An improved ornament-hanging hook and system includes an ornament-hanging apparatus and one or more ornament-hanging hooks, wherein each of the one or more ornament-hanging hooks includes an ornament-engaging loop, a first engagement-element for engaging a tree branch or other hanging structure, and a second engagement element disposed between the ornament-engaging loop and the first engagement-element for contact with the ornament-hanging apparatus during hanging. The second engagement-element has a second bend having a plurality of flections, wherein a portion of the second bend forms a fulcrum. Upon engagement with the ornament-hanging apparatus at the fulcrum, an ornament attached at the ornament-engaging loop is balanced gravitationally such that the first-engagement element is positioned upright and in an unobstructed manner.

An adapter device is disclosed for removably securing a carrying strap to a guitar or other musical instrument provided with a strap mounting button. The adapter device includes a housing defining a cavity for receipt of a clamp member movably mounted to the housing. The housing has a strap stud and a threaded nut for securing the housing to the carrying musical instrument. The clamp member has an elongate slot for receipt of a shaft of the mounting button of the musical instrument. The clamp member further includes an enlarged cavity for receipt of an enlarged circular head of the mounting button to prevent the mounting button from pulling out of the slot in the clamp member. A latch member is movably mounted to the housing and movable from an unlocking position to a locking position covering the clamp member and securing the clamp member within the cavity of the housing. tab is provided on the latch member to secure the latch member in the locking position.

Water-soluble male molded hook-and-loop fastener and method for producing same

A water-soluble male-type molded hook-and-loop fastener includes a substrate and a plurality of male-type engaging elements, arranged in rows, protruding from the substrate surface. The engaging elements have a shape rising from the substrate surface and curving mid-course in a row direction, or a shape rising from the substrate surface, branching forward and backward mid-course in the row direction and curving in the row direction, with tip portions oriented toward the substrate surface in either shape. The substrate and the engaging elements both contain a mixture of a polyvinyl alcohol, 5 to 30 parts by mass of a polyhydric alcohol- or ethylene oxide-based polymer, and 3 to 20 parts by mass of a layered inorganic particle, based on 100 parts by mass of the polyvinyl alcohol. The polyvinyl alcohol has a degree of polymerization of 300 to 700 and a degree of saponification of 60 to 80% by mole.

Method of adhering a microelectromechanical (MEMS) device to a flexible fabric substrate

Radial-armed thin-film bilayers are designed and fabricated from a metal and an oxide to produce grippers that interact with the yarns or fibers of the fabric and form a mechanical tangle attachment to the fabric. MEMs devices attached to the grippers enable the MEMs devices to be adhered to a flexible and/or extensible fabric. Fabrics comprise conventional textile, smart textiles, functional fibers or other smart materials. The fabrics thus incorporate wearable sensors, medical devices, and other functional MEMs for commercial, biomedical, industrial and scientific applications.
