Tissue extraction devices and methods
A tissue cutting device has an outer sleeve with a distal window and an inner cutting sleeve which moves past the window to cut tissue. The inner cutting sleeve has a lumen which may have a larger proximal diameter than distal diameter. A perimeter of the window may comprise a dielectric material. A distal edge of the inner sleeve may be displaced inwardly.
Percutaneous blepharoplasty device and method
Approaches for percutaneous blepharoplasty are provided. An electrosurgical device includes: a hand-piece; a tip connected to the hand-piece; and two needles extending from a distal end of the tip. The hand-piece is structured and arranged to connect to an electrical energy source, and to convey electrical energy from the electrical energy source to the needles in a percutaneous blepharoplasty procedure.
SURGICAL DEVICE HAVING CONSTRAINED ELECTRODE AND METHOD OF USE
A tissue resecting device includes an elongated shaft having a central axis, a distal end, and a proximal end. A ceramic or other housing is mounted at the distal end of the shaft and has a tissue-receiving window. A movable electrode is configured to be rotationally oscillated or otherwise moved across the window. In one instance, the rotatable moveable electrode may have a dogleg configuration with a free end constrained within an arcuate slot formed near the window. In another instance, the movable electrode may have a U-shaped configuration with a distal end coupled to a pivot in the housing which is aligned with a rotational drive member.
Tissue extraction devices and methods
A tissue resection device comprises inner and outer coaxial sleeves. The outer sleeve has a cutting window formed therein, and the inner sleeve has a distal cutting end that can be reciprocated past the cutting window. The sleeves comprise electrodes to provide electrosurgical cutting, and an edge portion of the window includes a dielectric material.
DEVICE FOR COLLAGENOUS TISSUE TREATMENT
A method of contraction of collagenous tissue between urethra and vagina includes positioning an RF active electrode between a urethra and a vagina and delivering RF energy into the collagenous tissue. The method includes using a mechanism to direct the active electrode into the safe position to avoid damage of important structures.
ENT ABLATION INSTRUMENT WITH ELECTRODE LOOP
An apparatus includes a shaft assembly and an electrode assembly at a distal end of the shaft assembly. The electrode assembly includes a first conductive segment extending along a first angular range at the distal end of the shaft assembly. The first conductive segment is operable to apply RF energy to tissue at a first polarity. The electrode assembly further includes a second conductive segment angularly spaced apart from the first conductive segment. The second conductive segment extends along a second angular range at the distal end of the shaft assembly. The second conductive segment is operable to apply RF energy to tissue at a second polarity such that the first and second conductive segments are operable to apply bipolar RF energy to tissue.
Incision instrument
An incision instrument includes an insertion section and a manipulation section. The insertion section includes a first insulating member and an incision section inserted within the first insulating member. The incision section includes a tubular shaped first conductive member which has conductivity; a second conductive member disposed in the first conductive member; a contact section provided on an outer circumference surface of the second conductive member; and a second insulating member fixed to a distal end of the first conductive member and having an opening section. The manipulation section includes a manipulation main body section and a handle member. The second insulating member is positioned between the contact section and the first conductive section in a state in which the second conductive member is protruded from the opening section of the second insulating member.
Surgical instruments and methods for performing tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, and other surgical procedures
An end effector assembly for a surgical instrument includes first and second jaw members, each including a jaw frame, spacer, electrically-conductive plate, and outer housing. The jaw frame includes at least one proximal flange and a distal jaw support extending distally therefrom. The spacer defines a body and a wing disposed on either side of the body. The body defines a channel configured to receive the distal jaw support while each wing defines a slot. The plate defines a tissue-contacting portion and first and second legs extending perpendicularly from the tissue-contacting portion. The tissue-contacting portion is configured to sit atop the body of the spacer. Each of the legs is configured for receipt within the slot defined within one of the wings. The outer housing at least partially surrounds the distal jaw support, spacer, and legs and is configured to retain these components in position relative to one another.
Ablation therapy to disrupt coordinated bladder contractions
The disclosure describes devices, systems, and techniques for identifying and treating bladder dysfunction. In one example, a method includes identifying one or more focal points at respective locations of bladder tissue of a bladder of a patient, the one or more focal points initiating coordinated contractions of a detrusor muscle. The method may also, or alternatively, include ablating, for each of the one or more focal points, a respective portion of the bladder tissue at the respective location of the focal point. Ablation of these targeted portions of the bladder tissue may reduce the coordinated contractions of the detrusor muscle and alleviate overactive bladder symptoms.
SURGICAL DEVICE HAVING AXIALLY RECIPROCATING ELECTRODE ASSEMBLY AND METHODS FOR TREATING PROSTATE
A tissue resecting device includes a handle, a shaft assembly movably attached to the handle, a housing secured to a distal end of the shaft, and an electrode. The electrode is disposed in the housing to move across a window, and at least one motor in the handle both reciprocates the shaft assembly relative to the handle and drives the electrode across the window.
