Energy delivery systems and uses thereof
The present invention relates to comprehensive systems, devices and methods for delivering energy to tissue for a wide variety of applications, including medical procedures (e.g., tissue ablation, resection, cautery, vascular thrombosis, treatment of cardiac arrhythmias and dysrhythmias, electrosurgery, tissue harvest, etc.). In certain embodiments, systems, devices, and methods are provided for treating a tissue region (e.g., a tumor) through application of energy.
TISSUE ABLATION AND ASSESSMENT SYSTEM AND METHOD OF USE THEREOF
The present disclosure provides a system with an innovative electrode designed as an RF/microwave antenna as well as methods to monitor/assess biological tissue and perform surgical procedures.
Microwave ablation antenna assemblies
A microwave ablation antenna assembly includes an elongate body that extends from a first end to a second end thereof, and which defines therein a hollow inner volume and a longitudinal axis of the antenna. The ablation antenna assembly includes an applicator tip portion mounted on the second end of the elongate body, an elongate coaxial conductor assembly for connection to a source of microwave energy, a dipole tip portion that extends from the feed point of the coaxial conductor assembly towards the applicator tip, and a choke assembly with first and second choke conductors.
Ablation cable assemblies having a large diameter coaxial feed cable reduced to a small diameter at intended site
A microwave ablation cable assembly including a first coaxial cable having a first diameter, an inner conductor, an outer conductor and a dielectric formed between the inner and outer conductors, a second coaxial cable having a second diameter, and inner conductor, an outer conductor, and a dielectric formed between the inner and outer conductor, and a transition between the first and second coaxial cables having an inner conductor and outer conductor and a dielectric formed between the inner and outer conductors where the inner conductors of the first and second coaxial cables and the transition are in electrical communication and the outer conductors of the first and second coaxial cables and the transition are in electrical communication.
ELECTROSURGICAL INSTRUMENT
An electrosurgical instrument having a radiating tip with enhanced flexibility. In a first aspect, this is achieved by shaping the dielectric material in the radiating tip to facilitate bending of the radiating tip. In a second aspect, this is achieved by forming a dielectric body and outer sheath of the radiating tip as separate parts, to enable movement and flexure between the parts. By improving the flexibility of the radiating tip, maneuverability of the electrosurgical instrument may be improved.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS RELATED TO FLEXIBLE ANTENNAS
A flexible instrument comprises an antenna having a distal tip portion, a proximal base, and an antenna body therebetween. The antenna body comprises a patterned cylindrical structure having a proximal end coupled to the proximal base and a distal end coupled to the distal tip portion. The flexible instrument is configured to generate a radiation pattern from the antenna to ablate tissue.
MICROWAVE ABLATION SYSTEMS AND METHODS HAVING ADJUSTABLE ABLATION PARAMETERS AND MODES OF OPERATION
Various aspects of the present disclosure are directed apparatuses, systems, and methods that may include a microwave ablation system. The microwave ablation system may include a microwave ablation needle, a controller, a microwave generator configured to provide ablation power to the microwave ablation needle, and a pump configured to provide a coolant to the microwave ablation needle at a flow rate, such that the microwave ablation needle emits microwave radiation based on the received ablation power and the controller is configured to perform a plurality of predefined processes having an associated applied ablation power and coolant flow rate.
Tissue ablation and assessment system and method of use thereof
The present disclosure provides a system with an innovative electrode designed as an RF/microwave antenna as well as methods to monitor/assess biological tissue and perform surgical procedures.
Microwave ablation applicators
A shaft assembly for a microwave ablation applicator which includes a shaft assembly and an antenna assembly located within the shaft assembly is disclosed. The shaft assembly comprises an elongate shaft which extends from a first end to a second end thereof, and which defines therein a hollow inner volume and a longitudinal axis of the antenna assembly, and an applicator tip mounted on the second end of the elongate shaft. The applicator tip defines an annular slot with which the second end of the elongate shaft engages. At least part a portion of the second end of the shaft is of a fibre reinforced plastics material having a plurality of elongate fibres bound in a plastics material, at least some of the fibres extending at least partially circumferentially around the annular slot of the applicator tip.
Tissue ablation and assessment system and method of use thereof
The present disclosure provides a system with an innovative electrode designed as an RF/microwave antenna as well as methods to monitor/assess biological tissue and perform surgical procedures.
