Aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for location encoding for secondary synchronization signals (SSS) to convey additional information, such as a current symbol number. According to aspects, a method is provided herein for wireless communications that may be performed, for example, by a base station (BS). The method generally includes selecting frequency resources to use for transmitting synchronization signals in a symbol of a frame, wherein the frequency resources are selected based on a mapping of frequency resources to a location of the symbol within the frame; and transmitting synchronization signals to at least one user equipment (UE) according to the mapping. As a result, the UE may receive synchronization signals, determine a location of the current symbol in a frame based on the mapping, and synchronize to the BS based on the determined location of the current symbol. TECHNIQUES FOR IDENTIFYING CONTROL CHANNEL CANDIDATES BASED ON REFERENCE SIGNAL SEQUENCES
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for reference signal sequence detection by a user equipment (UE). The reference signal sequence may indicate one or more control channel candidates that are to be monitored for control information transmissions to the UE. A base station may transmit control information with a set of parameters for two or more reference signal sequences that are each associated different subsets of decoding candidates within a search space occasion. The UE may monitor the search space occasion and detect a first reference signal sequence and may identify a first subset of the two or more subsets of control channel candidate locations for a blind decoding procedure based on the detection of the first reference signal sequence.
Method and apparatus for communicating reference signal for broadcast channel
Provided is a method and apparatus for transmitting a reference signal. The method may comprise: determining, based on at least one of a synchronization signal (SS) block index or an index associated with a time interval, an initialization value for a reference signal associated with a physical broadcast channel (PBCH); generating, based on the initialization value, the reference signal associated with a PBCH; mapping, based on one or more of a frequency domain shift value or a time domain shift value, the generated reference signal to resource elements (REs); and transmitting, to a terminal, the mapped reference signal and the PBCH.
Dual-stream signal (SIG) field encoding with higher order modulation
Signal (SIF) field capacity can be significantly increased by encoding SIG field data using two streams in accordance with a space-time block code (STBC) encoding scheme. Dual-stream SIG field encoding allows for the utilization of higher order modulation schemes, such as quadrature phase-shift keying (QPSK), which increases SIG field capacity. Dual-stream encoded SIG fields are transmitted using an omnidirectional beam to allow mobile stations to accurately decode the SIG field irrespective of their spatial location.

The method generally includes selecting frequency resources to use for transmitting synchronization signals in a symbol of a frame, wherein the frequency resources are selected based on a mapping of frequency resources to a location of the symbol within the frame; and transmitting synchronization signals to at least one user equipment (UE) according to the mapping. As a result, the UE may receive synchronization signals, determine a location of the current symbol in a frame based on the mapping, and synchronize to the BS based on the determined location of the current symbol. Provided is a method and apparatus for receiving a reference signal. A wireless user device may determine, based on a synchronization signal (SS) block index and based on an index associated with a time interval, an initialization value associated with a reference signal for a physical broadcast channel (PBCH). The wireless user device may receive, based on the initialization value and based on a frequency domain shift value, the reference signal via at least one resource element (RE). The reference signal may be mapped, based on the frequency domain shift value, to the at least one RE. The wireless user device may receive the PBCH.
