Keyboard interface for efficiently selecting from a set of data items
A keyboard interface enables the efficient selection of one or more data items from a set of data items. The appearance of the keyboard interface can be dynamically generated and updated based on characteristics of the data items in the set. When a user selects a user interface element associated with a set of data items, the data items in the set can be evaluated to determine a number of keys to include in the keyboard interface as well as which characters are assigned to each included key. The number of keys and which characters are assigned to these keys can be determined by identifying a first character in each of the data items in the set. When the user selects a key, the keyboard interface can be updated in a similar manner but based on characters at a subsequent position in data items that matched the previously selected key.
Electronic device that operatively obtains contact information from multiple applications
One embodiment provides a data processing method including: acquiring a first identity information inputted by a user; inquiring, based on the first identity information, a second identity information corresponding to the first identity information in a second information list different from a first information list; acquiring, based on the second identity information, a second communication code corresponding to the second identity information, wherein the second communication code is used for the first device to initiate a voice communication connection or a data communication connection to a second device corresponding to the second communication code. Other aspects are described and claimed.
Systems, apparatuses and methods for party line calls among voice over internet protocol (VoIP) telephones
Devices, systems and methods are provided to support a party call with auto joining function in a communication system for a distributed transport system that employs VoIP technology. A VoIP unit or end point acts as a conference bridge between an operator extension and other end points. A first end point makes a SIP call to the operator and multicasts a mix of its send audio and the received operator audio. Other end points first check for multicast traffic being received before making a SIP call to the operator and, if so, play out the received audio over its speaker and multicast its send audio. The end point initiating the call mixes this subsequent stream into a stream to the operator, effectively acting as the conference bridge to the operator. The other end points are responsible for mixing received multicast streams for their local speaker.
USER INTERFACE FOR A HANDHELD DEVICE
A user interface and method for composing a message to be sent over a wireless network environment using a handheld device is disclosed. According to the method, upon receipt of a user request to compose a message, a screen is displayed with a recipient field for a recipient address, an associated label to indicate that the recipient field is for a recipient address, and a message body field for holding message content. The method further includes, upon each keystroke entry of text to the recipient field, looking up entries from an address book which match the text, and displaying a selection menu representing addresses from at least a portion of the entries as well as cached entries previously looked up from a global address book.
Method and system for automatically saving unknown number in mobile phone
A method for automatically saving an unknown number in a mobile phone includes comparing a telephone number being answered or dialed with numbers in an address book, and determines whether the telephone number is an unknown number. If yes, conversation content is monitored, and keywords of the conversation content are extracted after the call is successfully connected. After the call ends, a user is prompted whether to save, if yes, the keywords are arranged in order for the user to select.
Method and apparatus for providing contact information
An electronic device having a call handling function and operation method therefor are provided. The electronic device may include a display, a memory configured to store first contact information of a counterpart, a transceiver, and at least one processor. The at least one processor may be configured to control for sending a request for first contact information of the counterpart through the transceiver to an external electronic device in response to a user request, receiving second contact information of the counterpart through the transceiver from the external electronic device, and presenting the first contact information and second contact information on the display.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR WIRELESS TRANSACTIONS
A system and method for wireless transactions provides a software development kit (SDK) that provides accessibility to inherent communication capabilities within a wireless communication device. The communication capabilities are normally not accessible to a software developer. However, the SDK provides an appropriate interface that permits a software developer to create application programs for a variety of transactions between the wireless communication device and a mobile network operator (MNO). In some transactions, the MNO may function as a financial service provider in which a user has an account with an associated monetary value. The SDK provides a simplified technique for executing a financial transaction, such as making a payment or transferring money by presenting easy-to-use menus that avoid the difficulty of memorizing transaction codes, user phone numbers, and the like.
TEXT-BASED TELEPHONIC SYSTEM
A text-based telephonic system includes a database containing entries for text strings and corresponding telephone numbers. Telephone numbers corresponding to respective text strings are retrieved from the database. For instance, responsive to a phone providing a text string, the database is accessed to provide the corresponding telephone number to the phone. The provided telephone number would be usable by the phone to connect to a second phone via a telephony network. The text strings can be words or alphanumeric strings, which greatly enhances memory compared to numeric telephone numbers. The connection between the phones comprises a telephone call using a telephony network such as a public-switched telephone network or the Internet using Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology.
Method, apparatus, and system for preventing unintentional communication
A method, apparatus, and system discussed herein are directed to a computing device, or a user equipment (UE), for preventing unintentional communication. After a user enters a command to send a communication such as a text or email message or a phone call, to a particular recipient addressed in the communication, appropriateness of the communication for the particular recipient is evaluated based on the time of the communication and/or a comparison of the contexts of the communication against the particular recipient. If a questionable context for the particular recipient is found, the user is notified and provided with an opportunity to cancel or edit before the message is actually sent.
