SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PREVENTING WRONG-SITE SURGERIES
A system and related methods of preventing wrong-site surgeries and blade-related injuries to OR personnel, that includes a computer software system in combination with an electronic device. The system is configured to (a) receive surgical planning data that is related to a surgical procedure associated with a patient, including one or more audio files, (b) play the recorded audio files at a later time, and (c) provide, on a display screen, an interactive presentation that indicates (i) instructions to conduct an electronically-recorded “time-out” to confirm various details before starting the intended surgical procedure, and (ii) upon receiving indication of a successfully completed “time-out”, displaying a notification that the verification has been recorded in the electronic profile. Data can be captured throughout the medical environment (from “decision-to-incision” and beyond) to assess wrong-site surgery data (including “near miss” data) and enable a host of analytics on wrong-site surgery prevention.
Systems and methods for enhancing preparation and completion of surgical and medical procedures
Systems and methods for preparing and completing surgical and medical procedures. In particular, kits are provided for improving preparation and completion time for a medical or surgical procedure in which the kit includes modularized compartments containing sterilized medical or surgical equipment and wherein the medical or surgical equipment is organized and/or ordered within the kit to generally correspond to the sequence of steps of the medical or surgical procedure. The kit is particularly applicable to recanalization procedures for stroke patients as well as revascularization procedures for acute myocardial infarction patients where a kit enables faster preparation and completion of these procedures.
Packaging systems and methods for mounting a tool on a surgical device
A packaging system for an elongate tool to be coupled to a surgical device. A segmented packaging body comprises a first distal section, a second distal section, and a proximal section. The first and second distal sections provide a clamshell casing to the distal end of the tool, and the proximal section is pivotally coupled to the first distal section and configured to receive the proximal end of the tool. The packaging body may comprise a living hinge and perforations to facilitate mounting the tool on the surgical device without the user touching the tool, thereby minimizing risk of contamination and/or injury. The proximal section may be detached from the clamshell casing at the perforations after the tool is mounted on the surgical device. Secondary packaging may be provided to receive the packaging body. Methods for mounting the tool disposed within the packaging system are also disclosed.

Safety-blade dispenser and related methods
Safety-blade dispensers for safely storing surgical blades prior to surgery and optionally for retrieving used surgical blades after surgery. In either case, the safety-blade dispenser is configured to store one or more surgical blades in an orientation that allows a user to simply and safely attach a surgical tool handle to the surgical blades (and optionally remove the handle from the surgical blades) without requiring the user to physically touch or manipulate the surgical blades by hand. The safety-blade dispensers disclosed herein may be used alone or in conjunction with a system and method of preventing wrong-site surgery.

Dermaplaning device and related system
A dermaplaning device and related system are disclosed. The dermaplaning device may include a longitudinally-extending handle having a first end defining a longitudinally-extending recess and an opposing second end. The dermaplaning device may further include a blade assembly having a top side engageable with the recess of the handle and an opposing bottom side including a blade with a cutting edge. The dermaplaning device may further include a lighting arrangement provided about the first end of the handle to illuminate at least a portion of the blade assembly engaged with the recess.
Blade cartridge for a surgical instrument
A knife cartridge for use in a surgical instrument. The knife cartridge includes a blade that can be operated by a second operating element. The blade is held in a blade housing that can be transferred from a first locking position (passive position) into a second locking position (active position) by a first operating element. In the passive position the blade housing is completely located inside the cartridge housing and the blade is locked therein. In the active position the blade housing projects out of the cartridge housing. Only in the active position a locking between the blade housing and blade can be released, whereby also only then a driving connection is established between the second operating element and the blade.
Coupler for blades and handles
A device is provided for coupling and decoupling a blade and a handle, wherein the device includes a housing that defines an interior chamber and an exterior slot adjacent the interior chamber. The exterior slot is dimensioned to pass the blade and is configured to receive a portion of the handle. The housing defines a groove in the interior chamber configured to retain the blade in a ready configuration for coupling the blade to the handle. The device includes a pivot member secured within the interior chamber of the housing. The pivot member is pivotable between an unlocked configuration and a locked configuration. The unlocked configuration of the pivot member is configured to allow the blade in the ready configuration to be coupled to the handle. The locked configuration of the pivot member is configured to lock the blade within the interior chamber.
