SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ESTIMATING TISSUE PARAMETERS USING SURGICAL DEVICES
A computer implemented method for estimating tissue parameters, includes collecting data, from a surgical system including an instrument and an energy source, the data including at least one electrical parameter associated with delivering energy from the instrument to tissue, communicating the data to at least one machine learning algorithm, determining, using the at least one machine learning algorithm, a tissue parameter based upon the data, communicating the determined tissue parameter to a computing device associated with the energy source for use in formulating an energy-delivery algorithm for delivering energy from the instrument to tissue, and delivering energy from the instrument of the surgical system to tissue in accordance with the energy-delivery algorithm.
Female insertion system
A female insertion system is provided. The system includes a conformable insert shaped for insertion into one or more structures of a female human that are associated with at least one of reproduction and one or more erogenous zones; one or more sensors, at least one of the sensors included in the insert, and configured to measure and to relay data, wherein the data is acquired on one of a one-time basis and a multiple-time basis included one of a non-continuous period, a continuous period, and an intermittent temporal period; and a processor configured to: control the insert; generate a treatment for one of the structures of the female human; store the data; and based on the data, automatically affect one or more of the structures via the insert.
Deployment mechanism for surgical instruments
A surgical instrument includes an end effector assembly and a deployment mechanism for deploying a proximal hub associated with an energizable member between proximal and distal positions. The deployment mechanism includes a rotatable shaft, a cord including a proximal end engaged to the rotatable shaft and a distal end engaged to the proximal hub, a biasing member positioned to bias the proximal hub towards the distal position, and a gear assembly operably coupled to the rotatable shaft. The gear assembly is configured to move the proximal hub from the distal position to the proximal position against the bias of the biasing member by rotating the rotatable shaft relative to the cord to at least partially wind-up the cord about the rotatable shaft.
Endoscopic vessel harvesting with thermal management and augmented reality display
A vessel harvesting system removes a target vessel from a patient for use as a bypass. An elongated harvesting instrument inserts into a body along a path of a target vessel which includes at least one side branch. The harvesting instrument includes a cutter for applying thermal energy to sever and cauterize the side branch. An endoscopic camera captures visible-light images from a distal tip of the instrument within a dissected tunnel around the target vessel. A thermal camera captures thermograms coinciding with the visible-light images to characterize a temperature present at respective surfaces in the tunnel. An image processor (e.g., an electronic controller) renders a video stream including the visible-light images and an overlay depicting the temperatures present on at least some of the respective surfaces when applying the thermal energy. A display presenting the video stream and overlay to a user can be an augmented-reality display.
A CATHETER FOR FORMING A FISTULA
A catheter for forming a fistula between two vessels. The catheter comprises a catheter body having a longitudinal axis, an electrode extending radially from the catheter body for contacting a vessel wall and forming the fistula, and a cutting unit disposed proximally or distally of the electrode for cutting a venous valve.
Medical thermofusion instrument
A current supply arrangement (22) is used for electrical supply of two electrodes (18, 19), as well as for mechanical force transmission in a thermofusion instrument. Due to the configuration of the two electrical conductors (23, 28) as upright arranged flat parts and the force concerned coupling thereof in an interlocking section (32), the electrical conductors (23, 28) can be used as mechanical stiffening elements, whereby a filigree, gap-free, easily and reliably sterilizable configuration is achieved. The current supply of the instrument (10) is provided via one single cable (20) only, which is provided only on one of the two jaws (11, 12).
CURVED FIRE-FORWARD NEEDLE FOR PUNCTURING AND TRAVERSING VASCULATURE
A needle firing assembly of methods of use includes a firing device, a catheter extending from the firing device, a needle extending from the firing device and through an interior of the catheter, the needle having a curvature proximate a distal end of the needle opposite the firing device, and a suction device in fluid communication with an interior of the catheter. The suction device is configured to draw a suction force through a distal end of the catheter opposite the firing device. The firing device is configured to move the needle in a forward firing direction relative to the catheter to extend the distal end of the needle through the distal end of the catheter.
MEDICAL DEVICE
A medical device (10) includes a first jaw (32a) and a second jaw (32b). A first proximal end portion (38a) of the first jaw has a first protrusion (72a), and a second proximal end portion (38b) of the second jaw has a second protrusion (72b). When the first jaw and the second jaw are in a closed state, the first protrusion protrudes toward the second proximal end portion, and the second protrusion protrudes toward the first proximal end portion. The first protrusion has a first sliding contact surface (78a) that comes into sliding contact with the second proximal end portion when the first jaw and the second jaw are closed. The second protrusion has a second sliding contact surface (78b) that comes into sliding contact with the first proximal end portion when the first jaw and the second jaw are closed.
BREASTFEEDING SYSTEM
A breastfeeding system is provided. The breastfeeding system includes a breastfeeding collection and simulation device, which includes: one or more breast cover layers, wherein one or more of the layers are conformable to at least a portion of one or more breasts, wherein the layers are configured to interface with the breasts, and wherein one or more of the layers include one or more receptacle spaces into which liquid can flow; and one or more of simulation devices that each one or more of mimics and simulates breastfeeding and that is at least one of included in and associated with at least a portion of at least one of the breasts and of the layers, the one or more simulation devices configured to at least one of contact and interact with at least one of one or more of the layers and one or more of the breasts.
