MATERIAL REMOVAL FROM SURGICAL SITE
A fluid source on a carrier is configured to rotate relative to a probe to direct a fluid stream from the source toward an opening of an evacuation lumen. This may help to remove material that may collect near the opening, such as blood clots and tissue. Also, directing the fluid stream toward the evacuation lumen can draw flowable material from the surgical site toward the evacuation lumen to improve removal of material from the surgical site.
ELECTROSURGICAL BLADE ELECTRODE ADDING PRECISION DISSECTION PERFORMANCE AND TACTILE FEEDBACK
An electrosurgical blade (900) configured to couple to an RF electrosurgical instrument (100). The electrosurgical blade (900) includes a proximal portion (900a) configured to couple to a blade receptacle (104) of an RF electrosurgical instrument (100), a coagulation section (920) extending distally from the proximal portion (900a), a blade edge (940) defined around a periphery of the electrosurgical blade (900), and a ramped surface (930) extending between the coagulation section (920) and the blade edge (940). The blade edge (940) includes a right-angled tip (944) and is defined by a first side (941) extending longitudinally, a second side (942) extending longitudinally and having a curved portion (942c), and a distal side (943) extending laterally.
Arthroscopic devices and methods
An arthroscopy system includes both a motorized handpiece and a detachable probe. The motorized handpiece includes a rotating driver which is configured to engage a rotatable drive coupling within a hub of the probe. The probe has a shaft with an articulating distal region, and the rotatable drive coupling is configured to convert the rotary motion of the rotating driver to an articulating motion within the articulating region of the probe.
ARTHROSCOPIC DEVICES AND METHODS
An electrosurgical probe includes an elongated shaft assembly having a proximal end, a distal end, and a longitudinal axis. A distal housing is mounted on the distal end of the shaft and optionally includes a laterally open window where a plane of the window is generally perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the shaft. An interior channel extends axially through the shaft and further through an interior of the housing to the window in the housing. An electrode member with a serrated or other elongated edge may extend longitudinally across the window and may be configured to reciprocate the elongated edge longitudinally relative to the window.
ARTHROSCOPIC DEVICES AND METHODS
An arthroscopic tissue resecting probe includes an elongated shaft having outer and inner sleeves which are formed from an electrically conductive material extending about an axis to a working end. Outer and inner resecting windows are formed in the sleeves in the working end. The working end includes a ceramic body having a collar portion extending fully around a region of the outer sleeve proximal to outer resecting window. A radiofrequency (RF) electrode is disposed on an outer surface of the ceramic body and is spaced-apart from the outer resecting window.
Medical ablation system and method of use
A probe for ablating tissue comprises an electrosurgical working end configured to provide a first plasma about a first surface location and a second plasma about a second surface location, the first plasma having first ablation parameters and the second plasma having second ablation parameters. The probe has a working end with a thickness below 3 mm and produces a low temperature plasma.
RADIOFREQUENCY ABLATION OF TISSUE WITHIN A VERTEBRAL BODY
Methods and systems for modulating intraosseous nerves (e.g., nerves within bone) are provided. For example, the methods and systems described herein may be used to modulate (e.g., denervate, ablate) basivertebral nerves within vertebrae. The modulation of the basivertebral nerves may facilitate treatment of chronic back pain. The modulation may be performed by a neuromodulation device (e.g., an energy delivery device).
SMOKE MITIGATION ASSEMBLY FOR BIPOLAR PENCIL
An electrosurgical pencil includes a housing having proximal and distal ends, the proximal end adapted to connect to an energy source and the distal end adapted to receive an end effector assembly therein, the end effector assembly defining a surface area along a length thereof. An activation switch is operably associated with the housing and is configured to deliver electrosurgical energy to the end effector assembly upon actuation thereof. An air control valve is operatively coupled to the activation switch and is configured to simultaneously deliver a gas from a gas source to the surface area around the end effector upon actuation of the activation switch. One or more vents are defined in the distal end of the housing and are configured to direct the gas towards the surface area of the end effector.
Surgical manipulator and method for controlling pose of an instrument based on virtual rigid body modelling
A surgical manipulator is disclosed which includes a surgical instrument, an arm comprising a plurality of links and being configured to support and move the surgical instrument, and at least one controller. The at least one controller is configured to model the surgical instrument as a virtual rigid body. Forces and torques are applied externally to the surgical instrument. The at least one controller determines a commanded pose of the surgical instrument based on evaluation of the forces and torques and controls movement of the arm to place the surgical instrument according to the commanded pose.
ARTHROSCOPIC DEVICES AND METHODS
An arthroscopic cutter according to one embodiment of the present disclosure includes an elongated outer sleeve that extends about a longitudinal axis with an interior bore having an open distal end. An inner sleeve is rotatable in the interior bore in the outer sleeve. The inner sleeve carries a distal housing having a longitudinal metal member and a longitudinal ceramic member that respectively form longitudinal-extending sides of the housing around an inner channel that communicates with a negative pressure source. The arthroscopic cutter also includes an electrode that is disposed in an outer surface of the longitudinal ceramic member.
