MAGNETIC LOCKING UTILITY KNIFE
A utility tool device including a handle with a tool recess and a lever arm recess; a rotatable lever arm with a magnet that is configured to fit in the lever arm recess; and a rotatable lever hinge attached to the lever arm and configured to attach to a tool; wherein the tool recess is configured to have a tool fit in the tool recess; and wherein the magnet is configured to lock a tool in place when the lever arm is in the lever arm recess.
Safety scalpel
A safety scalpel is made of a blade shield, blade, blade holder and handle. The blade holder is located in the front portion of the handle and the blade holder and handle are of integral connection structure or separate plug type connection structure. The blade is fixed in the front portion of the blade holder and the blade shield is slidably mounted on the blade holder, wherein: the blade holder is provided with a first sliding channel and the first sliding channel is provided with a first front locking channel at its front end. A deadlock channel is set in front of the first front locking channel. The blade shield may be moved further forward after use to make the first protrusion of blade shield fall in deadlock channel to enter the deadlocking state. The construction thoroughly eliminates the safety problem of reusing scalpel.
PROSTHETIC SUTURING DEVICE AND METHODS THEREOF
A cassette is disclosed for use in a prosthetic suturing device. The cassette has a base. The base has a pair of pivots, a pair of alignment tabs, and at least one retention latch. The cassette also has a cover coupled to the base. The cover has at least one retention latch. The cover also defines one or more ferrule holders. The cassette further has one or more needles guided by the base and the cover. A surgical suturing device is also disclosed for use with a cassette. The suturing device has a cassette receiver and one or more needle drivers, each needle driver having a needle receiver positioned within the cassette receiver.
ELECTRO-MECHANICAL SURGICAL DEVICE
An electromechanical surgical device includes a motor system configured to drive drive-shafts and a steering cable arrangement. A control system may be provided for controlling the motor system. A remote control unit may also be provided for controlling the motor system via the control system. Optical or Hall-effect devices, may be provided for determining the position of the elements of the surgical instrument based on the detected rotation of the drive-shafts. A memory unit stores a plurality of operating programs or algorithms, each corresponding to a type of surgical instrument attachable to the electro-mechanical surgical device. The control system reads or selects from the plurality of operating programs or algorithms, the operating program or algorithm corresponding to the type of surgical instrument attached to the electromechanical surgical device.
Scalpel handle having a blade shield utilizing over center spring
A scalpel handle for holding a blade includes a handle member and a finger-operable actuator having a blade shield portion. The actuator is mounted upon the handle member for movement relative thereto between a first condition at which the blade shield portion covers the edge of the blade and a second condition at which the blade shield portion is disposed in out-of-the-way position so that by moving the actuator between the first and second conditions, the blade shield portion is moved between its blade-covering and its out-of-the-way positions. An over center spring is interposed between the actuator and the handle member so that upon movement of the actuator into its second condition, the blade shield portion is biased into the out-of-the-way position and so that upon movement of the actuator into its first condition, the blade shield portion is biased into the blade-covering position.
Subcutaneous cutting device
The present disclosure describes a subcutaneous cutting device for insertion into tissues and cutting of targeted tissues. The cutting device includes a handle, a cannula extending distally from the handle to a sharpened distal tip, and an adjustable blade disposed within a blade-holding section of the cannula. The blade is selectively adjustable between a retracted position within the cannula and an open position with the blade tip lifted up and angled away from the cannula. When the blade is in the open position, the blade tip points proximally toward the handle.
COMPOSITE ACTUATION HANDLES FOR A SURGICAL INSTRUMENT
Systems and methods for forming a handle apparatus may include shaping a strip of composite material with a flexible central portion, two grips, and two end portions. The strip may be bent onto itself such that the end portions are fastened together by a fastening device. The handle apparatus may also include a hole disposed in the flexible central portion through which a tool actuator may be passed.
KNIFE AND RETRACTOR SYSTEM
A gastrocnemius knife and retractor system and kit includes a surgical knife and a soft tissue retractor. The soft tissue retractor is configurable to move from a collapsed mode to an expanded mode and back again, and can be inserted through a small incision when in the collapsed mode. Once inside the incision, the soft tissue retractor is expanded to permit visualization and accessibility of the surgery site. The surgical knife is then introduced and guided along a path in the frame of the soft tissue retractor, thereby incising the desired tissue. Once the tissue is incised, the surgical knife is withdrawn, followed by the soft tissue retractor after it is collapsed.
SURGICAL TOOL AND METHOD OF USE FOR CARPEL TUNNEL RELEASE PROCEDURE
A carpal tunnel release surgical tool has an elongate main body supporting a blade at one end thereof for insertion through a wrist incision. The blade moves between a working position protruding from the main body for cutting the transverse carpal ligament, and a stored position in which the blade is retracted to shield the cutting edge. A light source on the body in proximity to the second end thereof emits light for illuminating the ligament to be cut while the tool is inserted in the body of the patient. An actuator member is supported on the body in operative connection to the blade for actuation by an operator to displace the blade between the working position and the stored position of the blade while the bladed end of the body remains inserted to allow removal of the tool after cutting the ligament.
Wire-guided surgical instrument
Disclosed herein is a surgical instrument having a cylindrical tube affixed thereto. The axis of the cylindrical tube is aligned with a central axis of the surgical instrument so it can be advanced along a guidewire.
