The housing may include a contact arrangement that is configured to permit power to be supplied to the motor only when the housing is operably attached to the actuator arrangement.

PREDICTION OF HEMOSTASIS ISSUES BASED ON BIOMARKER MONITORING
A computing system may predict a complication based on measurements of related biomarker(s) obtained via one or more sensing systems, and generate an adjustment of a surgical parameter associated with a surgery. The biomarker measurements may include pre-surgical and/or in-surgical measurements. The hemostasis-related biomarker(s) measured pre-surgery may include blood pressure, blood pH, edema, heart rate, blood perfusion rate, coagulation status and/or the like. Based on the prediction, the computing system may generate a control signal configured to alter a matter in which a surgical cutting and stapling device and/or a surgical energy operate, to adjust a surgical procedure plan, to adjust to a surgical instrument selection, indicate a probability of the hemostasis complication, and/or to indicate a suggested adjustment to surgical procedure plan, surgical approach, and/or surgical instrument selection.
SURGICAL INSTRUMENT SOFT STOP
A surgical instrument includes a drive member movable by a drive motor between a home position and an end of stroke. A mechanical stop is disposed at or near the end of stroke and is structured to increase resistance to movement of the drive member from a first position to a second position. A control system detects a current spike associated with the increased resistance and interrupts power to the drive motor.
Automated end effector component reloading system for use with a robotic system
A stapling instrument for use with a robotic surgical system comprising a drive system including at least three motor-driven drivers is disclosed. The stapling instrument comprises a housing, a shaft, an articulation joint, and a loading unit. The housing comprises a drive interface defined on an exterior surface of the housing. The drive interface is operably engageable with the drive system of the robotic system. The drive interface comprises at least three rotatable inputs positioned thereon. Each input is operably engaged with one of the motor-driven drivers. The loading unit comprises a first jaw, a second jaw, a staple cartridge, and a drive member. The first jaw and the second jaw are rotatable about the articulation joint by a longitudinally-displaceable articulation actuator. The housing comprises means for converting the rotation of one of the rotatable inputs to the longitudinal motion of the articulation actuator.

MODULAR BATTERY POWERED HANDHELD SURGICAL INSTRUMENT WITH SELF-DIAGNOSING CONTROL SWITCHES FOR REUSABLE HANDLE ASSEMBLY
Provided is a system and medical device that includes self diagnosing control switches. The control switch may be slidable within a slot in order to control activation of some function of the medical device. Due to natural wear and tear of movement of a control switch, the distances along the sliding slot that correspond to how much energy is used for the function may need to be adjusted over time in order to reflect the changing physical attributes of the actuator mechanism. The self diagnosing control switches of the present disclosures may be configured to automatically adjust for these thresholds using, for example, Hall effect sensors and magnets. In addition, in some cases, the self diagnosing control switches may be capable of indicating external influences on the controls, as well as predict a time until replacement is needed.
ROBOTIC ELECTROSURGICAL DEVICE WITH DISPOSABLE SHAFT
An apparatus includes an interface assembly and a shaft assembly. The interface assembly is for use with a robotic system and includes a first drive assembly. The first drive assembly includes a first slot having a distal recess and a transverse recess. The shaft assembly is removably couplable with the interface assembly and includes an end effector and a first coupling feature. The first drive assembly of the interface assembly actuates the end effector of the shaft assembly. The first coupling feature is couplable with the first slot of the first drive assembly to longitudinally fix the shaft assembly relative to the interface assembly.
SURGICAL TOOL WITH TOOL-BASED TRANSLATION AND LOCK FOR THE SAME
A surgical tool that comprises a surgical end effector comprising opposing jaws, an elongate shaft extending distally to the surgical end effector, and a housing defining a passage therethrough, wherein the elongate shaft extends through the passage. The surgical tool further comprises an actuation mechanism configured to selectively move the housing along the elongate shaft relative to the surgical end effector. The actuation mechanism comprises a pulley, a cable engaged with the pulley, and a lock arrangement configured to releasably lock the housing relative to the elongate shaft. The lock arrangement comprises a washer positioned around the elongate shaft. The cable is engaged with the washer. An actuation of the pulley is configured to apply a tension to the cable to pivot the washer relative to the elongate shaft from a locked orientation to an unlocked orientation.
