Laser system with controlled firing of cooling agent and laser based on applicator position
11439463 · 2022-09-13 · ·

A laser system includes a base unit having a power source. A hand-held applicator is connected with the base unit configured to engage biological tissue for treatment. Position detection structure is associated with the applicator for determining a position of the applicator relative to the engaged biological tissue. A laser source generates a laser beam. A cooling system provides a cooling agent to the biological tissue during treatment. A processor circuit is connected with the position detection structure, the laser source and the cooling system. Based on data received from the position detection structure, the processor circuit triggers application of the cooling agent to the treated biological tissue, or triggers application of the cooling agent to the treated biological tissue, followed by a time delay, and then triggers the laser source.

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR OPERATING A TELEOPERATED SURGICAL INSTRUMENT AND A MANUAL INSTRUMENT

A system comprises a teleoperated manipulator, a manually operated instrument, and a position sensor coupled to the manually operated instrument. The position sensor is configured to generate pose information for the manually operated instrument. The system further comprises a controller configured to map a pose of the manipulator to a fixed world reference frame based on three-dimensional pose information for the manipulator known internally within the system. The controller is further configured to map a pose of the manually operated instrument to the fixed world reference frame based on the pose information for the manually operated instrument.

Hair cutting device

A hair cutting device for cutting hair on a body of a subject includes a light source for generating laser light at one or more specific wavelengths corresponding to wavelengths absorbed by one or more chromophores in hair; and a cutting element that has an optical waveguide that is coupled to the light source to receive laser light. A portion of a side wall of the optical waveguide forms a cutting face for contacting hair where, at least at the cutting face, the optical waveguide has a refractive index that is equal to or lower than the refractive index of hair and higher than the refractive index of skin.

A pulsed laser skin treatment device is for laser induced optical breakdown of hair or skin tissue. A beam scanning system scans the beam to define a circular or arc path, using a rotated prism which implements a lateral shift to the beam. A focusing system at the output side of the beam scanning system focuses the incident light beam into a focal spot in the hair or skin tissue, and it rotates with the prism.

DEVICES FOR IMAGE-GUIDED LIGHT TREATMENT OF SKIN

In one aspect, devices for light treatment of skin are described herein. A device described herein, in some embodiments, comprises an interior compartment having a proximal end and a distal end, and an optical aperture disposed at the distal end. The device also comprises a laser or BBL source that produces a laser or BBL beam. The laser or BBL beam has a first optical path within the interior compartment, between the proximal end and the distal end. Additionally, the first optical path exits the interior compartment through the optical aperture. The device further comprises an imaging system that receives a return signal from the aperture. The return signal received from the aperture has a second path within the interior compartment. Further, a selectively reflective optical element is disposed in the first and second optical paths. The selectively reflective optical element generally transmits the laser or RRL beam.

Laser-assisted periodontics

There is a need for a minimally invasive surgical treatment method for periodontitis for the removal of deep pockets, elimination of disease, creation of reattachment of the gingiva to the tooth surface and true regeneration of the attachment apparatus (new cementum, new periodontal ligament, and new alveolar bone) on a previously diseased root surface. The PerioLase® MVP-7™ including eGUI or another device capable of laser dosimetry, such as an original MVP-7™ type laser without the eGUI, achieves this with the LANAP protocol (laser-assisted new attachment procedure) and the LENAP protocol (laser excisional new attachment procedure).

Vessel sealing and cutting system by means of extra-luminal laser

The present invention is a vessel sealing and cutting system (10) comprising a surgical equipment (20) comprising a lower jaw (222) and an upper jaw (212) in a manner defining a holder tip (24) grabbing the tissues containing vessels, and a lower body (21) embodied at the continuation of said upper jaw (212), and a laser source (50) connected to said surgical equipment (20), characterized by comprising a module housing (215) embodied in a manner extending inside said lower body (21) and said upper jaw (212), and a laser module (30) which transmits a laser light to the grabbing region (61) from said holder tip (24) in a simultaneous manner with the closing of the jaws and positioned in said module housing (215) in a manner connected to said laser source (50) from one end thereof.
