BONE ANCHOR AND BONE ANCHORING ASSEMBLY COMPRISING THE SAME

A bone anchor includes: a main body defining a longitudinal axis and including a head; at least one insertion hole which extends from a first opening formed in the head to a second opening formed in the main body, the at least one insertion hole having an axis which is arranged to be inclined with respect to the longitudinal axis of the main body at an angle, and the insertion hole being configured to receive and guide therethrough a pin-shaped element to be anchored within a bone or bone fragment; and a locking device configured to lock the position of the pin-shaped element inserted within the at least one insertion hole in an axial direction.

Moldable cushion for implants
10070892 · 2018-09-11 ·

Custom moldable cushions for covering medical implants fastened to a bone are provided. Such cushions inhibit irritation of the surrounding soft tissue by covering the bone-implant interface and by reducing friction caused by movement of soft tissue adjacent the implant. Such cushions may also be employed to spread and absorb forces reducing patient discomfort and risk of injury and infection associated with such implants.

Anti-microbial implant

Non-load-bearing, drug-eluting components that can be added to load bearing spinal implants.

Tissue fixation system and method

A tissue fixation system is provided for dynamic and rigid fixation of tissue. A fastener connected with an elongate fastening member, such as a cable, wire, suture, rod, or tube, is moved through a passage between opposite sides of tissue. The fastener is provided with a groove that accommodates at least a portion of the fastening member to reduce the profile during the movement through the passage. The fastener is then pivoted to change its orientation. A second fastener can then be connected with the fastening member. While tension is maintained in the fastening member, the fasteners are secured against relative movement. This may be done by deforming the fastening member, either the first or second fasteners, or a bushing placed against the second fastener.

BONE MARROW ACCESS APPARATUS
20180092632 · 2018-04-05 · ·

A bone marrow access apparatus includes a bone penetrating member having an internal channel having an opening at a proximal end and an opening at a distal end, and a valve cap engaged with the bone penetrating member. The valve cap defines an interior cavity in which part of the bone penetrating member is situated to thereby secure the valve cap to the bone penetrating member. The valve cap includes a valve having an opening having an open state in which the channel is not obstructed and a closed state preventing flow of material through the channel. By being repeatedly switchable between the open and closed states, the valve controls access to the channel by bone marrow sampling and biopsy instruments.

A bone marrow access system includes a bone marrow access apparatus, a delivery tool that installs the apparatus in connection with a bone, instruments used while the apparatus is installed, and a removal tool to remove the apparatus. The apparatus includes a bone penetrating member having an internal channel having openings at proximal and distal ends, and a valve cap engaged with the bone penetrating member. The valve cap includes a valve having an opening having an open state in which the channel is not obstructed and a closed state preventing flow of material through the channel. The delivery tool includes a flange at one end and a drill bit extending beyond the flange. The flange fits in a seat in the bone penetrating member such that when the delivery tool is rotated while the flange is in the seat, the bone penetrating member is rotated into the bone.
