APPARATUSES AND METHODS FOR CORRECTING BONE DEFORMITIES

An apparatus for correcting bunion deformity includes an elongated member, a first arm member extending from a first end to a second end, a second arm member, and a rotation guide. The first arm member has an arm axis and is coupled to the first end of the elongated member so that the arm axis extends in an orthogonal direction from the elongated member. The second arm member includes an attachment portion configured to translatably engage the elongated member and an extension extending in the same orthogonal direction as the first arm member. The rotation guide is coupled to the first arm member such that the rotation guide is configured to rotate with respect to the first arm member about a rotation axis, the rotation guide defining a bore having a longitudinal axis.

DISTRACTION AND COMPRESSION IN ONE PLIER

Surgical tools and methods of their use are provided. A surgical tool includes first and second working members, first and second handle arms, a handle post having first and second ends, the second end confronting the second handle arm, and a ratchet coupled to one of the first and second handle arms and engageable with the other of the first and second handle arms. Movement of the first handle arm with respect to the second handle arm causes movement of the first working member with respect to the second working member. A force applied to the handle post causes the first working member to move in a first direction with respect to the second working member. The ratchet is configured to temporarily prevent the first and second working members from moving with respect to one another.

Patella protector

A patella protector may be positioned in a manner in which it does not obstruct a patella or a prosthesis, while providing protection for the patella from accidental damage during a surgical procedure, such as a knee replacement. The patella protector may be a clamp with two contact surfaces connected by a stainless steel connecting element providing an inward bias to hold the contact surfaces against the patella.

Tracking Marker Support Structure and Surface Registration Methods Employing the Same For Performing Navigated Surgical Procedures

Devices and methods are provide for facilitating registration and calibration of surface imaging systems. Tracking marker support structures are described that include one or more fiducial reference markers, where the tracking marker support structures are configured to be removably and securely attached to a skeletal region of a patient. Methods are provided in which a tracking marker support structure is attached to a skeletal region in a pre-selected orientation, thereby establishing an intraoperative reference direction associated with the intraoperative position of the patient, which is employed for guiding the initial registration between intraoperatively acquired surface data and volumetric image data. In other example embodiments, the tracking marker support structure may be employed for assessing the validity of a calibration transformation between a tracking system and a surface imaging system. Example methods are also provided to detect whether or not a tracking marker support structure has moved from its initial position during a procedure.

Apparatus for osteotomy and graft preparation
09775629 · 2017-10-03 · ·

Surgical tools that increase surgical accuracy for orthopedic procedures involving long bone osteotomy with or without supplementation with allograft or autograft. Two clamps on the operative side are rigidly interconnected to one another with an adjustable rod that is locked into place, preserving length and rotation of the bone. A graft preparation device is used on the operative table. It enables alignment of the graft to preserve the desired mechanical and anatomic axes and to provide rigid fixation of the graft for cutting. Adjustable jigs ensure exact cuts.

Patient Selectable Joint Arthroplasty Devices and Surgical Tools

Disclosed herein are methods, compositions and tools for repairing articular surfaces repair materials and for repairing an articular surface. The articular surface repairs are customizable or highly selectable by patient and geared toward providing optimal fit and function. The surgical tools are designed to be customizable or highly selectable by patient to increase the speed, accuracy and simplicity of performing total or partial arthroplasty.

Femoral Lift Apparatus
20170273846 · 2017-09-28 ·

A femoral lift apparatus for an operating table having a side rail, the apparatus engageable with the femur of a patient. The apparatus includes a lift mountable to the side rail. An extension arm is receivable on the lift, the extension arm extending transversely from the lift when the extension arm is received on the lift. A plurality of apertures can be defined along the extension arm, and a femoral hook can be receivable in one of the apertures in the extension arm, the femoral hook having a hook end shaped to be received under and contour the femur of the patient positioned on the operating table when the lift is mounted to the side rail of the table, the extension arm is received on the lift, and the femoral hook is received in one of the apertures of the extension arm.

SURGICAL CLAMP FOR LAPIDUS BUNION SURGERY
20220039816 · 2022-02-10 ·

Apparatuses, systems, and methods are disclosed for a surgical clamp for Lapidus bunion surgery. A surgical clamp has handles disposed at opposing branches of a surgical clamp. A hinge is disposed at an intersection of the opposing branches about which the opposing branches pivot. A first gripper is disposed at a distal portion of the first opposing branch and is shaped to hook around and grip a neck of a first metatarsal. A second gripper is disposed at a distal portion of the second opposing branch and is shaped to hook around and grip a neck of a different metatarsal. The grippers extend at a non-zero angle away from the opposing branches. A lock extends between the opposing branches and selectively fixes a relative position of the opposing branches so that the grippers selectively hold a position of the first metatarsal relative to the different metatarsal.

COMPRESSION FIXATION SYSTEM
20170238983 · 2017-08-24 ·

The invention is directed in various aspects to a compression fixation system that includes coupling components and locking assemblies for connecting two or more separate elements in a fixed arrangement. For example, the system is useful for connecting and compressing two or more elements selected from bones and bone fragments. The system includes a substantially linear coupling component, such as, for example, a Kirschner Wire (“K-Wire”) and locking assembly elements that engage with the coupling component in a coaxial orientation. The coupling component includes at least a linear portion and an anchor portion, the anchor portion configured to be fixed within or adjacent to a first one of the elements to be connected and the linear portion configured to be fixed adjacent to a second one of the elements to be connected, where the locking assembly is attached coaxially with and locked against the second element to achieve compression and fixation.
