Electrosurgery Patient Pad Monitor
An electrosurgery system includes a first generator configured to output an operating signal. The system also includes a pathway for the operating signal, the pathway includes an active electrode and a patient pad. The system also includes a circuit configured to measure a complex impedance of the patient pad. The circuit includes a second generator configured to output a measuring signal. The system also includes a voltage transformer, a current transformer, and a plurality of filters.
ADJUSTMENT OF A SURGICAL DEVICE FUNCTION BASED ON SITUATIONAL AWARENESS
Surgical devices and surgical systems are disclosed. The surgical device can comprise an actuator and a control circuit configured to adjust one or more functions of the surgical device based on a signal from a situationally-aware surgical hub. A surgical system can comprise a screen and a control circuit configured to communicate a priority level of a recommendation to the clinician on the display.
Spatial awareness of surgical hubs in operating rooms
Various surgical hubs are disclosed. A surgical hub is for use with a surgical system in a surgical procedure performed in an operating room. The surgical hub comprises a control circuit configured to: determine bounds of the operating room; determine devices of the surgical system located within the bounds of the operating room; and pair the surgical hub with the devices of the surgical system located within the bounds of the operating room.
Device and method for unattended treatment of a patient
An unattended approach can increase the reproducibility and safety of the treatment as the chance of over/under treating of a certain area is significantly decreased. On the other hand, unattended treatment of uneven or rugged areas can be challenging in terms of maintaining proper distance or contact with the treated tissue, mostly on areas which tend to differ from patient to patient (e.g. facial area). Delivering energy via a system of active elements embedded in a flexible pad adhesively attached to the skin offers a possible solution. The unattended approach may include delivering of multiple energies to enhance a visual appearance.
Managing simultaneous monopolar outputs using duty cycle and synchronization
Aspects of the present disclosure are presented for managing simultaneous outputs of surgical instruments. In some aspects, methods are presented for synchronizing the current frequencies. In some aspects, methods are presented for conducting duty cycling of energy outputs of two or more instruments. In some aspects, systems are presented for managing simultaneous monopolar outputs of two or more instruments, including providing a return pad that properly handles both monopolar outputs in some cases.
ULTRASONIC ENERGY DEVICE WHICH VARIES PRESSURE APPLIED BY CLAMP ARM TO PROVIDE THRESHOLD CONTROL PRESSURE AT A CUT PROGRESSION LOCATION
Surgical instruments and system and methods for using surgical instruments are disclosed. A surgical instrument comprises an end effector comprising an ultrasonic blade and clamp arm, an ultrasonic transducer, and a control circuit. The ultrasonic transducer ultrasonically oscillates the ultrasonic blade in response to a drive signal from a generator. The end effector receives electrosurgical energy to weld tissue. The control circuit determines a resonant frequency measure indicative of a thermally induced change in resonant frequency and a electrical continuity measure; calculates a weld focal point based on the determined measures, controls closure of the clamp arm to vary a pressure applied by the clamp arm to provide a threshold control pressure to the tissue loaded into the end effector, and maintains a gap between the ultrasonic blade and clamp arm at a point proximal to the proximal end of the tissue. Pressure is varied based on corresponding weld focal point.
Skin treatment devices and methods
Radiofrequency (RF) skin treatment devices and methods are provided herein. RF energy is delivered via electrodes in a phase-controlled manner which heats skin volumes below the surface more than the skin surface itself. At least one electrode at least partially encloses at least one other electrode. The combination of controlling the phases of the RF energy delivered to different electrodes and the enclosing configuration of the electrodes allows concentrating the delivered energy in specific regions below the skin surface at a particularly high efficiency. Configurations of the enclosing and the enclosed electrodes, their forms and combinations with other electrodes and the phase polarities applied to the electrodes are also provided.
Method for constructing and using a modular surgical energy system with multiple devices
A method for constructing a modular surgical system is disclosed. The method comprises providing a header module comprising a first power backplane segment, providing a surgical module comprising a second power backplane segment, assembling the header module and the surgical module to electrically couple the first power backplane segment and the second power backplane segment to each other to form a power backplane, and applying power to the surgical module through the power backplane.

INTERFACE MODULE FOR USE WITH NERVE MONITORING AND ELECTROSURGERY
Concepts presented herein relate to an interface module that can be electrically coupled to an electrical stimulation generator, a radio frequency generator and an instrument. A selection module is coupled to the interface module and operates in a first mode to deliver electrical stimulation signals from the electrical stimulation generator to the instrument and in a second mode to deliver radio frequency signals from the radio frequency generator to the instrument.
