An electronic device includes a first antenna facing a first direction, a second antenna facing a second direction, and at least one processor configured to obtain a first value indicating a quality of a first signal received via a beam formed by using the first antenna and a second value indicating a quality of a second signal received via a beam formed by using the second antenna; based on identifying that a value from among the first value and the second value is greater than or equal to a reference value, enable both the first antenna and the second antenna; based on identifying that the first value is less than the reference value and is greater than or equal to the second value, enable the first antenna; and based on identifying that the second value is less than the reference value and is greater than the first value, enable the second antenna.
TECHNIQUES FOR MANAGING BASE STATION BEAM PANIC FOR NEW RADIO TECHNOLOGIES
Techniques for managing base station beam panic for new radio technologies may include a user equipment (UE) measuring a signal quality of a serving beam from a base station. The UE may determine the signal quality has decreased by at least a threshold amount, and enable a signal panic operation to search for a beam different from the serving beam, in response to the signal quality decreasing by at least the threshold amount.
Methods and systems for mitigating interference with a nearby satellite
In one embodiment, an antenna system is described. The antenna system includes a primary antenna on an aircraft. The primary antenna is mechanically steerable and has an asymmetric antenna beam pattern with a narrow beamwidth axis and a wide beamwidth axis at boresight. The antenna system also includes a secondary antenna on the aircraft, the secondary antenna including an array of antenna elements. The antenna system also includes an antenna selection system to control communication of a signal between the aircraft and a target satellite via the primary antenna and the secondary antenna. The antenna selection system switches communication of the signal from the primary antenna to the secondary antenna when an amount of interference with an adjacent satellite reaches a threshold due to the wide beamwidth axis of the asymmetric antenna beam pattern.
Spatial Antenna Diversity Techniques
Embodiments disclosed herein include headphone devices with spatially diverse antennas employing multiple operational modes and antenna switching policies. The headphone device may identify a current mode of operation and wirelessly communicate with at least one external device based at least in part on the current mode of operation. Further, operating in a first mode of operation, the headphone device may cause switching circuitry to selectively couple a first antenna to the common port in accordance with a first antenna switching policy. While operating in the second mode of operation, the headphone device may cause circuitry to selectively couple a second antenna to the common port in accordance with a second antenna switching policy that is different from the first antenna switching policy.
Antenna diversity system and method for an information handling system (IHS)
According to one illustrative, non-limiting embodiment, an IHS may include computer-executable instructions for receiving first and second signal quality measurements from first and second antennas disposed at a first and second locations, respectively, in a housing of an IHS in which the first location is distally separated from the second location. The instructions then select one of the first or second antennas according to the first or second signal quality measurement, and establish a first wireless communication link with a remote device using the selected first or second antennas.
METHOD OF SWITCHING ANTENNA FOR REDUCING SPECIFIC ABSORPTION RATE AND ELECTRONIC DEVICE SUPPORTING THE SAME
An electronic device and method are provided for switching an antenna for SAR reduction. The method includes sequentially switching, based on a predetermined schedule, a plurality of antennas having different main emission directions, when transmitting a wireless signal.
Heat Dissipation for Millimeter-Wave Devices with Antenna Switching
Described herein are systems, methods and devices for implementing a temperature-aware, multi-antenna scheduler that cools mmWave devices by preventing heat buildup via switching or distributing a data stream to other redundant antennas, allowing for dissipation of heat as well as providing reliable connectivity.
METHOD FOR RESISTING SMALL BASE STATION UPLINK SIGNAL INTERFERENCE OF INDOOR DAS SYSTEM BASED ON ANTENNA SELECTION
The present invention provides a method for resisting small base station uplink signal interference of an indoor DAS based on antenna selection. The method comprises: step 1: determining an initial access RU, and establishing an uplink; step 2: determining, by the access RU of UE 1 on the basis of the level of interference, whether to switch to another RU, and continuously detecting, by the access RU of UE 1 an SINR value at a set time interval, and comparing the SINR with a preset threshold value γ1; wherein if the SINR value is lower than γ1, an MU sets the access RU and each peripheral RU as a candidate RU, and the MU, on the basis of the acquired SINR value of each RU, selects an SINR greater than γ1 and sets the RU having the greatest receiving signal power as the new access RU of UE 1.
