a central passageway and an annular cutting blade. The cutting blade is brought into engagement with a peripherally located portion of the tissue specimen and rotated to produce a tangentially cut peripheral portion while a pulling force is applied to the tissue specimen through the central passageway. The pulling force rotates the tissue specimen within the bag to effect the production of the tangentially cut peripheral portion and to move the tangentially cut peripheral portion out of the patient's body. Gas pressure may be applied to inflate the bag to facilitate placement of the excising instrument.
