Embodiments of this application provide a scheduling request processing method and a terminal device. The scheduling request processing method includes: determining, by a terminal device, whether there is a regular BSR associated with a first logical channel that is triggered and has not been canceled; and if a regular BSR associated with the first logical channel is triggered and has not been canceled, and the terminal device has no uplink resource available to transmit data of the first logical channel, and a first timer of the terminal device is not running, triggering, by the terminal device, an SR, where the first timer is configured to delay transmission of the SR. According to the scheduling request processing method provided in the embodiments of this application, when the terminal device has no uplink resource available to transmit the data of the logical channel associated with the BSR, the SR is triggered to implement uplink resource scheduling, thereby satisfying a QoS requirement of the data carried on the logical channel.

A method of configuring downlink timings and transmitting a random access response message is provided for a random access procedure in a Long Term Evolution (LTE) system supporting carrier aggregation. The method for adjusting timing of a terminal in a wireless communication system supporting carrier aggregation of at least one carrier includes transmitting a Random Access Preamble to a base station, and receiving a Random Access Response with a Timing Advance Command (TAC) for commanding uplink timing adjustment from the base station, wherein the Random Access Response comprises information indicating a Timing Advance Group (TAG) to which the TAC is applied.

Method and apparatus for allocation of physical resources for uplink transmissions

A first allocation of physical resources for uplink transmission is received over a downlink signaling channel. Data of a logical channel is received. A first block is transmitted over the first allocated physical resources in response to receipt of the data of the logical channel. A timer is initiated in response to transmission of the first block. In response to an expiration of the timer and not receiving a second allocation of physical resources, a first type of request from a plurality of types of requests is selected and the selected first type of request for the second allocation of physical resources is transmitted over an uplink signaling channel. The second allocation of physical resources is received in response to the transmitted first type of request. A second block is transmitted in response to the second allocation of physical resources over the second allocated physical resources.

A method of operating multiple time alignment timers (TimeAlignmentTimer) is provided for facilitating communication between and evolved Node B (eNB) and a User Equipment (UE) in a Long Term Evolution (LTE) system supporting multiple carriers. The method includes starting a first TAT of a first group including the primary cell, starting a second TAT when Timing Advance (TA) information on a second group not including the primary cell is received; and determining transmission of at least one of a Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request Acknowledgement/Negative-acknowledgement (HARQ ACK/NACK), a physical uplink control channel, and a sounding reference signal according to a start and an expiration of at least one of the first and second TATs.

Telecommunications apparatus and methods

A wireless telecommunications system supports a DRX operating mode for communications between a base station and terminal device, which includes a regular repeating cycle of DRX inactive periods when the terminal device monitors a downlink channel from the base station and DRX active periods when the terminal device enters a power-saving mode not monitoring the downlink channel. The terminal device transmits uplink signaling, triggering subsequent downlink signaling, that may include acknowledgement signalling for a previous downlink transmission or an uplink transmission resources request. The base station receives the uplink signalling, determines time of an upcoming DRX inactive period for the terminal device, and delays transmitting downlink signalling responding to the uplink signalling until the upcoming DRX inactive period. The terminal device enters the power saving mode after transmitting the uplink signalling and exits the power saving mode for the DRX inactive period to monitor the downlink channel for downlink signalling.

The first timer value is determined based on one or both of a selected first TTI length from multiple TTI lengths for which the device can be enabled and/or a selected shorter first processing time over a second processing time associated with a TTI length used by the device.
