FENESTRATED PEDICLE NAIL
Embodiments are directed to spinal treatments and, more particularly, to a fenestrated pedicle nail, wherein the pedicle nail performs as an anchored system for pedicle instrument constructs that prevents fracturing from over-compressing of bone of poor quality. Embodiments include a pedicle nail comprising a shank and a nail head. The shank may comprise a proximal end and a distal bone engagement end. The nail head may be disposable on the proximal end of the shank, wherein the nail head may threadably engage the proximal end thereof. The nail head may have external bone threads.
SURGICAL FIXATION DEVICES AND METHODS OF USE THEREOF
A suspension fixation device includes a first fastener assembled to an adjustable loop of suture. The second fastener has a slot configured to allow the second fastener to be assembled to the suture loop once the suture loop has been passed through a drill hole. The second fastener further comprises a suture bridge formed through a post of the fastener for housing the suture loop while the slot is configured to prohibit the suture loop from migrating back out of the suture bridge.
Orthopedic implant in the form of a plate to be fixed between two bone parts
The invention relates to a plate fixed between two bone parts by way of screws engaged in holes formed in the thickness of said plate. The plate comprises an angled member or rib which is inclined according to an angle of between about 30° and 60° in relation to the plane defined by the plate. The angled member or rib has a hole for engaging a screw and is located in the central part of the width, over a determined part of the length of the plate, so that the screw brings the two bone parts into a compressive position.
Tensioner for a sternal closure strap device
A handheld closing device for closing a bone closure device. The handheld closing device includes a main body portion with an end and a receiving member located at the end of the main body portion. The receiving member is configured for receiving the securing member of the bone closure device. The handheld closing device further includes a tightening member rotatably connected to the main body portion. The tightening member includes a receiving hole configured for receiving the strap of the bone closure device. The tightening member is configured for tightening the strap. The handheld closing device further includes a lever pivotally connected to the main body portion. The lever is configured for operably engaging with the securing member to position the securing member in its locked position.
Surgical guide system
A surgical guide system for guiding a surgical tool, comprising a body which comprises a first contact surface profiled to locate with a first anatomical surface of a first bone; and a second contact surface profiled to locate with a second anatomical surface of a second bone; wherein the body is configured, for a specified functional position of the first bone relative to the second bone, to simultaneously: locate the first contact surface with the first anatomical surface; locate the second contact surface with the second anatomical surface; and receive, or guide, a first fastener to fasten to the first bone, wherein at least one of the body and/or the first fastener forms a first reference to guide a first surgical tool to the first bone.

Fixation device and method of using the same
A fixation device includes a tapered cannula defining a bore therethrough, a shaft, and a post. The shaft includes a proximal portion disposed within the bore, and central and distal portions extending distally from the tapered cannula. The proximal portion includes a threaded inner surface defined therein. The shaft includes blades disposed within the central portion, the blades movable between a closed position in which the blades are disposed within the shaft and an open position in which the blades extend laterally through the shaft. The post includes a threaded outer surface threadingly engaged with the threaded inner surface of the shaft. The post is movable longitudinally within the shaft to transition the blades between the closed and open positions.
Drug eluting insert for implantable body
The present application discloses embodiments related to an implant and a method of forming an implant configured to treat a fractured bone. The implant can include a body having a proximal end, a distal end, and an outer surface extending from the proximal end to the distal end, wherein the body defines a central axis extending from the proximal end to the distal end; and a high tensile strand positioned adjacent the body such that at least a portion of the strand extends at least partially along the outer surface of the body in a direction substantially parallel with the central axis, and wherein the strand is loaded with an active agent.

Laser type fixation member securement device and activation system, and related system and methods
A laser device having a proximal end and a distal end spaced from the proximal end, the distal end configured to receive a fixation member to be affixed to a target surgical site. The laser device includes a laser source supported by the laser device body and capable of emitting a laser beam to the distal end, wherein the laser source is responsive to at least one input so as to selectively switch between an inactive configuration whereby the laser source does not emit the laser beam, and an active configuration whereby the laser source emits the laser beam.
