TREATMENT TOOL
A treatment tool includes: an insertion tube; a distal end part that is provided at a distal end of the insertion tube; a shaft that is provided in the distal end part and that includes an outer circumferential surface; and a pair of transmitters each of which is inserted into the insertion tube and is fixed to the distal end part, the pair of transmitters being configured to transmit a drive force that causes the distal end part to flex with respect to the insertion tube, each transmitter being arranged along the outer circumferential surface with the shaft being sandwiched between the pair of transmitters and, on a distal end side with respect to the shaft, the pair of transmitters extending in a state of being separate from each other in a distance smaller than a diameter of the outer circumferential surface of the shaft.
Surgical instruments including components and features facilitating the assembly and manufacturing thereof
A surgical instrument includes a shell having a housing and a shaft. The shell including first and second shell components configured to engage one another to form the shell, each of which is monolithically formed to include a housing portion and a shaft portion. Upon engagement of the first and second shell components with one another, the housing portions cooperate to form the housing of the shell while the shaft portions cooperate to form the shaft of the shell. An end effector assembly is operably coupled to the shaft at a distal end of the shaft. A handle assembly is operably coupled to the housing. A drive assembly disposed within the shell is operably coupled between the handle assembly and the end effector assembly such that actuation of the handle assembly manipulates the end effector assembly.
ENGAGEMENT FEATURES AND METHODS FOR ATTACHING A DRIVE ROD TO A KNIFE BLADE IN AN ARTICULATING SURGICAL INSTRUMENT
A method for attaching a drive rod to a knife includes: forming a knife having proximal and distal ends; forming an aperture within the proximal end of the knife, the aperture including a series of fins disposed therein; weaving a distal end of a knife rod through the series of fins in an alternating manner; and engaging a cap onto the distal end of the knife drive rod to secure the knife drive rod within the aperture of the knife.
ADJUSTABLE CLAMP SYSTEMS AND METHODS
Tissue treatment systems include an actuator handle assembly coupled with a clamp assembly having a first jaw mechanism and a second jaw mechanism. A first jaw mechanism includes a first flexible boot, a first flexible ablation member coupled with the first flexible boot, and a first rotatable jawbone disposed within the first flexible boot. A second jaw mechanism comprises a second flexible boot, a second flexible ablation member coupled with the second flexible boot, and a second rotatable jawbone disposed within the second flexible boot.
Electromechanical surgical assembly
An electromechanical surgical assembly includes a surgical device, an adapter, and a filter. The surgical device includes a connecting portion having a distal facing recess including an electrical plug. The adapter includes a proximal facing cap configured to mate with the recess of the surgical device, the proximal facing cap including an electronic assembly including a plurality of electrical contact pins configured for electrical connection with the electrical plug. The filter is removably positioned within the recess of the surgical device. The plurality of electrical contact pins extend through the filter when the adapter is connected to the surgical device.
Pressure sensitive tissue treatment device
Methods and devices for treating nasal airways are provided. Such devices and methods may improve airflow through an internal and/or external nasal valve, and comprise the use of mechanical re-shaping, energy application and other treatments to modify the shape, structure, and/or air flow characteristics of an internal nasal valve, an external nasal valve or other nasal airways.
ELECTROSURGICAL FORCEPS FOR VIDEO ASSISTED THORACOSCOPIC SURGERY AND OTHER SURGICAL PROCEDURES
A surgical instrument includes a shaft defining an axis, an end effector coupled to a distal portion thereof, a fixed handle coupled to a proximal portion thereof, a drive bar, a movable handle, and a linkage. The drive bar is disposed within the shaft and operably coupled to the end effector. The movable handle is movable relative to the fixed handle between open and closed positions and is coupled to the drive bar via a first pin on the axis. The linkage includes a first end portion coupled to the movable handle via a second pin and a second end portion coupled to the shaft via a third pin on the axis. In the closed position of the movable handle, the second pin is disposed in a near-over-center position relative to the axis to reduce a force necessary to maintain the movable handle in the closed position.
Medical treatment apparatus and method of controlling the same
A medical treatment apparatus includes a heat transfer portion, a heating chip, a temperature measurement unit and a control unit. The heat transfer portion comes into contact with a living tissue and transfers heat to the living tissue. The heating chip includes a heating region, is joined to the heat transfer portion, and heats the heat transfer portion by inputting energy to the heating region. The temperature measurement unit acquires a temperature of the heating region. The control unit controls a temperature of the heat transfer portion to a target temperature by controlling the temperature of the heating region to a temperature differing from the target temperature by an offset value which changes in accordance with an amount of the energy.
TREATMENT TOOL
A treatment tool includes: a tubular insertion tube; an end effector that is provided at a distal end of the insertion tube and is bendable with respect to the insertion tube, the end effector being configured to apply treatment energy to a living tissue according to supplied power to treat the living tissue; a shaft body that is provided in the end effector and has an outer peripheral surface located on a circumference of a specific circle centered on a rotation axis when viewed from a direction along the rotation axis, the rotation axis allowing the end effector to be bent with respect to the insertion tube; and a wiring that is inserted through the insertion tube and serves as a supply path of the power, the shaft body including a passage through which the wiring is inserted.
SURGICAL FORCEPS
A forceps includes a pair of shafts each having a jaw member disposed at a distal end thereof. One (or both) of the shafts is moveable relative to the other about a pivot pin between a spaced-apart position and an approximated position to move the jaw members between an open position and a closed position. A knife assembly includes a knife blade mechanically keyed to the pivot pin and moveable between an initial position, wherein the knife blade is disposed within one of the jaw members, and an extended position, wherein the knife blade extends between the jaw members. An actuator arm(s) is mechanically keyed to the pivot pin and extends therefrom. The actuator arm(s) is moveable between an un-actuated position and an actuated position to rotate the pivot pin relative to the jaw members to move the knife blade between the initial position and the extended position.
