INTRAVASCULAR CATHETER HAVING AN EXPANDABLE INCISING PORTION AND ABRASIVE SURFACES
An intravascular device is provided having a catheter tube and an expandable portion including a plurality of struts capable of being moved between an open and a closed position. An incising element and an abrasive surface are provided on at least one of the struts. The incising element has a sharpened edge for creating an incision in, and the abrasive surface is configured to abrade, atherosclerotic material located within a blood vessel when the expandable portion is in the opened position.
Atherectomy devices and methods
The devices and methods generally relate to treatment of occluded body lumens. In particular, the present devices and methods relate to controlled removal of the occluding material from the blood vessels as well as other body lumens. The atherectomy devices have features to convey the materials away from the operative site without the need to remove the devices from the body lumen. Additional aspects include controlled rates of tissue removal as well as other safety features to prevent accidental cutting of the lumen wall.
CATHETER DEVICE FOR EXTRACTING AN OCCLUSION FROM A BLOOD VESSEL
A catheter device for extracting an occlusion from a blood vessel includes a shaft having a proximal end and a distal end; and an expandable structure (3) having a proximal portion and a distal portion and coupled to or adjacent the distal end of the shaft; the expandable structure being configured to expand radially around the shaft; characterised in that the proximal portion of the expandable structure comprises one or more fragmentors (4, 5).
PERICARDIAL TRANSECTION DEVICES AND METHODS
Disclosed is a medical device comprising an incision assembly coupled to a catheter and an incision opening defined along the incision assembly. A retractable cutting apparatus is disposed within the incision opening and comprises a first incision member comprising at least one first cutting surface and defining a first member proximal end rotatably fixed proximate to a distal end of the incision opening and the at least one cutting surface is located on a bottom edge of the first incision member. A second incision member comprises at least one second cutting surface and defines a second member distal end attached to the first incision member at a connection point between a first member distal end and the first member proximal end of the first incision member, and wherein the at least one second cutting surface is located on a bottom edge of the second incision member.
AXIAL LENGTHENING THROMBUS CAPTURE SYSTEM
Systems and methods can remove material of interest, including blood clots, from a body region, including but not limited to the circulatory system for the treatment of pulmonary embolism (PE), deep vein thrombosis (DVT), cerebrovascular embolism, and other vascular occlusions.
METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR TREATING EMBOLISM
A method and apparatus for treating a clot in the blood vessel of a patient, and particularly the treatment of a pulmonary embolism is disclosed. The treatment includes restoring flow through the clot followed by clot removal, either partially or substantially completely. The clot treatment device is expandable into the blood vessel and may contain radial extensions that assist in restoring flow as well as in removing clot material.
Atherectomy catheter with aligned imager
An atherectomy catheter is provided for excising and imaging material in a body lumen. In one embodiment, the catheter comprises a catheter body, a cutting blade, and an imaging device. The cutting blade is mounted on the catheter body and configured to move between a first position and a second position relative to an aperture or cutting window. When the cutting blade is in the second position, the blade substantially closes the aperture on the catheter body. The imaging device which is mounted on or otherwise coupled to the cutting blade is configured to be in an imaging position when the cutting blade substantially closes the aperture or cutter window. This allows the imaging device to survey material within the cutting zone of the atherectomy catheter. By allowing the imaging device to view materials within this cutting zone, material may be imaged and then removed from the body lumen without having to reposition the catheter between each step.
Intravascular catheter having an expandable incising portion
An intravascular catheter device is provided for use during a surgical procedure. The catheter device includes a catheter tube having an expandable portion with a plurality of struts each defining an outer surface. The expandable portion is operable between a closed position, wherein the expandable portion has a first diameter, and an opened position, wherein the expandable portion has a second diameter that is larger than the first diameter. An incising element is provided on the outer surface of at least one of the struts. The incising element has a sharpened edge that extends outwardly in a radial direction from the outer surface of the strut for creating an incision in atherosclerotic material located within a blood vessel when the expandable portion is in the opened position.
METHODS AND DEVICES FOR TISSUE BIOPSY
Medical devices and methods are disclosed in the present application. In one illustrative example a tissue removal device may comprise an elongate shaft defining a lumen and having a proximal end and a distal end, wherein a proximal portion of the elongate shaft has a first diameter and a distal portion of the elongate shaft has a second diameter, and wherein the first diameter is less than the second diameter and an elongate member disposed at least partially within the elongate shaft, the elongate member having a proximal end and a distal end, the distal end of the elongate member comprising a cap. In some further embodiments, the elongate member may be axially translatable between a proximal position and a distal position, and the cap may form a closed receptacle with the distal portion of the elongate shaft when the elongate member is in the proximal position.
INTRAVASCULAR CATHETER HAVING AN EXPANDABLE INCISING PORTION AND MEDICATION DELIVERY SYSTEM
An intravascular device is provided having a catheter tube and an expandable portion including a plurality of struts capable of being moved between an open and a closed position. An incising element is provided on at least one of the struts and has a sharpened edge for creating an incision in atherosclerotic material located within a blood vessel when the expandable portion is in the opened position. A medication delivery device may be located on one or more of the struts and may be configured to deliver a substance to an area of interest.
