Surgical disc removal tool
A tissue removal device including customizable tips and method of use thereof. The tissue removal device may include an outer shaft having a removable tip attached to the outer shaft and a rotatable inner shaft extending through the outer shaft and having a rotatable cutting portion extending from the inner shaft. Disc material may be cut and removed from a surgical area using an auger-like and/or suction mechanism to facilitate the transfer of removed tissue away from the surgical area.
Liposuction cannula with imaging means
Disclosed herein a liposuction cannula that comprises a tube with a front end at which there is provided at least one suction opening, and with a back end intended to be connected to a source of vacuum; in the tube there being defined at least one longitudinal flow conduit for the aspirated material; and an imaging apparatus capable of supplying first signals or data allowing the generation of a visual representation of the environment in close proximity to the front end of the tube of the cannula down to a first depth or distance, and second signals or data allowing the generation of a visual representation of the environment around the front end of the tube of the cannula down to a second depth or distance, greater than the said first depth or distance.
Device with an Open Cell Element
A medical device comprises an elongated member. The medical device comprises a hole forming surface along a portion of the elongated member. The medical device comprises an open cell element in physical communication with the elongated member. The open cell element is configured to house at least a first portion of a biocompatible substance.
NOZZLE ASSEMBLIES FOR LIQUID JET SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS AND SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS FOR EMPLOYING THE NOZZLE ASSEMBLIES
Disclosed are nozzles and nozzle assemblies of liquid jet-forming surgical instruments, surgical instruments employing such nozzles and/or nozzle assemblies, and methods of fabricating the nozzle assemblies in forming surgical instruments. Also, disclosed are liquid jet-forming surgical instruments including both liquid jet-forming nozzles and optional evacuation lumens, which when provided can be configured to receive the liquid jet and evacuate the liquid forming the liquid jet. Certain embodiments of such surgical instruments include inventive nozzle alignment component(s) to facilitate alignment of the nozzles and evacuation lumen upon assembly. In certain embodiments, surgical instruments are provided that include a nozzle that is shaped to form a liquid jet, which has surfaces that are optically smooth. In certain embodiments, the nozzle has a configuration enabling the nozzle to form a liquid jet that has the ability to remain collimated over longer distances than is typically achievable with conventional liquid jet surgical instrument nozzles having the same ratio of nozzle length to minimum inner diameter of the jet opening. In certain embodiments, nozzle assemblies comprising an operative assembly of at least two subcomponents, which together provide a nozzle are provided. In certain embodiments, the at least two sub-components may comprise a nozzle-providing component, such as a nozzle ring, and a holder that is configured to retain and position the nozzle-providing component in the nozzle assembly. In certain embodiments, the nozzle-providing component can comprise a liquid flow passage having a diameter that continuously decreases along at least a portion of its length.
Retractable elevator instrument shaver blade with flush/lavage features
A device having a hub assembly and a lever coupled with the hub assembly is provided. The device includes a sheath coupled with the lever and extending from the hub assembly. The sheath has a surgical elevator with a surgical elevator edge along with a hypotube having an access hole. The device has a shaver blade assembly with an outer shaft having an outer blade and an inner blade within the outer blade. The outer shaft has a stop and an access hole near the outer and inner blades. The sheath partially surrounds the outer shaft and the lever moves between a first position and a second position. In the first position, the surgical elevator edge abuts the outer shaft stop and the outer shaft access hole aligns with the hypotube access hole. In the second position, the surgical elevator edge is spaced apart from the outer shaft stop.
CURETTE WITH NAVIGATION SENSOR
An apparatus includes a shaft assembly, an end effector, and a sensor. The shaft assembly defines a longitudinal axis. The end effector is positioned at a distal end of the shaft assembly. A portion of the end effector is offset from the longitudinal axis. The sensor is configured to generate a signal in response to a magnetic field. The signal is configured to indicate a position of the end effector within three-dimensional space. The sensor is coaxially positioned about the longitudinal axis.
Synchronous drive system and method of using same
A method for synchronously driving more than two or more rotational tissue screws and a method for simultaneously affixing a medical device to tissue employing the synchronous drive system. The method employs a synchronous drive system is particularly configured to affix an apical cuff to cardiac muscle tissue by simultaneously driving a plurality of rotational tissue screws through the apical cuff and into cardiac muscle tissue thereby affixing the apical cuff to the cardiac muscle tissue.
Tools for spinal surgery
Tools adapted for spinal surgery are provided. More specifically, tools having an elongate cylindrical cannula connected to a plurality of sharp-edged blades are provided for imparting a force for displacing vertebral bodies. Apparatuses and methods for accurate, rapid, and reliable placement of surgical cages or other medical implants in a patients spine are also provided.
Methods for crossing and treating an occlusion
A device and method for treating a patient with total or near total occlusion is provided. The device can be positioned in a blood vessel at a treatment site. An occlusion at the treatment site is enlarged by a catheter. The catheter can be advanced over a guidewire into the occlusion. One or more of [a] compression or torsion applied to the guidewire or [b] compression or torsion applied to the catheter body expands or creates a path through the occlusion. The expansions or creation of the access path can be by cutting or abrading the occlusion or by a shoe-horn effect.
Methods For Creating A Void Within A Bone
Methods for creating a void within a bone. An elongate member is directed into a tube of an access cannula, and a handle is positioned adjacent the access cannula. A working tip and pre-bent elbow are disposed within the tube such that the pre-bent elbow is straightened. The device remains slidable relative to the access cannula. A control assembly is actuated to distally move the shaft relative to the handle. Bone adjacent the tube of the access cannula may resist the working tip from protruding from the access cannula so as to displace the handle of the device proximally, or the handle may be manually maintained adjacent the access cannula. The pre-bent elbow and the working tip are moved beyond the distal end of the tube to be freed from the constraint of the tube of the access cannula to assume a curve within the bone.
