The end effector includes a first jaw and a second jaw capable to actuate between an open configuration and a closed configuration. The jaw closure assembly includes an elongated jaw closure member, a coupling body attached to the elongated jaw closure member, a yoke housing capable to actuate the coupling body and the elongated jaw closure member to thereby close the second jaw, and an engagement spring capable to bias the coupling body and the elongated jaw closure member into operative engagement with the yoke housing. The adjustment assembly is capable to adjust a spring length of the engagement spring to ensure the coupling body and the elongated jaw closure member remain in operative engagement with the yoke housing.
End effector including wrist assembly and monopolar tool for robotic surgical systems
An end effector is provided for use and connection to a robot arm of a robotic surgical system including a proximal hub, a distal hub, and a support hub. The distal hub is coupled to two opposing upright supports of the proximal hub about a first pivot axis. The support hub is coupled to two opposing upright supports of the distal hub about a second pivot axis. First and second drive members are coupled to opposing sides of the support hub and a third drive member is coupled to the distal hub. Simultaneous proximal translation of the first drive member and the second drive member causes the distal hub to pivot about the first pivot axis and proximal translation of only one of the first drive member or the second drive member causes the support hub to pivot about the second pivot axis.
RF ENERGY ENABLED TISSUE DEBRIDEMENT DEVICE
A bipolar electrosurgical device including an outer shaft, an inner shaft, first and second electrode surfaces, and an irrigation channel. The outer shaft defines a lumen, a proximal end and a distal end forming a cutting window. The inner shaft is rotatably disposed within the outer shaft, and defines a distal portion forming a cutting tip. The cutting tip and the cutting window combine to define a cutting implement. The first and second electrode surfaces are electrically isolated, and are formed at the cutting implement. The irrigation channel extends parallel to the outer shaft, and terminates in at least one outlet port. The outlet port is proximally spaced from the cutting window and is located radially outside of the outer shaft. Fluid (e.g., saline) is emitted at the exterior surface of the device near the cutting window and is readily present for interacting with the electrode surfaces.
ELECTRODE ASSEMBLY FOR RF ENERGY ENABLED TISSUE DEBRIDEMENT DEVICE
A bipolar electrosurgical device is disclosed that operates in a mechanical cutting mode and a hemostasis mode. The device includes a housing and a blade assembly extending from the housing. The blade assembly forms a cutting tip and cutting window at a distal end region to provide mechanical cutting of tissue and first and second electrode assemblies to provide electrical energy to tissue. The first electrode assembly includes an outer shaft defining a first electrode surface and the second electrode assembly includes an electrode body extending along and electrically isolated from an outer shaft and defining a U-shape in cross section.
Systems And Tools For Use With Surgical Robotic Manipulators
A tool for use with a surgical robotic manipulator that comprises an energy applicator including a shaft extending along an axis between a proximal end and a distal end. The shaft has an axial-force receiving surface. A tool assembly comprises a support structure to support the energy applicator, an axial connector assembly arranged to engage and releasably lock the energy applicator to the support structure in a locked state, a drive system coupled to the support structure to rotatably drive the shaft of the energy applicator about the axis, a collet assembly cooperating with the axial connector assembly and configured to apply a force to the axial-force receiving surface of the energy applicator in the locked state, and a reference surface. The force includes an axial component directing the energy applicator proximally into continuous contact with the reference surface in the locked state.
Surgical devices and methods
A medical introducer includes an elongated tubular member having a proximal end, a distal portion, and a central lumen extending from the proximal end to a distal port in the distal portion. A frame structure is coupled to the distal portion of the elongated tubular member, where frame structure supports the distal portion of the elongated tubular member in a tapered shape and alternatively in a non-tapered shape. The elongated tubular member may include a rigid outer tube and a rigid inner tube carried in an interior lumen of the outer tube. The distal portion is typically a reinforced elastomeric tubular extension of the outer tube, and the reinforced elastomeric tubular extension may have a conical shape.
Surgical instruments comprising a lockable end effector socket
A surgical instrument comprising a shaft and an end effector is disclosed. The end effector is releasably attachable to the shaft by a lock biased into a locked condition to hold the end effector to the shaft.
Coiled antenna with fluid cooling
An energy delivery system comprises a transmission member and an antenna at a distal end of the transmission member. The antenna includes a first conductive arm, an insulator extending around the first conductive arm, and a second conductive arm. The second conductive arm includes a coil. The system also comprises a barrier layer radially spaced from the insulator and surrounding the transmission member and antenna. The barrier layer extends from a proximal portion of the transmission member to a distal portion of the antenna. The system also comprises a jacket surrounding the barrier layer and forming a fluid channel for flow of a cooling fluid.

The catheter assembly includes: a catheter shaft, a balloon and a connector at the distal and proximal ends of the catheter shaft, and a delivery tube extending between there between. The connector includes a connector body secured to the proximal end and a plug secured to the delivery tube, the plug and delivery tube movable axially and rotationally. The handle includes an open portion receiving the plug and the connector body. The connector locking assembly includes: means for simultaneously automatically connecting the plug and the connector body to the handle to place the connector in a load state prior to use, and means for automatically releasing the connector body and thereafter the plug from the handle to place the connector in an eject state to permit the connector to be removed from the handle.
ELECTROSURGICAL DEVICE
A surgical instrument is configured to reduce conductivity between an RF electrosurgical portion and a cutting portion. This reduces improves the efficiency and consistency of the generated RF field, with higher current densities nearest the target tissue, improving the performance of the RF electrosurgical instrument. The conductivity may be reduced using a layer of insulating material, a projecting insulating portion or a cutting portion constructed from an insulating material. Further, by providing a lubricous insulating layer shedding may be reduced, increasing the usable life of the cutting portion.
