Beam selection criteria for single carrier waveform
This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for selecting a beam to be allocated for transmitting downlink (DL) data to user equipment (UE). In some implementations, a UE receives a reference signal on each of a number of beams associated with a base station, and determines a delay spread value for each beam. The UE identifies each beam for which the determined channel delay spread value is less than a threshold value, and determines a reference signal received power (RSRP) level for each identified beam. The UE transmits an indication of the determined RSRP levels of the identified beams to the base station, and receives, in response to the transmitted indication, a selection of the beam to be allocated for DL transmissions to the UE.

Apparatus, systems, and methods to implement enhanced sounding reference signaling for uplink (UL) beam tracking in communication systems are described. In one example, an apparatus of an evolved Node B (eNB) comprising processing circuit to broadcast system information about one or more sets of uplink transmit time intervals and bandwidths available for a sounding reference signal (SRS) transmission from a first user equipment (UE), configure one or more UE-specific SRS processes for the first UE for uplink beam tracking, and configure one or more millimeter wave access points (mmW APs) to transmit a mmW signal to the first UE and receive a mmW signal from the first UE. Beam measurement method, terminal and network device
Disclosed are a beam measurement method, a terminal and a network device. The method comprises: a terminal receiving measurement configuration information sent by a network device, wherein the measurement configuration information is used for indicating a parameter used when measuring at least one beam; the terminal measuring the at least one beam according to the measurement configuration information to obtain a measurement result; and the terminal sending the measurement result to the network device. By means of the beam measurement method in the present application, a terminal receives measurement configuration information sent by a network device and measures a beam according to the measurement configuration information to obtain a more accurate measurement result based on the beam, so that it is beneficial for the network device to configure the terminal more efficiently according to the measurement result.
Determination of a preferred beam in a cellular communication network employing signal beam-forming
A method for acquiring an indication of a preferred beam of a wireless communication device is disclosed. The method is performed in a network node of a cellular communication network. The network node is adapted to support a plurality of beams of a signal beam-forming scheme and to communicate with the wireless communication device using at least one beam of the plurality of beams. A message indicative of the beam power setting is transmitted to the wireless communication device. Measurement signals are also transmitted. A report indicative of the preferred beam is received from the wireless communication device. The preferred beam is determined by the wireless communication device based on the measurement signals and the beam power setting. Corresponding methods for the wireless communication device, as well as corresponding arrangements, network node, wireless communication device, cellular communication network, and computer program products are also disclosed.
Beam switch related information feedback in wireless communications
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which measurements of a number of beams that are transmitted from a first device, measured at a second device are provided in a beam switch metric report from the second device. The beam switch metric report may provide the first device with information that is otherwise unavailable to the first device and that may be used for setting beam management parameters.
