DRIVER FOR ARTHROSCOPIC IMPLANT
A driver for a medical implant having a shaft with a longitudinal throughbore, a slot formed in the distal end of the shaft, and a rod moveable longitudinally within the shaft to selectively interlock the shaft with a medical implant or to release the medical implant once it is positioned in place during a medical operation. A pair of opposing ribs may extend circumferentially about the distal end of the shaft to assist with interlocking to the medical implant. The shaft of the driver expands radially when the rod is moved to the advanced position to interlock to the medical implant, and contracts radially when the rod is moved to the retracted position to release the medical implant. The shaft may include knurling to assist with engagement to the medical implant.
BONE REPAIR SYSTEM, KIT AND METHOD
A bone repair system, kit and method for percutaneous repair of a bone segment containing a first bone segment and a second bone segment in a patient, each bone segment having a drill hole. The system comprises a longitudinal member configured to contact the first bone segment and the second bone segment and having at least one opening and cleats on the side adapted to contact the first bone segment and the second bone segment; a first fastener assembly configured to be disposed through the opening of the longitudinal member to hold the longitudinal member in place through the opening and the hole in the first bone segment; and a second fastener assembly configured to be disposed through the opening of the longitudinal member to hold the longitudinal member in place through the opening and the hole in the second bone segment.
METHOD AND IMPLANT SYSTEM FOR SACROILIAC JOINT FIXATION AND FUSION
An improved method of fusing the sacroiliac joint and tools for accomplishing the same is disclosed. In one embodiment, the present invention is a method that uses an intra-articular joint fusion device for connecting the sacrum and ilium that includes creating a first incision in the patient's skin proximal to the patient's sacroiliac joint, inserting a surgical channel tool into the incision from the patient's posterior, creating a void in the sacroiliac joint, inserting a fusion implant into the void, the fusion implant having at least one fixation element for engagement with bone tissue in the articular surfaces of the sacrum and the ilium, and driving the fusion implant into the void such that the at least one fixation element engages with bone tissue in an articular surface of at least one of the sacrum and ilium, and the fusion implant fixes relative positions of the sacrum and ilium.
Cannulated compression device
The cannulated compression device creates fixation and compression across its tang housing, thus stabilizing and closing a bone fracture during placement. After insertion of the cannulated compression device, tangs are extended outward from the tang housing, locking the tang housing with respect to both rotational and axial movement. A compression nut is then threaded onto the proximal end of the tang housing. The nut has two sets of threads: a first set of threads interfaces with the tang housing, a second set of threads interfaces with the bone. By using different pitches, the amount of linear movement for the first set of threads and second set of threads is different.
Spinal implant system and method for lumbar and lumbosacral fusion
A spinal implant comprises an implant body extending between an anterior surface and a posterior surface, and including a first vertebral engaging surface and a second vertebral engaging surface. The implant body includes an inner surface that defines at least a first cavity and a second cavity. The cavities are oriented to implant fasteners in alignment with an oblique surgical pathway relative to a bilateral axis of a subject body and adjacent an anterior portion of an intervertebral space of the subject body. Systems and methods are disclosed.
Method and apparatus for locking a drill guide in a polyaxial hole
Devices, systems, and methods for locking a drill guide into a polyaxial hole while maintaining the form and function of the polyaxial hole are provided herein. In some embodiments, the drill guide includes a hollow outer body extending from a proximal end to a distal end and having a slot disposed proximate the proximate end, wherein the distal end is configured as a reverse collet having a plurality of prongs; an inner body having a central channel extending therethrough; and a lever coupled to the inner body through the slot, wherein the slot is shaped such that rotation of the lever results in motion along a central axis of the drill guide, and wherein a distal end of the inner body is configured to prevent radially inward deflection of the plurality of prongs when the inner body is in a lowermost position.
ROD REDUCTION DEVICE AND METHOD OF USE
Provided is a novel rod reducing device including a screw jack mechanism that is moveably engaged with an elongated grasping fork assembly, the screw jack mechanism having an elongated threaded portion, the elongated threaded portion being connected at its most distal end to a rod contact member, which is positioned in sliding circumferential contact with each of the two opposing elongated grasping members and the most proximal end of the elongated threaded portion terminating in a controlling member, which can be activated in a measured and controlled manner. A method of using the device is also provided.
Bone drilling cover fixing device
A bone drilling cover fixing device includes an upper fastening member and a lower fastening member. The upper fastening member includes a first base portion and a first coupling portion. The first coupling portion protrudes from an underside of the first base portion and can be inserted into a drilled hole. The lower fastening member includes a second base portion and a second coupling portion. The second base portion includes at least one first arm and at least one second arm. The first arm has a length equal to that of the second arm. The length of the first arm and the length of the second arm are greater than a radius of the drilled hole. When in use, the first and second arms are inserted in an oblique manner into the drilled hole to be positioned at two ends of an underside of the drilled hole.
Systems and methods for intramedullary nail implantation
Intramedullary nails, systems, and methods. The intramedullary nail may include a generally elongate body extending from a first, distal end to a second, proximal end. The distal end may include one or more openings configured to receive one or more bone anchors that extend transversely through the distal end intramedullary nail, and thereby configured to secure the distal end of the nail. The proximal end may also include one or more openings configured to receive one or more bone anchors that extend transversely through the proximal end of the intramedullary nail, and thereby configured to secure the proximal end of the nail. In some embodiments, the proximal end may further include a cross-locking feature, which includes a second bone anchor that interlocks with a first bone anchor, for example, for enhanced bone purchase and bony fixation.
