Surgical Laser Cutting Device
Provided is a surgical handpiece for providing an electromagnetic cutting blade. The handpiece, comprises a body portion having an input end and an output end, a plurality of optical fibers for receiving laser energy having a wavelength within a predetermined wavelength range, wherein the optical fibers are received in the body portion at the input end and extend to the output end, and an optical fiber transition region within the body portion for arranging the plurality of optical fibers into a predetermine cutting shape at the output end, wherein laser energy transmitted from the arranged optical fibers at the output end interact with water molecules near the surgical target to generate micro-explosions that result in a cutting effect.
Smoke Evacuation System
Smoke evacuation system for removal of aerosolized chemical compounds and biological fine particles produced during laser treatment of tissue. The rapid smoke evacuation is achieved by coupling a low capacity vacuum pump to a vacuum valve and a vacuum reservoir to create very high flow rate for very short durations. The opening time of the valve could at least partially overlap the laser pulse duration.
System and apparatus for treating the lens of an eye
A system and apparatus for increasing the amplitude of accommodation and/or changing the refractive power and/or enabling the removal of the clear or cataractous lens material of a natural crystalline lens is provided. Generally, the system comprises a laser, optics for delivering the laser beam and a control system for delivering the laser beam to the lens in a particular pattern. There is further provided apparatus for determining the shape and position of the lens with respect to the laser. There is yet further provided a method and system for delivering a laser beam in the lens of the eye in a predetermined shot pattern.
Methods, systems and devices for reducing the luminal surface area of the gastrointestinal tract
Methods, systems and devices for treating a patient include providing a tissue treatment element constructed and arranged to deliver energy to tissue and treating tissue of the gastrointestinal tract by causing the tissue treatment element to deliver energy to an energy delivery zone. Treatment results in a reduction in the luminal surface area of at least a portion of the gastrointestinal tract. In particular embodiments, the methods, systems and devices are used to treat diabetes.
Skin treatment device
A skin treatment device comprising a light source providing a light beam for optically treating skin, a wheel with a wheel surface for reflecting the light beam towards the skin, driving means for rotating the wheel and changing an angular position of the wheel, where different angular positions of the wheel correspond to different directions of reflection for the light beam, an angular position detector for detecting the angular position of the wheel, storage means for storing predefined skin-treatment patterns, a relation between the different angular positions of the wheel; and different reflection directions of the light beam, a control circuit coupled to the light source. The light source being controlled in dependence on the detected angular position such that, for each revolution of the wheel, the light beam is controlled to only illuminate the wheel surface in selected angular positions of the wheel to realize a predefined skin-treatment pattern.
System and method for determining dosimetry in ophthalmic photomedicine
A system and method for treating ophthalmic target tissue, including a light source for generating a beam of light, a beam delivery system that includes a scanner for generating patterns, and a controller for controlling the light source and delivery system to create a dosimetry pattern of the light beam on the ophthalmic target tissue. One or more dosage parameters of the light beam vary within the dosimetry pattern, to create varying exposures on the target tissue. A visualization device observes lesions formed on the ophthalmic target tissue by the dosimetry pattern. The controller selects dosage parameters for the treatment beam based upon the lesions resulting from the dosimetry pattern, either automatically or in response to user input, so that a desired clinical effect is achieved by selecting the character of the lesions as determined by the dosimetry pattern lesions.
Internet connected dermatological devices and systems
A dermatological treatment and analysis system includes a handheld treatment device having a handheld body, a treatment radiation source that delivers a dermatological treatment to the skin, and skin sensor(s) configured to generate signals indicative of one or more skin properties. A wireless transmitter is integrated in the handheld treatment device or in a docking/charging station that receives the handheld treatment device. The wireless transmitter is configured to receive skin-related data comprising the signals from the at least one skin sensor and/or information derived from such signals, and to wirelessly transmit the received skin-related data for analysis of the skin-related data by a remote data analysis system, which may analyze the received skin-related data to generate skin analysis data, and communicate the skin analysis data as feedback to the user of the handheld treatment device, e.g., via a website or application hosted on an internet-connected device of the user.
Methods and system for image guided cell ablation
The invention provides systems and method for the removal of diseased cells during surgery.
AUTOMATED IMAGE-GUIDED TISSUE RESECTION AND TREATMENT
A system to treat a patient comprises a user interface that allows a physician to view an image of tissue to be treated in order to develop a treatment plan to resect tissue with a predefined removal profile. The image may comprise a plurality of images, and the planned treatment is shown on the images. The treatment probe may comprise an anchor, and the image shown on the screen may have a reference image marker shown on the screen corresponding to the anchor. The planned tissue removal profile can be displayed and scaled to the image of the target tissue of an organ such as the prostate, and the physician can adjust the treatment profile based on the scaled images to provide a treatment profile in three dimensions. The images shown on the display may comprise segmented images of the patient with treatment plan overlaid on the images.
AN APPARTUS AND METHOD FOR FRACTIONAL ABLATIVE TREATMENT OF TISSUE
A device for performing treatment of biological tissue that includes a laser system configured to provide a laser beam having a wavelength within a range of 3.0 microns (?m) to 3.25 ?m inclusive and a spot size within a range of 10 ?m to 45 ?m inclusive, and a controller coupled to the laser system and configured to scan the laser beam over the biological tissue in an injury pattern, the injury pattern having a pitch that is sized to be in a range of 0.1 mm to 1 mm inclusive.
