System and method for determining dosimetry in ophthalmic photomedicine

A system and method for treating ophthalmic target tissue, including a light source for generating a beam of light, a beam delivery system that includes a scanner for generating patterns, and a controller for controlling the light source and delivery system to create a dosimetry pattern of the light beam on the ophthalmic target tissue. One or more dosage parameters of the light beam vary within the dosimetry pattern, to create varying exposures on the target tissue. A visualization device observes lesions formed on the ophthalmic target tissue by the dosimetry pattern. The controller selects dosage parameters for the treatment beam based upon the lesions resulting from the dosimetry pattern, either automatically or in response to user input, so that a desired clinical effect is achieved by selecting the character of the lesions as determined by the dosimetry pattern lesions.

AUTOMATED IMAGE-GUIDED TISSUE RESECTION AND TREATMENT

A system to treat a patient comprises a user interface that allows a physician to view an image of tissue to be treated in order to develop a treatment plan to resect tissue with a predefined removal profile. The image may comprise a plurality of images, and the planned treatment is shown on the images. The treatment probe may comprise an anchor, and the image shown on the screen may have a reference image marker shown on the screen corresponding to the anchor. The planned tissue removal profile can be displayed and scaled to the image of the target tissue of an organ such as the prostate, and the physician can adjust the treatment profile based on the scaled images to provide a treatment profile in three dimensions. The images shown on the display may comprise segmented images of the patient with treatment plan overlaid on the images.

System and apparatus for treating the lens of an eye

A system and apparatus for increasing the amplitude of accommodation and/or changing the refractive power and/or enabling the removal of the clear or cataractous lens material of a natural crystalline lens is provided. Generally, the system comprises a laser, optics for delivering the laser beam and a control system for delivering the laser beam to the lens in a particular pattern. There is further provided apparatus for determining the shape and position of the lens with respect to the laser. There is yet further provided a method and system for delivering a laser beam in the lens of the eye in a predetermined shot pattern.

Non-ablative resurfacing of soft tissues

The present disclosure relates to a method and an apparatus for generating a laser pulse sequence for application to a predetermined target tissue. Means are provided for setting a cumulative fluence F.sub.s of the laser pulse sequence. Means are provided for determining a duration of the laser pulse sequence as a function of the cumulative fluence F.sub.s such that the predetermined target tissue is heated to a final temperature that is within a predetermined range.

A laser system for body tissue treatment has laser source, control device, scanner, and handpiece with treatment head transparent to the laser beam. An incoming laser beam section enters the treatment head longitudinally. The treatment head has a conical output surface with a minimum and a maximum surface radius and a half opening angle for total reflection of the incoming beam section. The reflected beam section is refracted radially into an emerging beam section away from the treatment head through the output surface. The incoming beam section has at the output surface a mean diameter that is a difference of maximum surface radius and minimum scanning radius. A conical scanning surface as a part of the conical output surface extends from the minimum scanning radius to the maximum surface radius. The control device controls the scanner for scanning the conical scanning surface with the incoming beam section.
