Balloon Catheter with Irrigated Tip Electrode

An apparatus includes a shaft, configured for insertion into a body of a subject, an inflatable balloon disposed over the shaft, a plurality of leaf electrodes coupled to the balloon and shaped to define one or more leaf-electrode apertures, a tip electrode disposed at a distal end of the balloon, coupled to a distal end of the shaft, and shaped to define one or more tip-electrode apertures, a first fluid-delivery tube passing through the shaft and configured to deliver a fluid into the balloon via at least one shaft aperture in the shaft, such that the fluid passes through the leaf-electrode apertures, and a second fluid-delivery tube passing through the shaft and configured to deliver the fluid to the tip electrode, such that the fluid passes through the tip-electrode apertures. Other embodiments are also described.

Electroporation for obesity or diabetes treatment

Endolumenal devices and methods can be used for the treatment of health conditions including obesity and diabetes. In some embodiments, the methods and systems provided herein can cause weight loss or control diabetes by reducing the caloric absorption of an individual. For example, this document provides several devices and methods for treating obesity and diabetes by using electroporation to modulate the duodenal mucosa. In addition, this document provides devices and methods for bypassing portions of the gastrointestinal tract to reduce nutritional uptake.

An ablation catheter including an elongate shaft, an inflatable balloon positioned at a distal region of the elongate shaft, a first ablation electrode disposed outside of and carried by an outer surface of the inflatable balloon, a first ultrasound transducer disposed outside of the inflatable balloon, and a flexible circuit. The flexible circuit includes a first conductor and a second conductor and is disposed outside of and carried by the outer surface of the inflatable balloon. The first conductor is in electrical communication with the first ablation electrode, and the second conductor in electrical communication with the first ultrasound transducer.

Medical probe with wiring disposed between two expandable membranes

Shown and described is electrophysiology catheter end effector having a balloon with three expandable membranes attached to each other such that wiring (for the electrodes or other sensors on the membrane surfaces) no longer extend from inside the first membrane yet at the same time is captured between the first membrane and a second membrane.

CAVITARY TISSUE ABLATION

The invention relates to a tissue ablation system including an ablation device having a deployable applicator, preferably, with a non-spherical head configured to be delivered to a tissue cavity and ablate marginal tissue surrounding the tissue cavity. The deployable applicator head is configured to be delivered to a tissue cavity while in a collapsed configuration and ablate marginal tissue surrounding the tissue cavity while in an expanded configuration.

TREATMENT OF THE REPRODUCTIVE TRACT WITH PULSED ELECTRIC FIELDS

Devices, systems and methods are provided for treating conditions of the reproductive tract. A number of conditions can afflict the lining and cell layers deeper within the anatomical structures. For example, cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN), also known as cervical dysplasia, is a condition involving abnormal growth of cells on the surface of the cervix that could potentially lead to cervical cancer in situ (CIS). Other conditions include human papillomavirus (HPV)-related cervical disease, various endometrial diseases, acute and chronic cervicitis, and various infections (e.g. trichomoniasis) to name a few. In some embodiments, treatments eliminate diseased, damaged, abnormal or otherwise undesired cells leaving the tissue framework intact. This allows the tissue to regenerate in a normal fashion, avoiding the formation of scar tissue. When the tissue framework is left intact, the framework structure repopulates with healthy cells, regenerating the normal tissue without altering the structural properties.

Ablation systems and methods of the present disclosure control lesion depth and width such that, for example, wide and shallow lesions can be formed in target tissue in an anatomic structure of a patient during a medical procedure. Such wide and shallow lesions can be useful for treating, for example, thin tissue such as atrial tissue in atria of the heart of the patient.

Devices for therapeutic nasal neuromodulation and associated methods and systems

Devices for therapeutic nasal neuromodulation and associated systems and methods are disclosed herein. A system for therapeutic neuromodulation in a nasal region configured in accordance with embodiments of the present technology can include, for example, a shaft and a therapeutic element at a distal portion of the shaft. The shaft can locate the distal portion intraluminally at a target site inferior to a patient's sphenopalatine foramen. The therapeutic element can include an energy delivery element configured to therapeutically modulate postganglionic parasympathetic nerves at microforamina of a palatine bone of the human patient for the treatment of rhinitis or other indications. In other embodiments, the therapeutic element can be configured to therapeutically modulate nerves that innervate the frontal, ethmoidal, sphenoidal, and maxillary sinuses for the treatment of chronic sinusitis.

Methods and apparatus are provided for applying an fragment of a neurotoxin such as the active light chain (LC) of the botulinum toxin (BoNT), such as one of the serotype A, B, C, D, E, F or G botulinum toxins, via permeabilization of targeted cell membranes to enable translocation of the botulinum neurotoxin light chain (BoNT-LC) molecule across the targeted cell membrane to the cell cytosol where a therapeutic response is produced in a mammalian system. The methods and apparatus include use of catheter based delivery systems, non-invasive delivery systems, and transdermal delivery systems.
