The adapter includes a body having a first end portion and a second end portion, inputs disposed at the first end portion of the body, outputs disposed at the second end portion of the body, connectors coupling each of the inputs with a corresponding one of the outputs, and a seal disposed within the body and configured to establish a fluid-tight seal with an interior surface of the body and about the connectors. The surgical drape defines a sleeve of material having a proximal end portion and a distal end portion. The proximal end portion is attached to an exterior of the body of the adapter. The clip is configured to engage the distal end portion of the surgical drape to a shaft.
TISSUE RESECTION CONTROL SYSTEMS AND METHODS
A method for removing tissues may comprise disposing a tissue resection device at a target tissue site, causing the tissue resection device to resect a core of tissue from the target tissue site, removing the core of tissue from the body, wherein the removing the core of tissue from the body creates a core cavity at the target tissue site.
SEAL FOR SURGICAL INSTRUMENT
An apparatus includes a body, a shaft assembly, an end effector, a coupling member, and a seal feature. The shaft assembly extends distally from the body and includes a distal end. The coupling member is disposed at the distal end of the shaft assembly to movably couple the end effector to the shaft assembly. The seal feature is engaged with the coupling member and includes a seal body and a plurality of protrusions. The plurality or protrusions extend from the seal body. Each protrusion of the plurality of protrusions is configured to slidably receive a respective elongate member associated with the end effector therethrough.
Electrical isolation of electrosurgical instruments
A surgical tool that includes a drive housing, an elongate shaft that extends from the drive housing, and an end effector arranged at a distal end of the elongate shaft and having a jaw and a jaw holder that secures the jaw. A wrist couples the end effector to the elongate shaft and includes a distal clevis having an axle that rotatably mounts the jaw holder to the distal clevis. An electrical conductor extends from the drive housing and supplies electrical energy to the jaw via a supply conductor. At least one of the jaw holder and the axle is made of a non-conductive material that insulates the distal clevis from the electrical energy provided to the jaw.
SURGICAL TOOLS FOR SPINAL FACET THERAPY TO ALLEVIATE PAIN AND RELATED METHODS
Methods and surgical tools for treating back pain use a spinal facet debridement tool with cautery and denuding action and minimally invasive protocol that can denude and cauterize soft tissue associated with a synovial capsule of the spinal facet joint.
Flexible neutral electrode
An energy module is disclosed. The energy module includes a control circuit and a two wire interface coupled to the control circuit. The two wire interface is configured as a power source and as a communication interface between the energy module and a neutral electrode.
COILED ANTENNA WITH FLUID COOLING
An energy delivery system comprises a transmission member and an antenna at a distal end of the transmission member. The antenna includes a first conductive arm, an insulator extending around the first conductive arm, and a second conductive arm. The second conductive arm includes a coil. The system also comprises a barrier layer surrounding the transmission member and antenna. The barrier layer extends from a proximal portion of the transmission member to a distal portion of the antenna. The system also comprises a jacket surrounding the barrier layer and forming a fluid channel for receipt of a cooling fluid.
Methods and systems for advanced harmonic energy
Aspects of the present disclosure are presented for a medical instrument configured to adjust the power level for sealing procedures to account for changes in tissue impedance levels over time. In some aspects, a medical instrument may be configured to apply power according to a power algorithm to seal tissue by applying a gradually lower amount of power over to time as the tissue impedance level begins to rise out of the “bathtub region,” which is the time period during energy application where the tissue impedance is low enough for electrosurgical energy to be effective for sealing tissue. In some aspects, the power is then cut once the tissue impedance level exceeds the “bathtub region.” By gradually reducing the power, a balance is achieved between still applying an effective level of power for sealing and prolonging the time in which the tissue impedance remains in the “bathtub region.”
COMBINATION ELECTROSURGICAL AND MECHANICAL RESECTION DEVICE
A combination medical device for removing and treating tissue in a patient is disclosed. The device includes a reusable handle and a blade selectively connectable to the handle. The blade includes an outer sleeve having a lumen with an inner shaft disposed therein. The inner shaft may be coupled to a motor drive unit disposed within the handle and may rotate so as to mechanically cut tissue as the inner shaft rotates. The outer sleeve includes at least one electrode for electrosurgically treating tissue. The reusable handle includes at least one control switch for controlling a parameter associated with the rotation of the inner shaft. The blade also may include a switch assembly in electrical communication with the at least one electrode, the switch assembly including attachment means for selective attachment of the switch assembly to the reusable handle.
