A transmission method and an FBMC transmitter to transmit at least a first and a second block of symbols (X.sub.0, X.sub.1), each symbols block including a temporal sequence of L vectors with predetermined size N. It uses a first and a second FBMC modulation channel, each FBMC modulation channel being associated with an antenna. During a first use of the channel, the vectors of the first block and the vectors of the second block are input to the first and to the second FBMC modulation channels respectively, in the order of the temporal sequence. During a second use of the channel, the vectors of the first and second blocks are multiplied by a factor j.sup.L 1 respectively and −(j.sup.L 1) input to the second and to the first FBMC modulation channels respectively, in the inverse order of the temporal sequence.

The disclosure relates to a new Alamouti-based mapping scheme for use in a real field FBMC modulation system which can reduce FBMC-intrinsic interference and allows approaching optimal performance. The Alamouti-based mapping scheme proposed herein can be used for implementing space-time or space-frequency block codes (STBC/SFBC) codes. The proposed Alamouti-based mapping scheme suggests specific patterns to negate/invert signs of the modulation symbols of Alamouti pairs in the Alamouti mapping. By using these special patterns of sign negation, the FBMC-intrinsic interference can be reduced significantly so that it may become possible to use conventional Alamouti demapping/decoding procedures on the receiving side with an overall acceptable performance in real life systems.

Orthogonal multicarrier transmission system using conjugate-root Offset-QAM

In an orthogonal multicarrier radio transmission system complex-valued symbols are transmitted, wherein the real part and the imaginary part of each symbol are shifted against each other by one half symbol period and wherein a non-symmetric conjugate-root filter is applied to each symbol before transmission to mitigate inter-carrier interference and intersymbol interference. Corresponding reverse steps are performed at the receiver.

Channel estimation with reduced overhead in a filter bank multi-carrier (FBMC) system is enabled by use of frequency-time blocks each comprising a pilot field with two pilot symbols and data symbols outside the pilot field. In embodiments, nearest neighbors of the pilot field are populated with data symbols which fulfill one or more symmetry relations enabling approximate interference cancellation. In a first embodiment, the pilot field consists of two frequency-consecutive and time-coinciding positions; the pilot field may be time-initial in a transmission or may be located in the interior of the transmission. In a second embodiment, a block comprises two frequency-coinciding and time-consecutive pilot symbols; the pilot field may be frequency-initial in a transmission or may be located in the interior of the transmission.

METHOD FOR SYNCHRONISING AN FBMC SYSTEM USING A RACH CHANNEL

A method for synchronisation of an emitter of FBMC system with a RACH channel. On the emitter, a pseudo-random sequence with an initial offset in relation to a reference sequence is inserted into the spectral band of the RACH channel. On the receiver, the sequence received on the RACH channel is estimated using a sliding FFT using a starting point and correlated with the reference sequence. The position of the starting point leading to the highest correlation peak is selected as well as the correlation position corresponding to this peak, with these two positions making it possible to determine the offset of the sequence received with the reference sequence. This offset is transmitted to the emitter and the latter deduces from it a delay to be compensated in the emission in order to synchronise with the receiver.

The present invention comprises: mapping sequences corresponding to filters, respectively; adopting an auxiliary sequence which helps a sequence for a synchronization to maintain a correlation attribute; drawing the auxiliary sequence which facilitates a time and frequency synchronization estimation and does not influence a data demodulation. According to the present invention, a time and frequency synchronization may be accurately estimated through a synchronization sequence and an auxiliary sequence which are generated by a filter bank multiple transmission method.
