Mitigating packet interference

Apparatuses, methods, and systems of mitigating packet interference are disclosed. One method includes receiving, by a sector, data to be transmitted over a specific wireless link of a wireless network, configuring a packet for transmission over the specific wireless link, wherein the packet includes a preamble, and the data, and transmitting, by the sector, the configured packet over the specific wireless link. Configuring the packet includes identifying a reference sequence based on the specific wireless link, and inserting the reference sequence into at least a portion of the preamble.

Code assignment

Apparatuses, methods, and systems of assigning codes are disclosed. One method includes selecting a plurality of available codes, grouping links of a wireless network into a plurality of groups based on connectivity of the links between sectors of the wireless network, characterizing interference between at least one link of a first group of the plurality of groups and at least one link of a second group of the plurality of groups, and assigning at least one code of the plurality of available codes to the first group and at least one other code of the plurality of available codes to the second group based on the characterizing of the interference.

Circuits for efficient detection of vector signaling codes for chip-to-chip communication

In a detection circuit, inputs correspond to received indications of vector signaling code words received by a first integrated circuit from a second integrated circuit. With four inputs, the circuit compares a first pair to obtain a first difference result and compares a second pair, disjoint from the first pair, to obtain a second difference result. The first and second difference results are then summed to form an output function. A system might use a plurality of such detection circuits to arrive at an input word. The circuit can include amplification, equalization, and input selection with efficient code word detection. The vector signaling code can be a Hadamard matrix code encoding for three input bits. The circuit might also have frequency-dependent gain, a selection function that directs one of the summation function result or the first difference result to the output function, variable gain, and/or a slicer.

Packet detection in point-to-point wireless communication networks

Methods, apparatuses, and systems for transmitting information between nodes in a point-to-point wireless communication network is disclosed. One method includes constructing, by a sector of a transmitting node, a packet including data that is to be transmitted to a receiving node in the wireless network, wherein the constructed packet includes a short training field, a channel estimation field, a header field, and a data payload, and transmitting by the sector of the transmitting node, a jamming code before the short training field of the constructed packet, thereby reducing a likelihood that the receiving node will decode a different short training field of an interfering packet before the receiving node decodes the short training field of the constructed packet.

EXPURGATED PULSE POSITION MODULATION FOR COMMUNICATION

An expurgated pulse position modulation (EPPM) technique can be used to encode information for wireless transmission. Such an EPPM technique can be compatible with a simple receiver architecture, such as including a shift register and pulse position modulation (PPM) decoder. A multi-level EPPM (MEPPM) approach can increase the available symbols in the modulation constellation and can be used to accommodate multiple users or devices concurrently. Interleaving techniques can be used such as to reduce inter-symbol interference. An optical transmitter and an optical receiver can be used, such as including using energy in a visible range of frequencies. In an example, an optical source such as including one or more light emitting diodes can provide visible light for illumination, and the EPPM technique can include using codewords specified to provide a desired dimming level when such codewords are used to intensity modulate the optical source, without perceptible flicker.
