A multipurpose electrosurgical device is configurable in a bipolar mode and a monopolar mode using a three-conductor electrical input. The device includes a switching mechanism that provides signals corresponding with a first function and a second function in a monopolar mode. The switching mechanism also provides a signal corresponding with a third function in a bipolar mode.

Compression stent with electrodes

A device for compressing a renal artery prior to delivery of radiofrequency ablative energy to the renal nerves. The device includes a stent structure with a focal region that expands outwards to place the RF electrodes located on the stent structure in close proximity to the renal nerves. A covering is applied to the stent structure to prevent intimal hyperplasia.

Unfurling electrode devices

Methods, systems, and devices for providing treatment to a tissue in body lumens are described. The system may include a catheter, an expansion member coupled with a distal portion of the catheter, an ablation structure including one or more longitudinal electrode segments, and an ablation structure support coupled to the ablation structure configured to at least partially unfurl as the expansion member expands and furl as the expansion member contracts. The ablation structure may include multiple separately wired and/or separately controlled longitudinal electrodes, longitudinal electrode zones, or both, such that each longitudinal electrode or longitudinal electrode zone may be selectively enabled or selectively disabled. In some instances, one or more springs are coupled to the ablation structure configured to promote unfurl or furl around the expansion member. In some instances, one or more protection elements are be positioned along the catheter.

A surgical cauterizer includes an elongate body member having a tapered distal-end portion terminating at an apex. A cauterizing tip extends from the apex. A hollow passageway is formed in the interior of the elongate body member. Formed in the tapered distal-end portion of the elongate body member is at least one smoke intake port for providing a smoke evacuation pathway between a region proximate the cauterizing tip and the hollow passageway within the elongate body member. A tube connected to an outlet of the hollow passageway may provide a vacuum for evacuating the smoke generated by cauterization. In an embodiment, the elongate body member may include a first and second arms that define a forceps operable between an open position and a closed position.

Surgical instrument with dispensable components

A surgical instrument includes an active electrode coupled to a source of electrosurgical energy. The active electrode includes a tissue-contacting surface on an exterior surface of the instrument such that the tissue-contacting surface of the active electrode may intimately engage tissue. A replacement electrode includes a tissue-contacting surface, and is located in an interior cavity of the instrument. A seal is formed between the active electrode and the interior cavity of the instrument such that the tissue-contacting-surface of the replacement electrode is isolated from contamination exposed to the exterior of the instrument. The active electrode is removable from the instrument to expose the tissue-contacting surface of the replacement electrode, and the replacement electrode is connectable to the source of electrosurgical energy when the active electrode is removed.

The present disclosure provides a surgical cartridge assembly including a proximal end, a distal end, and an elongate channel. The elongate channel includes a base and at least one opening within the base. The surgical cartridge assembly further includes a cartridge body configured to be removably received within the elongate channel and a slot configured to receive a cutting member. In addition, the surgical cartridge assembly includes at least one lockout tab extending from the proximal end of the cartridge body, wherein the at least one lockout tab is configured to cover the at least one opening when the cartridge body is received within the elongate channel, and wherein the at least one lockout tab disables a lockout mechanism to allow the cutting member to advance distally through the slot.

INTEGRATED NASAL NERVE DETECTOR ABLATION-APPARATUS, NASAL NERVE LOCATOR, AND METHODS OF USE

Systems and related methods for identifying and/or ablating targeted nerves are provided. A probe with stimulating electrodes and/or ablation members are provided. The probe may be inserted into a nasal cavity and current may be introduced through the electrodes to stimulate a targeted area. The response to stimulation may be used to identify the targeted nerve. Once identified, the ablation member may ablate the targeted nerve.
