Applicator
Disclosed is an applicator or handpiece configured to apply treatment energy to a segment of skin located in a tissue or skin treatment plane. The treatment energy could be RF energy, applied by a pair of bipolar RF electrodes or optical energy. The applicator includes an optical system configured to form a rectangular spot and homogenize the optical energy distribution.
Dual port optical switching apparatus
A dual port switching apparatus (12) comprising a connection part for mounting to a base unit (11), an input beam port to receive a main laser beam from a base unit (11) in an input optical path (22), a first output port (14) for connection to a flexible wave guide, a second output port (15) for connection to an articulated arm (16), and a switching element (56) moveable between a first position and a second position to direct an input beam to one of the first output port (14) and the second output port (15).
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PROVIDING ULTRASOUND GUIDANCE TO TARGET STRUCTURES WITHIN A BODY
An ultrasonic probe comprising a housing, a first ultrasonic transducer array, a second ultrasonic transducer array, a first light source, and a second light source. The first ultrasonic transducer array is coupled to the housing and configured to emit a first planar ultrasonic beam in a first direction within a first plane. The second ultrasonic transducer array is coupled to the housing and configured to emit a second planar ultrasonic beam in the first direction within a second plane, which is substantially perpendicular to the first plane. The first light source is coupled to the housing and configured to project a first light line substantially within the first plane. The second light source is coupled to the housing and configured to project a second light line within a third plane, which is substantially perpendicular to the first plane and intersects the second plane at an oblique angle. The first light line intersects and is substantially perpendicular to the second light line.
Apparatus and techniques for surgical laser delivery
Apparatus and techniques described herein can include delivery of a surgical laser beam for tissue excision or to facilitate hemostasis. The surgical laser beam can be generated, for example, using an ultrafast laser source. Such an approach can provide non-invasive treatment in relation to, for example, aerodigestive anatomy, such as for treatment of laryngeal, oropharyngeal, bronchial, and oral cavity tissues. Other generally available laser sources and their associated treatments may present various drawbacks making them less suitable for treatment for laryngeal, pharyngeal or bronchial pathologies, and use of the apparatus and techniques described herein can address such drawbacks.
CONTROL DEVICE AND CONTROL METHOD
A control device, comprising: a processor including hardware, the processor being configured to: control a laser light source to emit a first instance of a laser light, calculate an overlap information related to an overlap area of an irradiation area of an irradiation target that is irradiated with the first instance of the laser light, and control the laser light source to emit a second instance of the laser light based on the overlap information.
Multiple aperture hand-held laser therapy apparatus
A hand-held therapeutic laser apparatus with a special opto-mechanical construction, which enables changeability of a front collimating lens to create different effective laser apertures. A smaller effective aperture has a comparatively higher radiant flux density for treatment of a small area that requires a higher energy dose, while a larger effective aperture facilitates treatment of a large area at a relatively reduced radiant intensity.
DEVICE AND A METHOD FOR IMAGING-GUIDED PHOTOTHERMAL LASER THERAPY FOR CANCER TREATMENT
This invention relates to a device and a method for monitoring and optimizing photothermal therapy, using a high-power continuous-wave laser beam and a pulsed laser beam, both transmitted through a single soft, multi-mode optical fiber with a diffuse active tip, to interstitially irradiate the target tissue at the same time. The continuous-wave laser light induces photothermal effect and increases tissue temperature and the pulsed laser light produces a photoacoustic signal. The photoacoustic signal intensity is used to monitor the temperature changes in the target tissue and to guide the irradiation of the high-power laser to optimize the photothermal effect by adjusting the light intensity and irradiation time.
SYSTEM AND DEVICE FOR MULTI SPOT PHOTOCOAGULATION
A photocoagulation system is described herein that facilitates multi-spot laser treatment procedures inside the eye and close to the patient's retina. In one example embodiment, a modified endocular probe operates with a laser system to move the probe or a probe needle so as to project a multi-spot pattern on a patient's retina by controlling the rotation movement of the needle (and needle tip). In addition, the system facilitates maneuverability and angular deviation of the needle tip and synchronizes these different movements with the laser photocoagulator system so as to project the aiming beam and thereafter the laser treatment beam in the desired pattern location with the desired exposure time and power.
Ophthalmological imaging and laser delivery device, system and methods
An ophthalmological device and system is described that allows the simultaneous imaging of an eye using both scanning laser ophthalmoscopy (SLO) and optical coherence tomography (OCT). Further the device and system is capable of targeting and delivering a treatment laser for treatment of an eye condition. The system further can include a machine learning algorithm to provide a suggested treatment procedure.
System and method for a patient-invisible laser treatment alignment pattern in ophthalmic photomedicine
An ophthalmic illumination method and system with a head-up display imaging system is provided wherein a therapeutic light is generated by a first laser light source configured to generate therapeutic light and a near-infrared wavelength of an alignment pattern is generated by a second laser light source, where the therapeutic light is directed upon an eye to be examined or treated in accordance with the alignment pattern.
