DYNAMIC LITHOPLASTY DEVICE WITH MOVABLE ENERGY GUIDE
20210137598 · 2021-05-13 ·

A catheter system for treating a treatment site within or adjacent to a blood vessel within a body of a patient, the treatment site having a proximal region and a distal region, includes an energy source, a guide shaft, and an energy guide. The energy source generates energy. The guide shaft is positionable adjacent to the treatment site. The energy guide receives energy from the energy source. The energy guide is movably coupled to the guide shaft. The energy guide includes a guide distal end that is configured to be positioned adjacent to the treatment site. The guide distal end of the energy guide is selectively movable relative to the guide shaft and adjacent to and between the proximal region and the distal region of the treatment site while the energy guide receives energy from the energy source.

MEDICAL ABLATION DEVICE AND METHOD OF USE

A tissue resection device includes an elongate shaft having a ceramic working end with a window and a wire-like electrode. A motor oscillates the electrode back and forth in an arc between opposing sides of the window. The working end is engaged against a tissue surface while radiofrequency current is delivered to the wire-like electrode to cut tissue received within the window. A negative pressure source may be connected to the window through an interior passageway in the elongate shaft to extract cut tissue from the working end.

Energized medical device with reusable handle

An electrosurgical device may include a front portion releasably attached to a reusable handle. The reusable handle may include a single motor configured to actuate a tissue knife mechanism and an articulation mechanism in the front portion. The reusable handle may include a controller configured to sense a position of a knife advancement control in the front portion and actuate the tissue knife via the motor when the knife advancement control is at a predetermined position. The controller may receive data from the front portion indicating that the front portion includes an articulation joint. If the front portion includes an articulation joint, the controller may actuate, via the motor, an articulation mechanism to adjust an angle of the articulation joint when an articulation control in the front portion is at a predetermined position. The reusable handle may be used with a front portion having or lacking an articulation joint.

Manipulator system

A manipulator system includes arithmetic logic units for calculating an operation quantity per unit time of a power source mounted on a surgical instrument as a first operation quantity and calculating an operation quantity per unit time of the power source as a second operation quantity. A determining unit is used for outputting a shutoff signal for de-energizing the power source if the first operation quantity is smaller than a first threshold value and the second operation quantity is larger than a second threshold value. A cutoff unit is configured to cut off the drive signal output from the output unit to the power source in response to the shutoff signal output for de-energizing the power source from the determining unit.

Surgical dissectors and manufacturing techniques

A surgical instrument comprising an end effector is disclosed. The end effector comprises a surgical dissector.

Reactive algorithm for surgical system

A modular surgical instrument is disclosed. The modular surgical instrument comprises a control interface, a shaft extending from the control interface, an end effector extending from said shaft, and a control circuit. The control circuit is configured to sense the electrical potential applied to the modular surgical instrument, determine if the sensed electrical potential is above a predetermined threshold, and adjust the operation of the modular surgical instrument when the sensed electrical potential exceeds the predetermined threshold.

A surgical system for treating targeted tissue in a fluid-filled working space includes a probe having an elongated shaft extending from a proximal end to a working end. A tissue-receiving window formed in the working end opens to a passageway in the elongated shaft, and a motor moves an electrode across the tissue-receiving window to resect tissue. A radiofrequency (RF) current source is coupled to the electrode, and a controller operatively connected to the motor and the RF source. In some instances, the controller actuates movement of the electrode in response to electrode contact with the targeted tissue. In some instances, the controller actuates movement of the electrode in a single stroke to perform biopsy.

AESTHETIC METHOD OF BIOLOGICAL STRUCTURE TREATMENT BY MAGNETIC FIELD

In combined methods for treating a patient using time-varying magnetic field, treatment methods combine various approaches for aesthetic treatment. A magnetic field generating device is placed proximate to a body region of the patient. The magnetic field generating device generates a time-varying magnetic field with a magnetic flux density in a range of 0.5 to 7 Tesla. The time-varying magnetic field is applied to the body region of the patient in order to cause a contraction of a muscle within the body region. A second therapy may be used by applying one or more of optical waves, radio frequency waves, mechanical waves, negative or positive pressure or heat to the body region of the patient.

ELECTROSURGICAL DEVICE AND METHODS

A tissue segmentation device, controller, and methods therefore are disclosed. The device has an active electrode, a return electrode, a mechanical force application mechanism, voltage and current sensors, and a controller. The controller has a processing component, configured to assign a circuit status to a circuit comprising the at least one electrode. IF (PF0) and ((Vrms/Irms)T), THEN the circuit status is open. IF (PF0) and ((Vrms/Irms)<T), THEN the circuit status is short. PF is a power factor of power applied to the electrosurgical device. T is a threshold value.
